Brendel’s Bagels & Eatery

It is a little bit more expensive than other bagel stores by me, BUT the bagels are phenomenal. For some reason, I have an issue finding bagel stores that consistently have sunflower seed flagels, but Brendel’s never fails.
The place itself is nice, and their are a lot of seats. They also have a coffee station, so you can make your own coffee to ensure that it is to your liking, which I love.
Today, I had a semi bad experience because my bagel did not have enough cream cheese, which is one of the worst things to happen. When I asked for more, the staff was extremely apologetic and very accommodating, and gave me more cream cheese free of charge.
I 100% recommend this bagel store, and I 10 000 000 000% recommend their sunflower seed flagels with olive cream cheese!!!

This place sucks. Don’t waste your time or your money. They never get to order right. The cold cuts on the sandwich were cut real thick and drenched in mayo. Disgusting! The side salad was just as bad. Long stingy pieces of old cabbage. It was so wet with mayo that the sandwich was soaked. The staff is very busy bullshitting so you wait forever and you have to repeat your order every 2 seconds because the staff doesn’t pay attention. The manager is running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. Very poor! It’s a shame b/​c the place is close and convenient. We have several people that go out to eat lunch everyday but will not be going back to this shit hole anytime soon.

Very friendly staff and the food is great. Perfect for lunch, take out or eat in. The bagels are great and the bakery, although small, is fresh and tasty.

Place is horrible, the bald guy there hates life and has a horrible attitude. If you ask for chicken cutlets you better be prepared to eat that cutlet cold or steaming hot out of a microwave lmao. The place is a shithole, looks nice and pretty when you walk in but behind that counter is a family of assholes.

Really love their bagels and cream cheeses, and their wonderful customer service! Don’t love their bitter coffee, that is the one drawback that keeps me from getting my food here more often. I come here knowing I’ll probably get an OJ or Starbucks bottle or something with my bagel, instead of hot coffee.
*Update* they got rid of the sticky, nasty glaze on the rainbow bagels, yayyyy!!! So good again! Get one, they will brighten your day!

Just had my first visit this morning. Food was good, service was good and seating area was good. I ordered one of the breakfast burrito wraps and it was quite yummy. Menu was impressive and since we were there early, I can imagine that the lunch menu is even more extensive.
Will visit again and try out the rainbow bagel next time-​so disappointed I missed it!

food is always great and staff very professional !! Andrew gets it done and does it right!

against my better judgement i stop in for a breakfast sandwich, two people ahead of me on the line and still took 18 minutes for one of their breakfast wraps… alot of people behind the counter working, always seem busy but nothing seems to get done in a timely fashion! third time and dont even bother going on a saturday morning it will be a long wait

3 stars is perfect for this place. It is OK. Sandwiches-​OK, Bagels-​OK, Prices-​OK I have been here a few times and can’t tell you one memorable thing I had, but I also didn’t have something I thought was bad.

Went here today for lunch for the first time, despite the mixed reviews. I called in a sandwich ahead of time. The young lady on the phone was professional and more than courteous. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes, and it was. The interior of the deli is pretty spread out. With a much larger selection than i had expected. Food prep surfaces were clean, and well maintained which these days isn’t all that common. The food is excellent. The ingredients seem fresh, the cucumber salad is on the sweeter side which is a refreshing change. And for about $ 10 with a drink, the price is more than fair for the amount and quality of food you get. I’ll be going back here quite often. Now excuse me while I finish the rest of my «Bianco Panini» (which I highly recommend).

The bagels here are amazing. My mother and I were visiting family on long island and we stopped in brendels bagels on our way back to maryland. We ordered 2 dozen bagels to bring home nd were given half a dozen extra bagels free! Such a great selection! Next time I am in new York you better believe I’m stopping in again!

«Swindlers,» that should become their new name because their manager just tried to swindle me out of $ 5 for the smoothie I told him I didn’t want. Right from the get go my experience was extremely unpleasant. They claim their smoothies are made from «fresh fruit,» yet upon further inspection and I quote word for word from the managers mouth yes they use «fresh frozen concentrate.» This, ladies and gentleman is unacceptable. The smoothies taste like your drinking straight syrup and after complaining to the manager that I didn’t want it he said ok and continued to ring me up. He said exactly this, 13.50 for your tuna fish sandwich. I paid and realized that 13 dollars for a sandwich was way too much and then proceeded to ask if he charged me for the smoothie, and of course he said yes. He returned the owed money and I left furious.
Besides their terrible customer service, on numerous occasions I’ve received bags of food from them that were soaked with grease. I’ll never return. Funny thing is my friend that I was with had a similar experience the day before and we had intended on going to hot bagels but decided to give «swindlers,» another shot.

