I’ve been here twice and I was not super happy either time. It’s set up like a cafeteria and no one really explains anything to you. Very limited menu until you advance to see… oh they have more and I already ordered. Seating is nice and plenty of parking but as far as an oasis of decent italian in the midst of nowhere – It is most certainly not. It’s okay for a change and some of my coworkers like this place, but not really for me… its still not as horrible as Moretti’s.LOL…hahaha Moretti’s.

Authentic Italian fare, we went there for lunch, but was asked what menu we were there for, of course lunch, but their dinner menu assured us a waiter! So, dinner, of course. Did I mention you order like in a cafeteria. It was so authentic, it brought me back to my NYC days.

It looks like the negative reviews are older. If you haven’t been to Oregano’s recently, please give them another try. We went there for the first time today and absolutely loved it. Their sweet potato chips, minestrone, pasta and sandwiches were all fresh and delicious. Service was wonderful too. I feel lucky to have such a great restaurant close to home.

After a years i finally tried the pizza. Would have rather ate the box. Crust was not even close to being done. The manhattan clam chowder was great.

Oregano’s is a little gem in Hawthorn Woods. This place has especially fantastic pasta and chicken dishes. The patio is beautiful in the summer while the fireplace is gorgeous in the winter. I highly recommend this establishment on all accounts!

We used Organs for a wedding rehersal dinner. The private room was very nice and the staff was friendly and professional. We have been there before and always found the food outstanding. This time we had the pizza and it was«just okay».

HORRIBLE service. Chips are always stale. The new owners are beyond rude. Never smile and have a really bad reputation.

Awful. Tasteless except for salt. Menu makes you think you’ll have something creative, inventive and flavorful Don’t be fooled This place is worse than most fast food drive through joints. They had an opportunity to be great but blew it Tried 4 times over 4 months(yes we will keep going in hope of it being an off night) This place is just OFF BEGINNINGTOEND. not worth your time

Since the new owner this place is awful. The pannini’s are served on dry toast. Nothing was fresh. Like other reviewers have said, the new owner is soooo rude. I tryed 3 times to give them a chance. Each visit was worse than the last. I don’t know how this place stays in business.

We attempted to go to this place a first time and called ahead as it was 8:20pm and just wanted to make sure they were still serving(places close early around here) well, the man who answered the phone pretended he could not hear us, we called from a land line and he answered the phone and again«could not hear». Tonight, we were looking for a place to dine, anywhere regardless of mediocrity, just wanted something close. Something told me to call them before we went to make sure they were functioning. So, it was 8:50 pm and they close at 10, called to make sure they were open and a very rude man said, «we are closing out kitchen in 20 minutes»(please remember it’s Saturday night and they are open till 10) I said, «we can be there in 10 minutes» and kinda threw it out to the man on the phone and he replied with, «sorry, no». Super bad attitude, not looking to do business. Either business is really good for these folks and they can afford to turn folks away OR they are dead and have no business and just want to leave the place and close. Regardless of the reasons, this place is not going to make it with such a nasty attitude. Plus closing early and rude on the phone too. Affluent area where folks will be loyal, even cater and have events if you are decent. We ended up going to a place called SLYCE in Wauconda and ordered a flight of wine, salad, soup and pizza :). Happy to pay 60 bucks which this place clearly didn’t want. This place is not going to last much longer with such a bad attitude and«no can do» service.

We dined at Oreganos on a Sunday after a High School graduation, and had never been there before but had heard through friends that it was a nice place. We didn’t know for sure about the a la carte counter type atmosphere mentioned on the website, but we made reservations beforehand for the day, and were assured that we could get sit down table service. There were about 4 different dining groups in their main dining area, and our party felt it was a great atmosphere. We ALL agreed that the food was great, and the portions were generous for the price. The service was fantastic. On this day, with this service and food, this was the perfect thing that we were looking for to cap the day off. Thank you Oregano’s.

