I really like the Flavors at August Moon. Traditional Chinese food served restaurant style with excellent atmosphere and a friendly staff even though at times there can be a slight language barrier but for me that adds to the dinning experience. Their lunch menu is served with egg drop soup and an egg roll on most dishes which cost extra in most places. The Calamari and wontons are delicious. Servings are simmered sized for lunch and I can’t imagine what the dinner portions look like. You’ll need a nap after eating a meal here. Yum Bonus — I got to see the waitstaff in action as a rowdy customer looking to get free food blew up on the staff and they handled it well. They were going to comp her a meal that she ate in its entirety but she wanted shrimp fried to go as well. Luckily the police showed up and escorted mean ladies out and unfortunately the police made them pay for their food. Should have taken the free meal and left. Lol

Well, guys, they lost me. I ordered to go and the garlic chicken had literally 6 pieces of chicken and all kinds of stringy, half cooked veggies. The fried rice they charged me $ 4 extra for had no flavor or color, whatsoever. They basically scrambled an egg and put some green onions in white rice and gave us that… Pathetic. Lifelong customer… Lost just like that.

Went to dinner with my mother today. We each had a bowl of Bun Bo Hue. Broth was good, but we hoped it would have more meat. Great place overall though, price is right and place is clean. Customer service is as expected.

Pretty darn awesome. My pictures are of my leftovers, however don’t be alarmed! The meal was so darn good, the leftovers almost didn’t make it home! Phở was hot, spicy and delicious. The pan-fried seafood chow fun was the bestest. The noodle/sauce for an appetizer was good. The restaurant was neat and clean, the waitresses were attentive and kind. AWESOME! It is a bit of a drive for me, but I am glad I met my friend here. She was born and raised in Vietnam, and this is her favorite restaurant when she misses home, so that says a lot to me. I will be back!

I was pretty excited to try August Moon since I had driven past it many times. We started out with the egg drop soup which was divine. We also ordered crab rangoon which was also very good. The egg rolls also came out. They were not so good. They use a spice or mixture of seasonings that is quite foul. I had a few more bites to try to identify what it was but couldn’t. My combination platter of General Tso’s chicken arrived and upon the first bite, I tasted the foul taste again. I sent the plate back and ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken. The new dish was better and I was able to enjoy the rest of my meal. They have a wide range of items on their menu and the staff was friendly. Probably will not go again out of fear of that taste I experienced but others may enjoy.

They have the absolute best Hot and Sour soup in my opinion however the Generals chicken left alot to be desired. I often return but stick to having just the soup… It’s that good! I have yet to find any other dish on the menu I truly enjoy as much as the soup.

Ate there twice and the food tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. This was some time ago so maybe the food is now better prepared…

Went here for dinner and was soo disappointed. Ordered the 199.00 Family Special and they literally had nothing on the menu. Owner came out and kept saying«We can sub you a bigger lobster, crabs for the lobster, or fish or clams…» and when we picked crabs, she came back 5 minutes later and said they couldn’t sub it… she suggested we get the«bigger» lobster but would have to charge us an extra 25.00.Waittttt…if you have a preset menu, why would you NOT have what you offer?! And then come out and offer us a sub and come back and say, oh sorry, we can’t do it. I was aggravated to the 10th power. Food was lackluster and if it wasn’t for me dining with my whole family, I would have walked out. Auto gratuity was added($ 43.00) and wasn’t deserved. I won’t ever be going back.

Love this place! It’s clean, the wait staff is very friendly, and the food is amazing! I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t like! I’ve had both Vietnamese and Chinese here and it doesn’t disappoint! The egg rolls are very good, taste very fresh! The sweet and sour dipping sauce is addictive! The seafood bird nest is the prettiest dish I’ve ever ordered and it was really good! The bùn is really good! The portions here are a little smaller, but it’s quality over quantity! Highly recommend!

This is my new favorite viet/chinese restaurant!!! I’ve driven by this place for years and never stopped in. My boyfriend and I decided to try it after a not so pleasing experience a few blocks over(same type of cuisine) I’ll start by saying that parking is spacious. The décor outside is inviting. Inside is amazing. Very tastefully done. No gaudy fake chinese-american clutter here. Live lobster tank(tank is very clean, big lobsters ready to be plucked from the water to the chef) The hostess is friendly and we were promptly seated. Waiter was professional, knowledgeable and returned quickly with our drinks and an appetizer. Which appeared to be the chinese version of chips n dip. It consisted of crispy, fried shoestrings of tempura? batter with a sweet sauce that hinted towards apples. VERYGOOD. Next was our soup. I had wonton soup and it was very good. Hot, large wontons with a good amount of meat. Boyfriend had egg drop. Equally good. For my entrée I had the general tao chicken. I anticipated chunks of dark meat, heavily breaded with a thick, dark brownish orange sauce that’s excessively sweet, like you get at every other chinese restaurant. NOTHING like that! What was set before me was white meat chunks, very lightly breaded and golden in color. The sauce was drizzled throughout and had a tangy, spicy flavor. Vegetables were lightly cooked and tasted fresh. Fried rice was equally fresh tasting and very good. In fact, it was so good we went back the next day. Had a party in the private room so it was a little loud but not so much that it was distracting. Again, great service, excellent food.

Food is okay with all kinds of Asian food. I love the crispy calamari. Their wings are good too. It’s also kid friendly with a kid menu, it comes with ice cream but you have to ask for it or they forget.

