I started coming back to this deli last year — The salads, soups and desserts are homemade and it’s a woman-owned, local business. I worked in a NY deli during college and it’s good to have a nice deli sandwich available! My husband loves the sandwiches. They cater a business meeting I attend monthly, and the salads are fresh and dressings are not typical — they are clearly homemade too. The balsamic has a nice zing and the thousand island is perfect. Every once in a while I get their egg & cheese breakfast sandwich, on rye. Coffee is also fresh and good. I am thrilled they have stevia available as I only like natural sweeteners. For anyone who hasn’t been lately – go check it out.

I usually grab a breakfast sandwich from here when I am running late in the morning(scrabbled egg, ham, + a slice of tomato). Needless to say, I am a fan.

I wanted to stretch out today and visit the local deli for a little lunch this afternoon. The Capitol View Deli(Ambrogio’s) down the street from our office was recommended highly by co-workers and the like, so why the heck not, let me try it out. I won’t be going back to this deli anytime soon. I had ordered a chicken parm and a seafood salad side. What I received was an overpriced extremely small, tiny, petite, hardly there lunch. I spent $ 9.95 on a chicken parm that consisted of two barley there, sad cutlets covered in a speck of sauce and provalone cheese. The seafood salad came in a container which held at least two fork fulls of imitation crab meat in mayo with some type of artificial coloring to give it a pink shade. Oh yes, I forgot to mention this came with a pickle. I didn’t realize that food prices were higher than NYC. This is the pit of Hartford for Pete’s sake! I should have just stuck with a crummy soup purchased in the office caffeteria. Overall, my sandwhich was 7.70 and the salad was 2.25. I can’t believe I spent $ 10.00 for an unsatisfying lunch. This means what people? Say it with me, when you are unsatisfied with lunch this will lead us to purchase something else later in the afternoon.
