Loved it! It was great for the kids! I’m not a fan of luaus but I was pretty happy with this one. They had a buffet for the kids and they let them eat when ever they wanted to start. I understand that fire dancing really isn’t the Hawaiian culture but it is the Tahitian culture and the kids loved it…

Great selection of food! The hostess was fantastic. Being my first luau, having to sit in a cement courtyard was disappointing. It would be 4 stars if it were in a more natural setting or with more reasonable pricing.

Food wasn’t great pig didn’t have great flavor. Most people went for the kids chicken strips and macaroni and cheese rather than the menu they had for adults. I really didn’t Iike how they treated everyone who didn’t pay for preferred seating like second-class citizens. Whoever was not in preferred seating didn’t get a waitress to get drinks and didn’t get a glass cup to have water a lot of unnecessary perks for preferred seating that could have been done for everyone easily. Dancers for great host for the show was fun.

I was disappointed with this show. I researched all the luaus in the vicinity of our hotel online. I chose to go with this one because it was only 15 minutes away from our hotel. Also, the menu looked more appetizing than the other luaus. In addition, it offered VIP seating with valet & unlimited drinks! I figured, this is going to be our family’s first luau & I’m willing to pay the price to have a great experience. Our seating was not worth paying the extra money. I liked how a drink was served to you as you enter the area, but the drinks were either watered down or sugared up. The food was mediocre. Most of it was cold. The appetizers were okay(macadamia nuts, taro chips, & others). The pork meat was dry. I liked the taro bread. The desserts were okay. As for the show, I expected a more authentic presentation. It was so commercialized. I don’t know if I’ll ever attend another luau, unless somebody I know highly recommends it.

Going to luaus is a touristy thing to do, but who cares? We lived in Hawaii for a long time but when we go back to visit we always go to a luau. This was our 2nd time at the Waikoloa luau and it was fun. The food is good, the entertainment is on point. The kids loved the dancing and the fire. Good family fun.

Here is wishing I could have 3 hours of my life back. The drinks were all sugar with a quarter worth of rot gut liquor. The food tasted like salt. There may of been so thing else there but the salt covered up any flavor of the meat itself. The food was sitting out when u came in. So most of it was setting in the sun wrapped up for up to an hour before being served. The show was pathetic. People n the stage looking for there 10 min of fame. The chow or the entertainment between the story was cheesy no enthusiasm what so ever. The whole show was a brainwash to make you think hawaii is paradise when in fact this show was shit sold for 100 $ a person… 8 drinks later i felt more diabetic then even slightly intoxicated. The only cool part about the show was the guys twirling fire but the main guy dropped his close to 5 times. Unprofessional for what we thought we were getting. Didn’t even feel like real culture just made up tourist shit…

We attended this dinner show(5−18−14) and it was simply okay. We paid for upgraded seating but still had to go thru the buffet not served family style as mentioned. The drink selection was plentiful but I think they forgot to add the alcohol; I am not a big drinker but not to taste it at all was surprising! As for as the food was concerned … I have had better… The foods that were supposed to be hot were barely warm which diminished their flavor greatly. The venue seating was only half full which was quite surprising at first but now I understand why. The show itself was okay… The premier fire dancer dropped the fire swords numerous times… and it was odd to see a Caucasian male as one of the dancers… He was good but if the show was to be based on the history of Hawaii a native Hawaiian would have been more suitable. All in all, I would not recommend this luau … Over priced and not worth it!

Entertaining evening. We had the better seats close to the front and had a great view of the show. Love that right when you walk in they hand you a drink. The blue Hawaiians were the best. They had appetizers and fun things for the kids to keep us entertained before it began. The food was very Hawaiian — I’m not a huge fan of Hawaiian food so I’m not a good judge. I’ve seen just about every Cirque show in Vegas so I wasn’t as impressed with the fire dancers as everyone else but from what I understand, they were very good in comparison to other fire dancers at other luaus. I really liked the MC. He was like a Hawaiian Wayne Newton. They even had a little place for the kids to sit up close which was great! I definitely recommend this luau!!! The service was phenomenal as well!

