It is not your typical Fried chick but should be. I usually get the wing meal with fries. Food has always been fresh and hot. Not a sit down place just for take out but worth it.

I came in to order chicken and biscuits and they had no biscuits at 12pm… Needless to say I ordered a burger, staff was friendly and business looked clean.

Had a great Mediterranean-inspired lunch… Grilled chicken over Rice with salad. Only 4 starts bec very few fresh, whole good options, and it’s a very small place. But, our family of 5 found plenty of yummy bites for everyone –salads were good enough– for wallet-friendly process!

Delicious. Mouth watering. Savory. Those are words I would use to describe the chicken cheesesteak I had last night. It was so good and I wish I ordered more than the sun because everything looked great. I am a big fan of fried chicken so I can’t wait to come back and try it. I did have the biscuit though and it was kind of dry and there was no gravy. But I will be back to try the fried chicken!!! I can’t wait!

Best fried Chicken in the area. Its just perfect a bit greasy and crispy. They also have halal but I haven’t tried that. Its very reasonably priced too. The only downside is it doesn’t have the best parking and I suspect it would be hard to get in and out of during busy times.

for a place with biscuits in the name i expected a lot more. i stopped in at 2 am on a saturday, so maybe they give the lousiest stuff out to the drunk crowd, but i was sure disappointed. they weren’t flakey, buttery, or even warm. bleh!!! i enjoyed the chicken though. well, i enjoyed the thighs and wings at least, the breast tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. i would go back again and make sure to order all dark meat, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind(as dark meat is cheaper than white meat). good service, good chicken, bad biscuits. stick with the fries and a soda combo. leave the biscuits to popeyes.

On a quest to find the best fried chicken, I decided to start things off with NY Chicken & Biscuits. In excited and eager anticipation, I was elated to learn that it was right off exit 47 from I-84, less than 5 minutes from the highway. Parking is tricky if you don’t land a spot in the small lot. Not even bothering with the parking charade, I saw other patrons winging it and just parking right on Farmington Ave, «yolo?» I was feeling crazy, so I went for the 9 piece. Explaining my quest for chicken, I had asked for some staff favorites. He recommended I try a combination of regular and spicy wings. With only two small dining tables, I opted for take-out. Hot and crispy, they weren’t bad. But I felt that they lacked flavor. The fries are definitely fried in the same oil as the chicken which is nice, but altogether the fried chicken was a bit of a letdown. Speedy service and reasonable pricing might have me coming back for another try. But until then, my quest for some good ol’ country fried chicken continues!

The fried chicken here is like good olé southern fried chicken! Crispy & crunchy skin and lightly battered to perfection! I got a two piece, that came with a breast and leg, with a biscuit and mash with gravy. Chicken was mouth watering delicious, biscuit was good but looked a little like it had been in the warmer for to long, but still good, and the mash with gravy was yummy as well, and I’m not one to like gravy on top of my potatoes but theirs was yummy, the mash wasn’t smothered in gravy like most places do which is what I don’t like and to me it tasted as if the gravy was fresh made there in shop and not from a package and warmed up. Everything was delicious, the store was very well kept up and clean, and the gentleman up front was very nice, which for me being from the south with all that southern hospitality is a compliment because it’s much harder to come by up here in the North. Overall I had an enjoyable experience and would defiantly recommend it to anyone who is looking for some finger licking fried chicken, and will without a doubt be back to get me some more as well! Only thing that I would suggest is to get better hot sauce, like Tabasco or Texas Pete or Louisiana hot sauce, because I LOVE really good fried chicken paired with some really good hot sauce!

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and finally went here on the recommendation of a trusted foodie friend. I grew up in Tennessee and I have really high expectations for fried chicken and even higher ones for biscuits. I found NY Chicken and Biscuit to be a bit lackluster. It’s inexpensive fried chicken: crispy, greasy, and not too flavorful. The biscuits left a lot to be desired; they were dry and flavorless. Yet they still cook fried chicken better than some of the nicer restaurants in the area, so I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. If you need some fried chicken fast, or you just need that greasy post-drinking snack, this is your place. If you grew up eating stellar fried chicken, you’re better off waiting until your Southern grandmother can cook it for you.