Working in an office in Hauppauge we have numerous deli’s to choose from. We usually have our go to but decided to give Brendel’s a try. Highly regret that decision. First, the food is eh, okay, but don’t expect to get what you ordered. It takes about an hour and a half to get your order on a good day and we are literally a block away. When you call they say it’s on it’s way but they are lying unless the delivery guy decided to take a 45 minute detour. The delivery guy is an older gentleman who seems to complain about everything. If he doesn’t get the tip he thinks he deserves he will say something. If you are in an office and looking to order breakfast… choose elsewhere. You would be highly disappointed if Brendel’s was your option.

There are plenty of delis in the area, but we switch it up from time to time. Brendel’s is one of the places in which nour office orders from. The past three times we’ve had issues of insane lateness. You figure it’d take, what, an hour tops to deliver some simple breakfast food? We’ve waited hours. We could have went to another deli, ordered, sat and ate there, taken a nap, went back to work and we’d still have time to spare before Brendel’s would deliver. Even a phone call an hour and a half into waiting nets you a brush off from the person picking up the phone. No «Sorry» or anything. They will probably lie and say that the food is on its way, but it takes another hour to get here. I could’ve traveled to the city and gotten food in that time.
The food, overall, is fine. It’s like any other deli out there. It is nothing special by any means, but it isn’t bad.
Aside from terrible delivery time, they seem to get orders wrong, even if you fax the order in so they have it right in front of their faces. We’ve had them mess up sandwiches (Wrong cheese, for example) and down right forget other items such as drinks that are supposed to come FREE with ordered items.
Do yourself a favor and support the competition, whoever it may be.

My husband and I have been coming here for years. I usally buy my lunch in the morning and all the teachers want to know where I got it. So I got a Bagel hero for my schools luncheon. It was amazing and everyone loved it!

Love this place! Hot fresh bagels (with cream cheese) that taste better than any other! Make mine an everything bagel, toasted! This trip I had an omelete too, with bacon, cheese, mushroom and tomato. Wonderful! This is a great deli as well, deli meat and cheese, different salads. So very good! If I lived in Hauppauge, I’d eat here every day!

I visit Brendel’s every now and then for lunch. The menu selection is tremendous. They have a huge assortment of salads, custom sandwiches, heros, soups, and hot lunch. The food in general is always fresh and tasty and it appears as though everything is home made. The breads for heros and sandwiches however are sometimes stale. The bagels are great and always soft and fresh.
The only problems I’ve ever encountered were the stale breads, and sometimes the staff is grouchy. Especially the older woman with blond hair. Every time she served me and others in line, she was grouchy, abrupt, and sarcastic. For this reason alone, I probably wont visit there as much anymore. I am very big on customer service, smiles, and thank you’s Otherwise its a decent deli.

Decent food. No better or worse than any of the other 5 delis within 2 mile radius. I will say the selection is larger though.
Problem for me is the service. Not sure if it is the owner or just a disgruntled manager but everytime I go in the place this guy has a wise azz comment about something…
They also get my order wrong three out of five times and then stomp their feet and pout when they have to remake it. The latest issue will be the last for me.
I mean, I only ordered an egg sandwhich! how hard can it be, if you can’t get it right then maybe you should WRITE IT DOWN instead of asking me ten times «do you want ketchup?’ and I answer «no» and then you put ketchup on it anyway.
Overall I could take or leave the food but sometimes you just don’t want to have to worry about getting into an uncomfortable confrontaion over an egg sandwhich. So I will not be going back.

Brendel’s has an amazing selection of bagels, salads, paninnis and sandwiches. They also do tacos, quesadillas, wraps, and much more. I appreciate the selection of chips, cookies, and fruits, as I occasionally crave something to munch on while at work.
The staff is nice and helpful, and go out of their way to please you :-)