This place is a hidden gem and has really good food! We’ve been here for lunch a couple times and they have great lunch combos with homemade soups, pizza, sandwiches and salads. For lunch it’s a café style but for dinner it’s a sit down restaurant. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly and helped point out some of her favorites. I has the Shrimp a la oreganos and it was delicious! It wasn’t a heavy garlic and olive oil sauce like most places, it was the perfect combination and tasted amazing with fresh shrimp! The portions are really big too so I had lunch for the next day. Definitely will be going back for dinner again soon!

Eh. I’m not dead and nothing memorable. Nice people, clean but flavorless food. Put some ranch dressing on your plate. Your chicken panini will thank you.

Awful. Awful. Awful. Not one item we ordered was remotely edible. we ordered the bruchetta(which was a disc of a tomato on toast not even Italian bread) UGH… some kind of vegetable soup that had a layer of grease on it(gross) I had chicken vesuvio… which was super dry. I REALLY wanted to like it here. its close to my parents house and we get bored going to the same few places over and over. we were very disappointed. not only was this extremely expensive it wasn’t good. needless to say, we wont be returning.

I really want to like Oregano’s, but every time I go, I find myself disappointed. I find all of their dishes to be fairly bland… not something you want or expect from a place that names itself after a spice! I don’t really understand how an Italian place can consistently serve boring pasta and meats, but they manage it. They really do exemplify the two-star rating — «meh.» The food is edible and the restaurant is clean but the dishes and service are sadly underwhelming.

My grandma wanted to go to lunch and she wanted to go somewhere with soup and sandwiches so she suggested we go to Oregano’s. The restaurant was really dark and dreary. It was also cold and they had the fans on. It is the type of restaurant where you go up and order your food and they bring it to the table. I was a bit confused by the ordering because there was a guy standing by the soup who didn’t seem very interested in my order and I wasn’t sure if he was the right guy, but I guess he was. My chicken pesto wrap was just so so. It was dry and bland, They put the pesto mayo on the side. It was cool that they made their own chips, but the garlic chips just tasted like regular potato chips. The tomato and rice soup was yummy.

I also was very happy to find this place. Been eating here for a few years now. They must have recently changed owners tho. Now the food is kinda sucky. And for some reason it took over a half hour to get my chicken wrap? during lunch. I only have an hour lunch break. please go back to the old ways. was good quality. now sub par

Okay, don’t call me a pig! But I ordered lots of dishes to try them out since this visit(08⁄23) would be my only visit! I’m moving. Thankfully, I did not eat everything… I brought some home for my husband. So… Enough ranting and onto the food, yes? Scoop on the FOOD! Pasta Caesar Salad: 3.5 of 5. So, maybe I’m just being a tough critic! Shoot me. It was not bad. I liked the concept: pasta, caesar dressing, Parmesan, bits of shredded lettuce, … the caesar dressing was light(not light as in low calories since i’m not sure about that!), but it wasn’t too much. just enough. Cream of Wild Rice Chicken Soup — 3.5 of 5. The soup was nice and thick, the rice had been cooked for awhile, and the chicken was fine(thought scarce to find). It was not too salty. The soup was actually pretty decent. =) Chicken Pesto Sandwich — 2 out of 5. This sandwich was fine, but the reason for low stars is because there was barely any chicken in the sandwich… The pesto was very light. So, after having several bites, it was like eating bread … and I was just searching for some more chicken! Homemade Garlic Potato Chips — 4 out of 5. The homemade garlic chips were great. They were very fresh and crispy. The«garlic» was so light, so I could barely tell it was garlic … there was minimal salt, so very very light and it seemed so healthy(for potato chips)! Scoop on the AMBIANCE: The place is very quaint. I likes!!! They have an outdoor patio which seems like a nice place to sit and eat. *** IFYOUHAVENEVERBEENHERE, it’s like a psuedo-cafeteria. You will place your order upon arrival, and then get a number from them. Eventually, they will deliver your sandwiches to your table. **They get packed at 11:45. I would get there around 11:30 if you want to avoid a long wait!
