Spotlight Theaters

I won’t be going to another movie theater any longer. This place is awesome. First of all it just looks cool– those who say looks don’t matter are just ugly anyways. From the lobby to the theater door, it’s very modern and sleek. There is a bar/​eating area right in the lobby that’s good enough to sit at even if you’re not seeing Rocky 9. The concessions– wait for it, we had to actually wait (!!!)for our order. It was being cooked fresh right in front of us! Bizarre having non microwaved food at the movies. Plus the food tray fits in your cup holder– I wish some football stadiums did that. A lot of theaters now are debuting leather reclining seating so that’s nothing new, but they are quite comfortable. Oh and do not forget to validate your parking– it takes 2 seconds and saves you $ 3. Just awesome all around. This is a movie theater for people who don’t like movie theaters.

They are not very business oriented bc, we arrived at 12;45 for a 1:10 show and the menus were not lit on the display when we purchased our tickets. Since this was our first time visiting this theater, there was only what seemed to be popcorn being sold. No where were there signs, menus, etc offering food! We did see beer displayed in the case so, we purchased a beer, we would gave bot more food but there was nothing instructing how to order. We didnot know if there was a server who would cone to your seat etc. in all this theater can do much more to sell food! They could double their concession business if I ran the place!
We loved the place but they appear to have poor Mgt.

Came here for a matinée and the screen totally stopped working. No one from the theater came in to explain the situation, so everyone just slowly left and the theater did refund the cost of tickets. Not handled well, waste of time. I’ll think twice before coming back here.

Seats were comfortable and theater was clean. My husband and I were able to grab a beer at the bar and bring them into the theater with us which was nice. Bathrooms seemed clean as well. Staff could have been a little more personable, although the gentleman that took our tickets was nice. Crowd seemed mostly 30+. Great spot for dinner and a movie with many great restaurants within walking distance. The theater is also attached to the parking garage which makes it easy access for downtown Hartford!

Front street has definitely become more popular with the addition of the hotel, various restaurants and more to come!
I personally love this theatre above all others in the area. The parking in the garage is validated which is a bonus. Lines to get tickets are usually fast moving and with only a couple of theatres you’re usually getting great seats. Seats are deep and leather with arm rests that raise allowing you to snuggle with your date should you choose.
Concession stand is good, a variety of actual food (chicken fingers, pizza, etc) along with popcorn and candy options. Did I mention they serve booze?
If you’re going to do dinner and a movie then Front Street Bistro (attached) is a definite must.

The Spotlight Theater was one of the first places to open in the Front Street development and created a buzz. Before the theater opened, there was not any business of it’s sort in downtown. A movie theater, with a full service bar AND restaurant? You can’t beat that!
My boyfriend and I like to go to theater for Monday Night Football or date nights in general. MNF tends to get busy and slightly rowdy. There is a large amount of comfortable seating in each theater. There are waitresses specifically working in the theater during the duration of the game, which is a game changer for me. Its not the fact that I have to get it up, its the simple fact that parts of the game will be missed. Not to mention, they have a food and drink specials alike for MNF. Spotlight is a great place to catch a game, if you have the opportunity.
My boyfriend and I will sometimes make a happy hour stop there. I like the fact that their happy hour runs until 7pm. They have switched up their food specials/​menu over the last 6 months. They have made some improvements and are working on their menu overall. Some of their entrees are on the pricier side for what they are. I think its great that you have the ability to order your food and bring it into the theater to enjoy with your movie.
I would say order your beer from the bar rather than than the main counter where you purchase your tickets/​snacks. The selection of the beer/​wine at the bar is far greater and less expensive.
The staff is always really nice and professional. For the most part, there is little turnover in staff, which I like. I usually see the same faces every time I go there.
In terms of the parking, you can park on the street if you are lucky enough to find a spot. Parking on the street is FREE after 6pm and all day/​night on weekends. If you park in the garage, do not forget to get your ticket validated. Validated parking is only $ 2. If you forget, parking is usually $ 5 for the entirety of your visit.
The Spotlight Theater is a nice addition to the businesses that are starting to pop up in the downtown area. Also being the only move theater located in the immediate downtown makes it even sweeter.

Pretty decent theater to pass the time, if you have it. I was in the area (a little early for a Unilocal event) and decided to catch a film.
Parking:
-$ 2 validated parking only for the nearby garage. Bring in your ticket to have it validated at the cash register.
–on street parking is $ 1/​hr, for a maximum of 4 hours, until 6PM. Free after 6PM.
Cost:
-$ 11 for a matinée screening of a 3D film.
–I’m pretty sure normal prices for regular films is $ 11, and $ 8 on matinée. This is slightly cheaper than most movie theaters, by a dollar or two.
One thing that sets Spotlight Theater on Front Street apart is that they have a very nice concession stand, complete with beer and wine, plus a restaurant you can dine at before or after the show. I didn’t get to partake in any of these offerings, but would definitely look into it in the future.
Unfortunately, because they only have 2 (?) movie theaters, patrons are limited as to what films are available to be seen during specific time increments. I had only a 2 hour window, and thus was stuck watching Hotel Transylvania 2 in 3D. Needless to say, I was the only person in the theater.
The seats are comfy and lean back, as others mention. I did notice that the theater appears wide (and less deep) than most I’ve been to. I’d recommend sitting closer than you usually do, as the screen does not stretch all the way across the row of seats. Date night, definitive yes. Casual stop-​in? sure. Just be prepared to get suckered into watching some saccharin and neon neo-​Disney film. Might be all that’s available.