Late night cravings? NY Chicken on Farmington Ave is open until 4am on weekends, and 1am on week days. Although this isn’t in the best area of town, they whip up some of the only halal chicken, lamb, and beef in town. The chicken cheese steak has a special place in my heart. For $ 7 you can get a full sub of savory chopped chicken with spices, cheese and a hint of mayo. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more filling you can get any halal meat over a bed of rice. It really hits the spot! But I can’t stress enough that the fried chicken is AWESOME! crispy, juicy wings, legs and thighs — mix n match. Keep in mind this is NOT a sit down restaurant, only order to go, and if you stop it it will take 10 – 15 minutes maximum to walk out with a bag of goodies.

Nice place when you come in, clean as far as I can see with my eyes. The chicken is hot and tender though a little bland, I’m thinking just salt pepper and flour. Wings are very good, no feather pieces like in some other fry joints. The biscuits were terrible. Flavorless and looked and tasted from a microwave. I would like to get here when they first open in the day to see them prepping. Until then, chicken yes. Other items I don’t know just yet.

I got take-out from NY Chicken & Biscuits recently, and I felt bad for everyone around me, as the aroma is drool inducing. The taste was just as good. I bought the 4 piece, as I was really hungry and didn’t know how much I’d really be getting. Ultimately I would have been fine with just three, but I ate all four anyway and was rather stuffed. Threw away almost half of the fries as I just didn’t have room, and the chicken was the star anyway. The fries were OK, but I like mine done a little more. The chicken, however, was super moist. Probably a tad greasy for some, but if you’re worried about that kind of thing you should probably be avoiding fried chicken anyway. My only complaint would be that the hot sauce they serve wasn’t very good. I’ll plan on supplying my own until they replace it with something else(e.g. Frank’s). The ketchup was OK(Hunt’s), but comes in packets that seemed even smaller than usual. I asked for extra and still went through all of them. I’m also a ketchup glutton, however, so YMMV. TL:DR — Delicious fried chicken, bring your own hot sauce, definitely a take-out place(didn’t have the tables in that one picture set up when I was there). I know I’ll be back when I’m in the neighborhood.

We live just down the road in the West End and discovered NYCB about a year ago. I get ONLY the fried chicken and take it home. I’ve called ahead to order 8 thighs to take(along with sides I prepared myself) to a friend recovering from foot surgery. Last Saturday, I ordered ahead a dozen wings and a dozen drumsticks to bring to a «Final Four» gathering at our next door neighbor’s. They were gone in a flash. If you want a large amount or some specific parts, call ahead, but it only takes them 10 – 15 minutes.

Ugh, this is a review purely based on the shrimp dish I got. I’m not even sure what to say about it because I absolutely did not like it at all. So, it’s fried, but the shrimp itself had the texture like it wasn’t cooked at all. I’ve had raw shrimp before so I know what the texture is like. So, imagine a raw shrimp with breading around it. It tasted so different, I’m not sure I like it. We ended up at this place because my friends and I was tired of trying to find a decent food place. We were walking with only an hour to spare, so that was another reason. The chicken tenders were completely fine, though. I tried some of my friend’s.

Had high hopes for this place. Got the 9 piece mixed with fries, biscuits, and side of coleslaw. The chicken was hit or miss. Every other piece was dry. Some breast meat was moist some not. The flavor is good but different, not the traditional fried chicken taste. The fries had good flavor as well. Similar texture to McDonald’s. But it wasn’t crisp. The biscuits were a let down. They were dry and compact. The ones at Popeyes win because they’re buttery and fluffy. The coleslaw was downright bad. Tasted vinegary and off. Should’ve known better. The value is there. Prices undercut popeyes and kfc but the taste and quality will have me running back to Popeyes because I’m no fan of kfc. I’ll be back to give this place another shot, its got potential.

Really good fried chicken. Need I say more? Ok, I will… NY Chicken is located on Farmington Ave. in Hartford, near the main campus for Aetna. The first thing you’ll notice is that parking is a challenge. The lot is small and there are other businesses in the same plaza. You may have to drive by a couple of times waiting for a spot, and if you have a big vehicle it can be a challenge to get in and out. However, the food is worth it. The restaurant itself is small, with only a couple of tables. It’s primarily take-out with a variety of options. The star, though, is the fried chicken. I’ve been on a number of occasions, and the meat is always tender and juicy, the skin crispy and well-seasoned. It’s greasy, sure, but not overly-so. The fries are solid as well, crunchy with some good flavor of their own. Prices are very reasonable, and service is quick if you need to pick something up to bring back to work. Service has always been friendly on my visits. Overall, this is a definite recommend, on par with Greers in Bristol for my favorite fried chicken in Connecticut.
