I would drive right passed this place if I could do it over again… my husband ordered the honey mustard wrap and got the chicken Caesar wrap instead… it ordered the 402 wrap and it was almost completely filled with lettuce… the fries were good. The service was less then stellar.

Where else can you get a dinner and a show but at the 402 Café? Along with your food, you will be entertained by the ineptness of the operation going on all around you. While the food wasn’t that bad, worth two to three stars(how badly can you mess up sandwiches and fries?), the waitressing rates ½ star, maybe even less. When we went there on a warm Sunday afternoon, they were all out of beer, except for Budweiser(is that really beer?); a substitute of iced tea was delivered at room temperature. When I asked for some ice for the tea, the waitress said the tea was freshly made and therefore didn’t get a chance to chill. If she knew it wasn’t cold, why didn’t she supply the ice along with the ‘iced’ tea? Once our food was delivered, we had to ask for utensils. A refill request for a soft drink was left at the fountain by our waitress who promptly forgot about it. And then the show went into the second act. At the table next to us, the guy orders soup and meatloaf. His wife orders something which comes with two sides, she selects a baked potato and string beans. Several minutes later, the waitress tells the guy that there’s no meatloaf. A few minutes later she returns to tell the wife there’s no string beans. When what’s left of their food order does arrive, the wife has to ask the waitress twice for some butter for the baked potato. Act the Third: A patron at the counter is told whatever she ordered is not available.(Keep in mind no one is told their selection is «out» until 5 or 10 minutes after their order is taken! Apparently the kitchen doesn’t communicate with the wait staff on the menu status.) Finale: Another patron asks for a doggie bag and is given a Styrofoam container. She had to ask the waitress for a bag to put the container in. I always thought a bag was standard in any take out. No, I don’t think I’ll give 402 Café another chance. There were just too many incompetencies going on that indicate it wasn’t just a ‘bad day’. It sure seemed to me that it was their standard operation. Next time we’ll just go up the road and try the other diners near Lake Wallenpaupack.

Food was good but services was horrible. When do you go to a restaurant and get your drink before menu. Than once we receive the menu it took the waitress 15 minutes to come back to our table and that only because I said something…

Absolutely positively the worst… I fought food poisoning for 3 days from rotten hamburger meat.

Stopped here on way home from camping weekend. The food smelled heavenly! We were seated and then promptly ignored for 10 minutes. Another table was seated after us. Had same waitress and, not only did they receive their food before we did, they were finished eating before we got our food! Just at the point we were about to walk out, our food was served. And two of our orders were wrong. And then had to wait for utensils. Corrections were quick and the food was quite good. Waitress did not even apologize for delay. Will not stop here again.

When we moved here in 2007 we discovered this place. They USED to be great for breakfast… real ham steak with the bone in, great home fries, attentive waitresses. They served good dinners back then, too. Then something changed — they got new owners. They painted the place, but the food took a downward turn. The next thing you know, our ham steak turned to ham baloney… cold, undercooked homes fires, cold eggs, and they’re no longer open for dinner(maybe a blessing in disguise). The only reason they got a star is because I had to in order for this to be posted. Don’t waste your time eating here… you’re not THAT hungry, are you?

Standard diner style eating, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nothing special but if you’re hungry you might as well eat here.

We gave this place 4 tries and it’s just terrible. Anyone can have an off day, but not three times. First time everything was great, so we went back again. Next time we had to wait 45 minutes before we finally gave up on our food EVER coming out of that kitchen.(It was just breakfast. How long can it possibly take to make some eggs at 10 am on a Sunday in a relatively small restaurant?) We still gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave it another shot… Awful! Eggs served on top of(what was supposed to be well done) scrapple. Home fries supposed to be well done and came to the table white. The waitress said, «I don’t know why he put the eggs on top; they don’t usually do that.» And then the usual restaurant reply, «We have a new cook.» Okay, that’s two out of three times, but we still went back(masochists or just kind – I’m not sure) for a fourth and final time. The place was pretty empty except for several people at the counter, and it turns out at least two of these people were employees hanging out with customers. We placed our usual order – 2 eggs over very easy, emphasizing very easy, scrapple crispy, home fries well done, repeating again«well done.» We got eggs on top of soggy scrapple, home fries white, eggs overcooked. All this coupled with the bugs on the windowsill, the annoying fly that wouldn’t leave us alone, the waitress bringing us food KNOWING that the home fries were undercooked, but bringing it anyway(!!!)…well, we’re done with this place. The waitress commented that she can never get this guy to cook anything well done, but then the owner came over and said it’s a new cook, so someone is lying here.