Fantastic theater! Great seats, friendly staff. Being able to grab food and drinks to watch a movie is awesome ! The only theater I go to now.

Our favorite theater in central Connecticut. We were spoiled before we moved to Connecticut by the AMC CinemaSuites, which featured powered recliners, adults only theaters, with dining service. And when we moved to Connecticut, we consulted the online lists, were led to some totally disappointing places (flat theaters from the 80s? *cough* Blueback Square) and eventually ended up here.
What makes this theater great is a combination of a few factors, but primarily a singular standout theme: It’s always quiet and adult-​centric. This means you’ll very rarely see the teenage hordes or dozen kid Disney/​Pixar outings, and this results in a more pleasurable movie going experience (unless you’re a kid or teenager). The other benefits being the centralized location, plenty of parking (although usually paid), close to bars and restaurants, and comfortable seats.
While Connecticut catches up to rest of the country in movie-​going luxuries, this will be the place we see our blockbusters for years to come.

My favorite theater in the Hartford area. Screens and show times limited, but the seats are so comfortable and having a beer with a movie is amazing.
Theater is well designed and kept immaculate. I wish that they released weekend show times more than a couple days in advance.

First time checking out this place. Tried the penne with vodka sauce, pretty good. Cozy little theaters, decent seats. Projection system is up to snuff and the sound was great.
My only snag was when the ticket taker said up the ramp to the right, and when we got up there, there were two theaters… but they were not labeled! Of course I couldnt find my ticket to verify where I was going. It was a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ guess, and I actually guessed right, but usually movie theaters have signage so there is no guessing. Not a deal breaker, just thought it was kinda strange. I’ll go back and see if my guesswork works next time, or hold on to my ticket for another 30 seconds ;)

Love this theater! I’ve been here twice now — once for a comedy show and once for a movie. The seats are comfortable with enough leg room to let people scoot by. Location is great, near businesses, restaurants, and close to the highway. Parking isn’t always easy if it’s near Happy Hour or dinner time, but there are lots of garages within walking distance. The food/​drinks are pricey, but what do you expect? I love that there are so many options, plus there’s alcohol available! They have a great movie selection, too. Since it’s a bit off the beaten path for school-​aged kids, you don’t usually have to fight for a ticket or a place to sit and get to enjoy a quiet show.

This theater is great, you can bring food and liquor in to the theater (provided by them, not BYOB). The prices are fantastic and the popcorn is delicious, I just wish they’d have individual salt packets for popcorn rather than the shaker as I like to supply regular amounts of salt as I battle through the many many levels of popcorn delight. The chairs are comfortable leather and it’s never very busy during the week which is a great thing.

Best way to enjoy a movie. The location is very convinient and there are always deals for ticket & popcorn.
The seats are great and the prices are really fair. If you park in the parking garage next door you can ask them to validate your parking ticket.
Can’t wait for football to be back, really want to watch some games here.

Love this theater. Good prices, great seats, new movies. Hands-​down my favorite theater in the area. They run groupon specials pretty regularly.

Spotlight Theater is my favorite place to catch a movie, hands down.
The location is great, with lots of restaurant options for pre– or post-​movie meals and lots of parking (on-​street or garage). Concessions are a step above most theaters: you can take full meals in from the attached bistro, as well as wine and beer! Most importantly, the theaters are kept tidy, and the seats are roomy and plush.
There are only four screens, so options are limited. But there’s never a huge crowd, and from what I’ve seen over the past couple of years, they only show PG-​13 or R movies (i.e. no screaming kids), so your trip to the movies can stay low-​key and stress-​free.
Spotlight is always my first choice of theaters, and I recommend it to all my friends and coworkers when they’re looking for date night ideas.

Was here for the free Monday Night Football. Wow! Awesome seeing the game here. $ 2 Coors lights served by waitstaff to your seat. Espn radio in the house giving away free stuff. I’ll be here all season. Great experience if you live football. I highly recommend.

Nice, modern movie theater with comfy seats and $ 5 tall boy beers (Blue Moon and one other). The seats were so great that I would replace the couches in my living room with them… I would even pay for a movie just to take a nap in them!
Street parking is free on Prospect St after 6pm. If you want to park closer you may have to pay for a spot in the garage on Front Street.
Only down side is that there are only a few theaters, so there were only five movies playing. You might have to go somewhere else for the one you want to see.
