The food is soooo juicy and delicious! I ordered the wet chicken burrito with extras and it was the best wet burrito I had ever eaten, the fish tacos were fantastic as well! I will be back for more

First, let me start off that the food was surprisingly good… I had some tacos de lengua and were really good. The salsa they give with the chips when you dine is very tasty with a small kick. Their rice and beans are really good too. Now comes the negative… The pozole and other food in their cafeteria type warmer seems old. The pozole tasted old and fatty. The kicker was when my wife found a hair in her chicharrones en chile, she went to show the girl at the register not to get a free but to at least have the people acknowledge the issue but they didn’t even offer an apology or even a replacement. I hadn’t eaten here in years and now might not be back for another very long time. I rarely write bad reviews unless the place really deserves it and I feel this place does! I gave it 3 stars because the food prepared upon request is good but the rest lowered their rating along with the hair.

Best tamales around! Love, love, love these! Service is spectacular! Always kind and attentive, no matter how busy they are and sometimes the line is out the door!!! It’s a definite«hole in the wall», but so worth trying out!!!

Stopped in because I was craving a breakfast burrito. This little place was actually better than I expected! The breakfast burrito was so good and they were really fast!!! It is a little drive from my house, but it is so worth it!

I’ve only my had the posole and it’s pretty good. The customer service sucks. The women there look like they hate their life and their job, no eye contact, no smile, taking your order is like a chore. We walked in and stood there for ten minutes before we walked out. Nobody greeted us, acknowledged us, nothing. They were organizing their tickets and walking by us without saying excuse me. Maybe they had a rough night? Their hair is always sloppy and their make up washed up, maybe if they were more presentable and friendly. So, if you can look passed all this, their posole and their tortillas are yummy. My friend had the enchiladas plate and they were good. They also have pan dulce for a cold day. Enjoy!

So glad I saw this place and read reviews. I was searching for cheese and jalapeño tamales for two days. Called and they were out of all, but pork. Friends and I went to dine in anyhow. A line was out the door so that said a lot. People left with bags full of items and I found out why. Food was beyond fresh and delicious! Cheese actually tasted like REAL cheese! Enchilada sauce was homemade, just like tortillas, tamales, and salsas. Upon leaving, we overheard a lady fussing at the counter. We made light of the situation not knowing we were actually talking to the owner! I mentioned the tamales and just so happen, 6 dozen had just came out of the oven. Wippeee! ;) Things happen for a reason. I got my tamales, ordered, chips & salsa, and ate delicious food. I’ll definitely be back. Kudos to the owner for quality food, quality service, and quality conversation!

Chips and salsa — 5 stars. Chile Relleno — 5 stars. Enchiladas — 5 stars. Mexican bakery items — 5 stars. Spanish rice — 4 stars. Refried beans — 4 stars. Fajitas — 4 stars. Pulled pork dishes — 5 stars! Tamales — 5 stars. Service and Price = 5 stars! Only downside would be very few tables to eat at so be prepared to take your food to go. Tons of customers take food to go so don’t be discouraged if you see a long line… we were in a line of a dozen people and 11⁄12 took food to go and there were tables available for us to eat. No problem! Their tacos look awesome and will be my next order. This place will become a regular spot for you IMHO.

Wow! Before going here I read a lot of their reviews and felt safe to try it out on Sat morning. What a bummer! I spent about $ 35 thinking I got dinner, snack and the next day’s breakfast. I got ½ dz chicken tamales=DRY and salty, beef taqueria which I should’ve canceled since I saw the cook coming from the back freezer holding them in his hands– Gross I couldn’t finish them. And the fideo? How can you mess that up? Well the cook managed. I was pissed that all that craving for good Mexi food was shot down! As I was waiting the owner JULIAN came walking in and his workers were saying hi to him. So I tried saying hi, my first time in your establishment… RUDE! He said nothing back. I’ll stick with Taco San Pedro down the street

Ate here some years ago but don’t remember anything special. Recommended by a friend, didn’t recognize the recommendation until we got there. Line out the door for tamales. Ordered a green chile enchilada, a pork burrito(wet), two pork tamales and a chile relleno. Everything was delicious. One test of quality Mexican food is always their chile relleno, and theirs was unusually fresh-tasting and flavorful. I always say expensive Mexican food(like El Torito – I mean, come on, «Little Bull»?) is not worth the calories(Los Compadres in Long Beach is an exception) and reasonably-priced Mexican food is your best bet. The sauces are exactly what SoCal Mexican food ought to be, and the salsa is a flavorful treat. Not in a wonderful neighborhood, Hawaiian Gardens, but certainly not unpleasant nor threatening. The food is great, the place is clean and the help is there to get you a great Mexican meal promptly.

5 stars for their machaca breakfast burrito! I ordered one to go & loved it. The tortilla was the perfect texture, soft and fluffy. Machaca melts in your mouth. I will definitely be back for breakfast again. This tortilleria is a close second to my mom’s machaca. Their salsa was good, just the right level of spiciness. Service was speedy & prices are reasonable. My favorite about this set up is how spacious parking is. No door dings here! Not even close.

My first time here and had the chorizo burrito. It was delicious! Had yummy beans, cheese, cilantro and onions. Can’t wait to try other menu items!