Three stars for food and five stars for the performance which averages this out to a four star review. This was the second time our family has hit a luau in the islands(the first being on Maui years ago). Most luaus on the Big Island are about the same price and offer similar food. Of course, its going to be expensive but its a one time experience that everyone should try once(our little ones never went to the first one on account of not being born yet). Leis were sold along with hand drawn tattoos by the performers at the beginning. Staff was friendly and attentive. The spread was diverse and extensive. There were salads, poke and a general mix of hot food(fish, Molokai sweet potatoes in macadamia nut sauce, braised short ribs, grilled chicken and of course Kalua pig). The food in general I must say was salty with the short ribs being the most edible item. Dessert was so-so consisting of coconut pudding, mango tarts, chocolate and other assorted cakes. It should be mentioned that there is unlimited beer and cocktails throughout. The performance was fun and entertaining. As a plus, the kids are invited to sit up front on pillows in a special space so that they can fully enjoy the experience and not worry about being blocked out by adults. Another tip is that unlike other luaus, the on at the Waikoloa Hilton is fairly small and intimate so there is no need for anyone to spend the extra 20 bucks a person for the Alii(or special) seating. There is no bad seat and you can see everything clearly from the back. The only difference is that you get a plate of dessert on your table and more frequent check ins by the server. Definitely a decent luau experience for anyone who wants to try.

The two stars are for the dancers. They did a good job with their show. The MC was ok, but I think his delivery was a bit flat, and his story telling is not as captivating as it could be. The thing that annoyed me about the experience was that they started the dinner by asking everyone to hold hands and the MC said a Christian prayer. It’s just not appropriate. The food is meh. I think they should start the show earlier to keep the mood of the event going. There is like an hour of eating quietly with background music that really slows down the whole event. Definitely not worth the $ 100+ price tag.

I attended last nights luau. As local girl, born and raised, we were told stories of pele, poliahu, kamehameha, so forth. They portrayed a very interesting and great experience for myself. The story telling goes so much into detail about hawaii and it’s gods and goddesses. The staff was tremendous. Pat, the manager, was amazing. He sat us in ali’i seating, which was front row seats and butler service on the drinks. *need I say more*. The food was great and they had so much varieties of hawaiian food. The great thing about this food buffet is that for kids especially, it was kid-oriented. So they had a small station set up with Mac and cheese, French fries, and chicken strips. The dancers, both men and women, were fantastic. They did such a good job. A few drops here and there on the fire dancers, but nothing major. Great great job! Definitely worth seeing! Oh, and before you go in you can get your pic taken and purchase them after the show.

We enjoyed the entertainment And food! We were given the holo holo discount card upon check in and was discounted $ 40 per person! We did not get VIP seating but was close enough to the food and unlimited drinks! The food was all Hawaiian style delicacies! All tasted great. My favorite was the Parker style short ribs. The lechon was cooking all day. It would have tasted better with lechon sauce from the Philippines! The desserts were plenty. The unlimited open bar for adults was the best! Especially once you walk into the luau someone hands you a Mai tai!!! Love it. The dancers and staff were phenomenal. The fire show was #1!!! Thanks for a great time!

Day 3: love this show and great service! This ISTHE2nd Christmas here and came to the show last year as well. Awesome show… You can even watch the pig go into the imu the morning of the luau! With explanation of step by step set up by Lahela, who is very knowledgable and passionate of the Hawaiian culture! She made THE difference this year! 2nd time here and still very interesting — even from a local from Honolulu…

Visited this passed weekend. The food & service was impeccable but the show was lack luster & boring. I paid for upgraded seats. When I arrived they did not have enough seats for the $ 26 per person upgrade. However, I was greeted by a great Hilton staff member(Pet) who took great care of the error. He really represents the Hilton name & brand well. After sitting with general admission u realized the $ 26 per person upgrade really isn’t worth it. The flame throwers kept dropping the torches & they kept singing songs which made me want to fall asleep. I probably would not attend this luau again.

