Park Hardware is exactly what a hardware store should be. They are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly to walk-in visitors, and they bend over backwards for regular customers. Need window glass? They have a window and screen department. Need paint, fasteners, tools, obscure parts for your 1930’s plumbing? They either have it, can have it within a week or less, or help you find a creative workaround. They know what they are talking about, in English or Spanish. Price-wise, they are either on-par with or sometimes much cheaper than the big-box home centers. For example, I bought a $ 40 box of 50 galvanized lag bolts for a project at Park and I ran out on a Sunday(the only day Park is closed.) When I looked for identical fasteners at the nearest orange-hued home center, I found a box of 50 priced at $ 79! Lesson learned, I waited until Monday to finish my project. As a child in the late 70’s/early 80’s, I loved to accompany my father to the hardware store on Saturday mornings. Most of the 1940’s-era neighborhood stores we frequented closed many years ago– they are unfortunately an endangered and vanishing breed. Park Hardware is a welcome and refreshing throwback to those days– a rewarding reason to shop local.

I cannot say enough good things about this store. Trips to the hardware store are never especially fun for me because it means I have to repair something or other, so it matters that this outing does not add stress. Park Hardware is small and personal. So, they might not be a warehouse, but they do not need to be. There are only so many varieties of paint brushes and brooms that we actually need anyway. If they do not have something in stock they will order it. I have had no trouble finding the items that I came in for, whether it be drywall or a snow shovel. The employees are friendly, helpful, and bilingual. I love that this is in walking distance and not a big box store. They have parking in the back.