I love this place! Been going there for years. The food is awesome, reminds me of the kind my abuela use to make in her kitchen. The portions are hefty and they do NOT skimp on the meat! Not expensive either. The champurado is Awesome and is served all day(great drink for chilly evenings!) Tamales have alot of meat and NOT alot of masa.

My go to Mexican restaurant! They have the yummiest salsa ever! I love their chicken fajitas, machaca burritos, chicken tacos, and chicken enchiladas. Also, they have a fabulous pastry section now. Writing this review is making me hungry for their food… yum!!!

3 Stars is only because of their time change for tamale orders. I have been buying tamales from Julians for my clients for the past year. The reason I buy the tamales from Julians is because I am able to pick them up by 6:30am and make it to my clients by 7am. This morning I was informed that pick up for tamales has changed to 7am. I am disappointed because I will no longer be able to purchase tamales from Julians. I purchase 3 dozen tamales 4X a month and now will need to find a new place. Hopefully they will change their times back for tamale pick up or allow you to place an order 24 hours in advance to accommodate those of us that have early client meetings.

Brings some food for the family for breakfast. Dad got a taco plate, Mom got a carnitas burrito and I got a chile verde bowl. My chile verde was tender and juicy. Thumbs up.

Yuck! The cheese enchiladas were really greasy, the restaurant was dirty and the rice was kindof crunchy. I’m pretty sure my enchiladas were microwaved… I stopped by based on Unilocal reviews and was quite disappointed. It is also really loud in the restaurant and there are no restrooms. The people at the counter were handling money, food and baked goods without gloves or washing in between. This place kind of grossed me out. I couldn’t finish my meal… The service was fast… I guess that is a positive, right?

I’ve been coming to Julians since i was a kid. The food has always been good. No complaints. I usually get the hardshell shredded beef tacos. These are the bomb! When im in the mood for carnitas, this is the place. The tamales are all great. Theres enough meat to fill you up. Pork are my favorite but the chile con queso are the bomb as well! Oh the coffee, awesome! Has a hint of cinammon. You will not be disappointed with the food here. Overall, i give Julians 5 stars!

I had such high hopes for Julian’s Tortilleria. I learned of Julian’s sometime back a neighbor of ours. He visited once but honestly the experience must have been so insignificant that I can’t remember. Anyway, my husband woke up one day craving huevos rancheros for breakfast. When he told me what he wanted I began craving them too. I didn’t initially think of Julian’s but while researching on my Unilocal app. up popped Julian’s. The restaurant is a quaint little hole in the wall. When you first pull in to the parking lot can you’re welcomed by the smell of fresh made tortillas. The service a quasi cafeteria style, you order at the register and if the item is from the wall menu then your food is brought to your table. And as per our cravings we both ordered huevos rancheros with a side order of the chicharrones in tomato sauce. Now given the scrumptious scent of fresh made tortillas, I expected equally delicious food. When we got our food I literally thought to myself«WTH?!» Our dish looked nothing like huevos rancheros. Traditionally they are served on a corn tortilla or tostada and topped with salsa. What we got was cheesy eggs on a flour tortilla or as I like to call it an unwrapped breakfast burrito. Not only was the eye appeal lacking but the flavor was completely off and missing too. These were by far the worse wanna be huevos rancheros of my entire life. Not to mention that for a place that makes their own corn tortillas, their tortilla chips tasted stale and were flavorless too. They meal was overall all very disappointing. We ended up stopping at the grocery store and buy the stuff to make huevos rancheros at home, which were exponentially better than Julian’s. I’m not convinced that we will return anytime soon or at all. I certainly can’t recommend this place, at least not for the huevos rancheros.

Julian’s is my go to spot for my breakfast burritos! For $ 6.10 I order a machaca or chorizo burrito, choice of pan and large coffee(An upgrade to a large is $ 0.35) The burritos come with beans, hashbrowns and salsa. The meal comes with free tortilla chips and salsa. Julian’s also serves great Menudo on the weekends, probably some of the best. There are plenty of seats to dine in but if your planning on ordering on the weekends, I suggest call ahead because this place gets so busy the line is to the door. Service is great. Everyone I have encountered is friendly and very nice. I’ve been a fan of Julian’s for several years and will continue coming to this place. The breakfast burritos arent huge but it’s very tasty. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is a hidden gem that apparently a lot of the old Boeing guys all know about. First its located in Hawaiian Gardens right next to the Hustler Casino. If you didn’t know, you can’t go half a block without running into some crazy authentic mexican food. I haven’t tried them all, but I’ve had about 4 or 5 in the area and they are all superb. What sets this place apart is the open kitchen where they make fresh corn tortillas. They are machines so its not the little old lady pressing tortillas that you are used to seeing. Its full on commercial speed. There’s a big trough of beans or hominy there too. Pretty impressive stuff. Food wise, there’s a whole baked goods section that looks really good but I have no idea what to get. I’ve had thier bean and cheese burrito which is great, but not outstanding. Apparently their tamales are what you should be getting. Lots of parking, lots of seating, clean place. Its a great introduction to Hawaiian Gardens mexican food. For more authentic tacos, there’s a place on Norwalk and Carson called Tacos Sauayo. Home made tortilla, great food, not alot of space. I had the cabeza, carnitas, and asada tacos. The carnitas was the standout.