I thought this was great. I have been to other Luaus. It is hard to find one on the beach now a days, plus the ones on the beach are level and its hard to see the show if you are in the back. This one is on a stage and you have the beach around you. We upgraded to the Ali’i seating. TOTALLYWORTHIT! Instead of waiting for your table to be called to the buffet, you get served family style and your table is right in front. FREEDRINKS! No limit the number of mai tai’s and lava flows. Regular seating you get 2 drinks. Priority seating! The show was great. The host was cheezy, but still pretty entertaining. The kids thought he was funny. Since it is on a stage you don’t get any obstructed views. I stood in the back for a little bit(my daughter thought it was too loud — we were sitting right in front of the stage) PLENTY of FOOD. Our table had a total of 10 adults and 4 kids, and we still had left overs. Price includes valet parking. Upgrade to Ali’i sitting totally worth the $ 26 Food: tuna was great, Ono was bit salty for me, so I did not add any more sauce to it. Pork was falling of the bone tender. Chicken was tender, desserts were YUMMY. Show was awesome! The best part was the Fire performance. It was great. 3 different performers. They did a little bit of everything. The story of Pele, The Maui Cowboys and hula grass skirts. It was a great mix. I would totally recommend this show for families. Our kids loved it(with the exception of our daughter during the drumming, she thought it was too loud) You can walk to the back and watch the show and still see everything. Bathrooms are clean and close by. They even had a kid’s buffet with chicken fingers, fries, mac n cheese.(under 5 is FREE).

I’ve been to 3 luau on the Hawaiian islands so far(1 at the PCC on Oahu, this one, and the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui), and this is, by far, THE worst luau so far! I didn’t know how bad this luau was until we had our Maui luau the next night… it’s literally day and night, people! We weren’t planning to do a luau on the Big Island until we ran out of ideas of where to eat dinner on our last night. The Hilton was right across the street from our resort, so we thought, «Why not?» We were surprised that we didn’t have any trouble reserving a table when we called about 2 hours before the luau dinner started(we had to wait-list for our Maui luau at Old Lahaina because they were booked at least a month in advance!)…upon arriving at the Hilton, we were pretty impressed by the actual hotel. It was extremely beautiful inside out and they had a cool tram AND a motor boat that people can take to get around the hotel. There was also a waterfall/pool/open beach in the back, which was breath-taking. So of course, the luau must be amazing at such an amazing hotel, right? WRONG! As soon as we arrived at the luau, we had to wait in line for what seems like forever before they started cramming people into a small space to take the luau pictures(which they charge you $ 35 for) and then you were quickly moved to a large amphitheater where long tables and chairs were lined up behind another set of round tables/chairs for the VIP customers. They then started the dinner by doing a quick intro of the history behind Hawaii and their luau dinners — and of course, the famous pig in the pit. But… where is it? It’s nowhere to be seen! Why? Because they’ve already cut up the pig for serving and it’s sitting on a counter in the back drying up as we speak! By the time we got our food, there was literally something wrong with EVERY single item on the dish — either the meat was DRY as hell(chicken and pork alike) or they were under-seasoned/NOT tasty at all. The only thing that made dinner better was the 2 drink tickets that they gave us… even then it took forever to get your drinks because they have 1 person serving an entire area so you either get your order in right when you see him or you have to wait until the end of the meal! It was also very windy that day(it was windy the entire time we were on the Big Island, so you would think that the Hilton would be familiar with the weather), but instead of being prepared, they had very flimsy decorations and things kept falling over and a lot of the dishes were ruined/destroyed because of the wind. So sad… The performance was probably the only highlight of the night. They also had a fire dancer, which was the best part of the show, of course! In the middle of the show, however, it seemed that one of their regular hula girls called out sick and they replaced her with a girl who had NO idea what she was doing(it was VERY clear that she did NOT know what she was doing and our entire table was well amused/entertained)…but that kind of made the performance all the worse after that… If we were to come back to the Big Island, we would definitely try another luau… and definitely NOT this one! Please steer clear, people!
