Schoolhouse Scoop

Schoolhouse Scoop is great! The ice cream is delicious and reasonably priced. It’s one of my kids favorite places to go in the summertime.

The ice cream is very good, but the really unique thing here is the popcorn. The have a mixed popcorn, cheddar, caramel that’s fantastic!

I just found my new ice cream place outside of the metro area…
This place rocks! The flavors are unique, packed with flavor, and fun sounding. One of them was called Playdough. It was almond flavored blue ice cream with these little rainbow colored bits that had the consistency of dough and it gave the ice cream an almost playdoh taste, it was actually really good! I had the Cookie Monster flavor (cookie dough and oreos) which was amazing and my wife enjoyed the Birthday cake. Prices were comparable to a Cold Stone or Dairy Queen.
The coolest thing besides the groovy flavors and very, very nice staff was what they call an extra credit scoop. A baby scoop on top of a flavor you want to try. How cool and generous is that?
Also if you dare, try the Sweet Sixteen. A large bowl of 16 scoops of ice cream and if you eat it all you get honored on their wall of fame. Neat place, stop by if you are in Hastings. You won’t be disappointed.

I am thankful there is a place like «Schoolhouse Scoop» in town. My kids find such joy in getting ice cream here — thank goodness the «Superman» flavor is always on hand. The owners are friendly, and the other workers are always patient and efficient. I take my kids there often, and during one visit, the owner gave me a punch-​card and was nice enough to add punches for previous visits — I didn’t even ask her to do this. She remembered us and did this for us. Very nice! For quality ice cream, it’s not too spendy either. The popcorn is amazing too — great gift idea if you want to give someone a local-​type gift. This is a great place to support and I hope it’s around for years to come.

Great ice cream shop! Kids rate the ice cream 5 of 5 stars, and I’ll give it 5 stars for price.
My son dropped his cone, and the server gave a replacement scoop for free.

I only do ice cream a couple times a year. Not a big sweet tooth or ice cream aficionado. The ice cream at Schoolhouse definitely hit the spot, though.
Stopped in on a whim after a trip to Trashy Island. With an extra twenty bucks in my pocket from the Island, decided some ice cream was in order. Like Izzy’s, they have 32 different flavors. Got the cinnamon and the pumpkin. They make it thick and creamy — the way it should be.
Like Izzy’s, they give you an extra little scoop of your choosing — called an extra credit scoop at Schoolhouse. Unlike Izzy’s, there is no line and it is much cheaper. Paid less than three bucks for a double scoop, as compared to five bucks at Izzy’s for a single scoop.
Probably not a very convenient location for most. Worth a stop if you are in Hastings or passing through.

Best ice cream around, friendly staff, clean environment! A must stop if you are around or going through Hastings! We went for my son’s second birthday and they didn’t have the the flavor he wanted up front, but they were adamant about trying to make his birthday complete. They found and pulled a fresh one of the kind he wanted from in back and added it to their flavors! Such a special touch that will definitely keep us coming back!

Awesome place for ice cream, 32 flavors and the people here are so great. Very clean and comfortable place to stop. As good as it gets, ya you betcha.

How is it that I haven’t written a review for the Scoop before now? This is my daughter’s favorite ice cream place (she looooves Moose Tracks), so I drive her down not infrequently.
The ice cream is great, the prices don’t break the bank, and the people working are genuinely friendly. You can’t ask for more than that.
