Wychmere Beach Club

This is a tough review to write.
I was recently in a wedding here, and while most things were perfect, including Karen the phenomenal wedding planner, what they got wrong was a BIG mistake.
I’m going through allergy testing right now, and months before the wedding the bride provided the club with the list of foods I could not have. I would have been content to eat ahead of time and not eat there, or provide my own food (I have been doing this for almost a year now, it’s no big deal) but they were very assuring that they would deal with the allergies.
When given my meal, a man came out and told me to wait, as they checked for the 3^rd or 4^th time that it was safe for me to eat. Then I got the go ahead my meal was allergen-​free. About ¹⁄₃ of the way through (which I will say was delicious), someone ran out from the kitchen and ripped the plate out from in front of me. I had been given the wrong meal. That food I had just been eating was NOT safe for me.
They are VERY lucky that my illness (eosinophillic esophagitis) does not present with anaphylaxis. If it happened to someone else, who had that type of allergy… who knows.
For me, the symptoms may appear as late as 2 weeks later, as severe heartburn, painful swallowing, esophageal narrowing, and vomiting. But it may not present in that way at all. The only way to know for sure is at my next allergy test, which I have been preparing for for 3 months, which now all my hard work may have been for nothing.

Honestly the most gorgeous wedding I have been to! I was shocked by the gorgeous bridal hotel suites and the wedding venue. Out onsite every planner was so great and on top of every detail! Highly recommended!

These folks really have it dialed in when it comes to running a wedding. This was the third wedding for my wife and me so we have been down this path before. Here are the pluses:
1. The venue is incredible. The rooms look out over the harbor and habor entrance as well as having views of the ocean. The rooms are very light with plenty of room for the ceremony, dinner and dancing. A+
2. The service was top flight. Everything was served promptly by a staff that was very pleasant. A+
3. Food: I am little weak on this part since as the father of the bride I spent a great deal of time talking and less time eating. What I had was excellent. A
4. Organization: They are hyper organized. The woman that ran the event was wonderful. With that said she takes no prisoners. This railroad runs on time. I suspect the one review by a guest that felt she was not treated properly was in all likelihood stepping out of line. A+
5. Price: Well we live in Massachusetts and it is the Cape so it is not inexpensive. As my wife said «She is your daughter so shut up Michael and get out your checkbook.» She was of course right… it was well worth it. A

Our Wedding was literally perfect. From the moment we walked through the doors and met with Kristen, no one was salsey, the grounds were breathtaking and we knew we had to have our wedding with Wychmere. Ryan, my Husband and I got married in the Harbor room July 3, 2015. Our band lead singer told me that I had to work with Karen Rood, and thank the good lord we got assigned to her. Karen is incredible, I am depressed that I won’t get to talk to her on a regular basis any more. She is warm, polished, organized, and a total straight shooter. She never tried to push us into any decisions, helped us make the right decisions for our budget and plan a beautiful wedding. I am extremely high touch, lots of questions and work in Client Services myself. Karen was always patient with me, and made me feel at ease and comfortable that her and her staff were in total control. I was sold on Wychmere from my multiple trips to the venue and meeting with Karen, but I had to wait for some guest feedback before writing this review.
Feedback was incredible — «best food I’ve ever had at a wedding» «That room was breathtaking, so new and updated with the incredible wood work» «the fire pit was adorable and the best oasis from the party to have a cigar and relax» «Can we just got there to eat? or stay the weekend? it felt like a destination wedding»
Ryan and I were ushered to the Bridal suite after the Ceremony on the Hydrangea lawn for a drink, a deep breathe and some alone time to talk and enjoy the past apps we had selected. I loved it, I never would have gotten to the food if I had to thank people at cocktail hour and try to eat.
Karen gave us an awesome customized Wychmere throw blanket with our wedding date. We had a big rowdy wedding party and lots of people running around and she really managed to keep everyone in line and make sure everyone was having fun.
I looked at a few different venues last year, Wequassett was a close 2^nd. Wychmere won the business because they treated me like a person, respected my budget, gave me great recommendations like Meredith Fancy and hotels in Dennis Port and really seemed to have a vested interest in me and Ryan and us having the best day. I will miss you guys! but I have an awesome anniversary date, so I’ll be back to stay sometime in years to come :)

The most gorgeous venue in New England. My husband and I feel so blessed to have been able to have held our wedding reception here. We had a large wedding and everyone who attended raved about the food, location, service and overall atmosphere of Wychmere. Every single staff member we came in contact with from our wedding coordinator to the wait staff were absolutely phenomenal. The views and décor are out of this world. It was pricey but worth every penny, and we wish to thank everyone at Wychmere for making our wedding so magical. Our day could not have been better!

THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING!!! My husband and I just got married here last weekend and it was perfect.
I am sure that having that view alone they could do well but the staff here goes above and beyond to make sure your day is perfect. Karen Rood is absolutely the most amazing and organized person. She made sure I was constantly in the know and made sure that my type A personality didn’t have to worry about anything this big day.
Here are just some of the amazing things she did for me:
1. She made sure a golf cart was there to pick me up before first look photos and the ceremony as well as my bridal party and elderly family members.
2. She made sure we had a number of passed food from our cocktail hour. But instead of stuffing us in a small room-​let us enjoy it on the beach with a cocktail. This was my favorite part of the night because I got to enjoy the food, view, and husband before walking into the madness of cocktail hour.
3. She let us see our reception hall before they opened the doors so we could enjoy all the small details we had added.
4. Wychmere gave us a blanket to «keep our love warm» with our wedding date on it.
This place is the perfect and I mean PERFECT place to have an amazing cape cod beach wedding. Thank you so so much for everything.

We had our wedding here. Beautiful views-​I fell in love immediately. Pricey but great food, great staff. Newly renovated. Accommodations were great. (A/​c was sometimes an issue b/​c it is very old building). Make sure you ask if they are double-​booking weddings –there were 5 the weekend we were married). They have a couple different venues. Pool/​restaurant/​bar were great– just what you’d need for a nice day at the pool/​beach. I can’t wait to stay again with family.

Great wedding experience. All aspects awesome. Only downside was bad pa system of the band. Didn’t cover the long thin room.

So this is coming from someone who choose to host their wedding elsewhere… Wychmere is AMAZING! Besides being a beautiful property, you CAN NOT beat the personal service! Sarah is, possibly, the most engaged event coordinator I have ever had the pleasure of working with. If you want to feel absolutely confident that your wedding will be handled with a personal attention to detail, you have found your place! Wish we could have our wedding here, but a recent move (military) made the logistics of getting our family to the Cape too much.

Visited the property recently. WOW, amazing venue for a wedding. Pretty, beachy, high end yet not stuffy, stellar views. sooo romantic.

We recently attended a wedding here and I thought this was a very nice spot to begin a new life. As Cape weather would have it, we had recently had 2 weeks of sun and then it went downhill. Rapidly. 15 to 30 mile an hour winds, rain, clouds, and well the outdoor wedding was rapidly moved inside for 200. This decision was made 2 hours before the actual wedding and I thought that was pretty decent as many functions of this size require an earlier decision. The room on the second floor of this historic former Thompson’s clam bar was just the right size to maybe a touch cramped but had good ventilation, sound and still a view of Nantucket sound behind the bride and groom that was unique and awesome.
Ok now it’s over they are married and it’s time to drink. Pretty much a 50 yard dash to the bar but wait the receiving line. Thank goodness for champagne and those who realized there were 150 guests behind them waiting for a stiff one. So we make it to the bar and perfect 5 bartenders at an oversized very cool weird shaped bar that handled the crowd perfectly. Love the open bar. Good job oh married ones. Out come the appetizers which are both passed and then very nicely a similar selection is set up 1 step down in a lower level overlooking Wychmere Harbor. I grazed down there and entertained the best looking bridesmaids ever with my stories of great whites in Chatham. Oops the wife saw me. «Just getting you some appetizers!»
The appetizers were a combination of very good scallops wrapped in bacon and perfectly cooked and other passed goodies that I was late to the gate for. There was a really good Guacamoli on toast and then topped with goat cheese and I think some caviar. Great selection of cheeses and then the dinner. Oh by the way the band was Flip Side from Boston (very good.) All the selections for dinner were fine and a variation from the typical wedding of chicken or fish.
So the ambience of the old Thompson’s remains the view outstanding and the waitstaff and organization well done. Concidering a large function or wedding… not bad. The function rooms are long and narrow which I actually liked so I could hide. Parking very good and loads of space everywhere… the view!
