I didn’t visit the store.
We were having dinner at Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers in Leesburg, VA and saw a couple of their chocolate bars being sold near the cashier. Being a big fan of all things chocolate, of course I had to try one of these bars. The chocolate is smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet. At almost $ 6 a bar (price sold at Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers), these puppies are on the pricier side but I appreciate the high quality chocolate. You can taste the difference. Glad to have tried Lucas Home Made Candies.

I have been going there since I am 2 years old. i am now 59. My aunt lived upstairs above the store, and the Captain, Nicky’s father, use to bring me downstairs to the store thru the elevator. I would pick out whatever I wanted. Easter baskets were always my favorite. This is a Haverstraw landmark that will always be. They are the last of the «good old days». Its worth the trip wherever you live to go there. You will not be disappointed. They have never ever changed the way they make their candy. They are by far the best.

Amazing hidden gem in Haverstraw ny.
They make their own Chocolate and candy and the like and cover everything in chocolate. Oreos, pretzels, nutter butters… almond crunch… They make all sorts of special holiday treats and chocolate covered fruit for special occasions. This is where to go for Easter, Halloween baskets and so forth and so on.
Thanksgiving chocolate cornucopias! You name it!
They have this bar called the pms bar… Peanut butter, marshmallows and salted potato chips in a chocolate bar! Yum… And more…