I love it here! This food is awesome! The service is generally impeccable. Occasionally I have a server who is new and cannot answer menu questions, but they are always friendly. If you don’t like it, its probably because you are working for a competitor. Seriously, I have never had a bad meal or bad service, and Im a picky little thing. Even my teenagers love it. Give it a try. I recommend the Vietnamese hot and sour soup, Bahn mi, pad Thai, and rainbow fish. My kids stick to the more run of the mill Chinese style dishes. The décor isn’t lavish, but its a bit flashy, and always clean. I feel comfortable here in shorts or in a cute dress. Part of the huge menu is items only with no explanations in English. This is where the good stuff is. If I lived closer, I would eat here more often, so I could just try everything on the menu.

Went here once with my parents-in-law and sister-in-law’s son for lunch. I had phở, mom had pad thai and kid had phở. The last time I went there was 3 weeks ago because I promised to take a friend of mine out for her bday. The dinner was ok but it upset my stomach because it wasnt used to the grease. By grease I mean fried chicken wings drenched in a sweet chili sauce, the Dragon Wings, which was good but again the stomach didnt like. We also had the roasted duck which came with some buns, it was an over rated 19 bucks. I love me some duck skin, once again, stomach wasnt agreeable with all the duck fat I was eatin’. For veggies, we had the string beans, which was great, but once again had grease in it because they used oil to make it ‘shine’ or look presentable. Awesome dinner and service. The owner allowed us to peak into the smaller banquet room that was set up for a baptism dinner that night. I didnt know they had one but now that I know, I can add this to my places to go for small gathering or party. The food is good and the service was on par. Cannot complain. The parking lot is big enough, also it’s right on Manhattan, you cannot pass it up. 3 stars for good food and service. Great for big parties and family dining, has chinese-american menu, accepts cash and credit.

I went yesterday and had a great experience. My review is a SOLID4 stars. I’m a picky eater, and my order was crafted just as I requested. A great meal at a great price. I will definitely go back– and many times over!

The food I ordered here was delicious, especially after an invigorating hike in the swamp*. I can’t remember exactly what we ordered, some tofu, some noodles. However, the vegetarian soup is completely on-point and a must order. The prices are a bit expensive for what they are, but I am a spoiled Californian who has a plethora of delicious Chinese/Vietnamese food available at all times, for a fraction of the price. Worth checking out, especially if you are a vegetarian. *Yes, I hike in the swamp now. I am incredibly outdoorsy. I also did not scream because I was afraid of a mosquito. I would never do that.

Before Katrina I survived on August Moon’s special fried rice from Prytania location bc it was tasty, they brought it to me and I would eat on it for days. On an adventure to the WB with a friend, we decided to check it out before heading back to the EB. Of course we were not let down. We arrived still in time for the lunch special. The special includes your choice of a fried yummy treat and soup. I ordered the moo goo gai pan with crab rangoons and egg drop soup. This combo is one of my personal faves. I can eat it every day. I have to say though, this isn’t THE best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but it’s freak’n pretty close. And for the cost of this meal… $ 13.00!!! Yup! One thing I must mention that I wasn’t pleased with was the service. Our server needs to step up her game. Bc this place is new, it’s much nicer then it’s sister restaurant. They Prytania location needs some updating with the décor fo sho. I usually either pick up my order or have it delivered but still the atmosphere and décor is old school.

This place is quite different from the Chinese restaurants I have been to. Whenever I visit, I must say the place is VERYCLEAN, the food is DELICIOUS, and the employees are tentative to their costumers but they may be wandering around(so you gotta catch their attention sometimes.) To save you some time, my favorite dishes are: 1) Lemon Grass Shrimp(It has a spice to it.) 2) Peking duck(Make sure you eat it with the bun and the brown sauce.) 3) Seafood Ap Chao 4) Lau(Hotpot — preferably seafood)

My family and I really love August Moon. It’s really good Vietnamese family style dinners for an amazing price! I’ve been here a couple of times. Food is ALWAYS fresh and steaming hot when it comes to our table. Servers are friendly and the owner oftentimes walk around to make sure we were properly served. We once got the 10 course family dinner and more recently tried the 6 course family menu. It’s the best deal.10 courses for $ 199 and the 6 course dinner for $ 96. We loved every dish! Highlights were: Lemon Grass Shrimp! OUTOFTHISWORLDDELICIOUS! I also enjoy the Calamari. We love the Fish in Claypot and really enjoyed all the Hot Pots. The Fish Hot Pot had a hint of Lemongrass flavor which hides the smell of the catfish. making the broth very refreshing. The fried banana with icecream were the perfect ending. Gotta try this place; so far no complaints about any dishes.

I’ll save you the hassle and just list the items I enjoyed 1) Peking Duck 2) Seafood Pan-Fried Nooidles 3) Spicy Crispy Stir Fried Squid Then there’s che chuoi(banana custard/soup) for dessert. Keep in mind this is a family style restaurant. Order items and share! You’ll enjoy the variety.

Christmas night, the only place on Manhattan Boulevard that was open! I went here with my BFF because she hadn’t eaten all day and we had some catching up to do. For apps we ordered steamed spring rolls, which was quite bland. For such a SLOW night(the staff outnumbered the guests) the efficiency of the service was ridiculous. My friend was half done with her(too sweet) Pad Thai when my DELICIOUS Coconut Curry Chicken dish came. I ate some and took the rest to go since she was practically done. My dish was amazing but the service sucked for being such a slow night and what appeared to be a full staff. Also, the prices are RIDICULOUS. Some of the prices on the menu were on par with fine dining, and this place, clearly, is not.
