«50% clearance on select styles» signs littered the front window and store this afternoon, but none of the shoes in women’s size 7 ½ or 8 were discounted as such. Selection was poor, and the prices were too high when considering Payless shoes are cheap quality. I considered getting a pair of cheap heels for $ 25, but they rang up at the register $ 5 higher than the price on the box. When I pointed this out to the cashier, she said they must have forgotten to remove an old sales tag. Waste of time.

When you have big feet, there are far fewer options for buying shoes. Payless is one of them. I used to pay big bucks for shoes but since A. I wear the hell out of my shoes and B. I like to have many options, paying a lot didn’t make sense. This location doesn’t have as good an over size 10 selection as the North Andover store, but it’s closer to me. Depending on when you go in, you may encounter either a grumpy older woman who looks at you like she can’t wait for you to leave or an overzealous younger girl who really really wants to help. Prices are creeping up for the quality you get. If you give them your email, you can get alerts on sales and coupons. Tip: save your ink & just note the coupon number, that’s all they need. Also, sometimes they don’t have the larger sizes you want but you can order them shipped to the store. Then if they don’t fit, you can just return them on the spot. Makes me a little nutty that I have to pay just to get them to the store to try on.
