The food was horrible. We had a coupon so we decided to try it. Last time it wasn’t good. Apparently we forgot. For 2 breakfasts and 1 beverage after the coupon the total was $ 17.79 it was for AYCE. but, there wasn’t 1 thing I wanted to eat a lot of or even try more than once. It was a waste of money.(Even the fruit wasn’t ripe.) We did buy a beverage how ever apparently we used the wrong color cup. So the manager came over and inspected our receipt after interupting our attempting to eat the sub-par food. She wasn’t satisfied with what she saw so she sent the hostess over with yet another cup of the same color. As if that was going to rectify the situation. We felt like we were being accused of stealing. The only theif in this situation was Hometown Buffet for taking money for horrible food. The restaurant wasn’t even clean. There was no water in the water dispenser either. Won’t go back here!

This Hometown Buffet is pretty good The fried chicken is probably the best thing to get here they always seem to make it just right crispy not too dry. I’ve eaten here recently and I used to eat here regularly. The staff really does put their all into providing excellent customer service in the best way that they can. I may be a little bias seeing as I used to work for them a while back but coming back after the fact everything is still as I remember it.

Horrible maintenance in the food area, I wanted to go refill my cup with juice and get some coffee they had none. There was food on the floors and spilled milk. They need better employees to keep up with the food area and cleanness.

Waitress was very friendly. As soon as I walked in, I knew that I made a mistake. It underwhelmed my low expectation. I walked around the buffet line several times but I couldn’t find anything that was appetizing.

Especially if you are in the area, are hungry, and want food choices/options…you are bound to find something that’s at least OK… don’t expect gourmet or always super-fresh items… but overall better than going to a fast-food routine stop… and you can have as little or as much as you want…

The food here was good but felt disgusted when I found a dead cockroach in the sausage tray!

Let’s start with initial appearance– grungy and dark– inside and outside. Inside lighting is very dim and some were flickering. The dining chairs were stinky, and the salt pepper shakers were empty. The food was very bland, and hardly warm(and there was very few options). The two hours I was there, the large utensil area was completely empty; many plates and bowls were not only old with obvious signs of wear, but they had leftover soapy water and food particles; and the cups smelled strongly of dishwashing chemicals. The ice cream machine was down, the yogurt dispenser was a disaster, and there were no bowls nor cones the entire time. My goddaughter went to grab a baked potato(which she later described as old and hard) and asked why there was brown sugar and powdered sugar next to the baked potatoes at the carving station, beats me! So she went to add sour cream to her potato, except it turns out it wasn’t sour cream. The attendant at the carving station acted shocked and asked«did you just add that to your potato?» Turns out it was whipped cream. My brother asked why they had that there and suggested he move it elsewhere, the attendant said«yeah, that’s what I was about to do.» Ten, thirty, and sixty minutes later, the whipped cream, powdered and brown sugars were all still there. Our table attendant hardly stopped by to pick up our plates. I won’t even start talking about this restrooms.

This HomeTown Buffet is nearest and the only HomeTown Buffet we go to. We only go when we received a «Buy One Get One Free» coupon. Don’t expect a Las Vegas Style Buffet but a simple value for money a quick family dinner. After Drink is Separated, we felt they are trying to provided less services for a little more money. Understanding they are in the business to make money. A Soft drink cost them pennies comparing what we spend at the supermarket. The new Drink Charge created more negative feedback then the extra money they got. Managers and staffs come and go. Service standard and food quality show continue. Being former food service provider myself, I understand the manager pain and suffering but it is not excuse for poor communication and execution. Overall, I gave this HoweTown Buffet a Three Stars because you get what you pay for. For the amount of money we spend, we can not ask too much from it.

I’ve only given it a 2 star because the food is so-so. Being that California’s fast food service’s wage is going up, I think Hometown needs to train their service clerks more. No one was at the front counter when my family and I got there. Of course, we(family of 3 adults and 3 kids, btw) could have walked in, get our foods, eat hardy, and leave. No one would have known. But I wasn’t brought up to cheat people for the hell of it. So after about 5 minutes and while my family ate, I finally noticed a waitress and one of her male coworkers approach the front desk. They found it more important to discuss her Facebook page, which the coworker wanted and never got from her, than to tend to the business. Well, service was paid for and I went back to my family’s table. Once I sat down, my wife told me that most of the food on display looked like they’ve been there for a couple of hours and dried up. There were hardly any desert displayed, which anyone with kids knows is a big disappointment. Lucky me, I had a salad and a drink and called it a day. I think I’ll be looking around for other buffets to check out for my family since I’ve actually had quite a few bad experiences here and at other Hometown Buffets.

Disgusting. Everything about this place is just awful. The macaroni and cheese taste like Stouffers, the steamed vegetables, spaghetti, and rice was over cooked. Must have been sitting out for a while. The dessert was just sad. I got a hot fudge brownie and the hot fudge was like pudding stuck on the brownie and I decided to grab a fresh one thinking that will be better and that one was undercooked. We complained to the manager and all she had to say was sorry and said hopefully next time will be better. HA! Bitch you crazy I’m never coming back! This is nothing but grease and frozen foods. Others beware!!!

No need to get specific, there being plenty of ratings and reviews, however I feel compelled to give my penny’s worth. The good, some fresh selections, mostly raw stuff such as lettuce, conventional salad toppings, e.g. mushrooms, radishes, carrots, croûtons and olives. Very good selection of desserts and great prices! The bad, only two soups were offered, standard broth based chicken noodle and cheesy broccoli(not cream of broccoli). Vegetarian dishes are few and sophisticated adult dishes are absent. Low quality meat, low quality vegetables(much of which is canned). Quality is nowhere to be found, it’s like putting watered down regular unleaded gas into a high performance roadster, i.e. it will fill up your tank, but leave you feeling sluggish. Other than the raw ingredients, the selection of food looks as if created by a committee of kids, e.g. tacos, pizza, macaroni and cheese and fried chicken. Very few signs are used to indicate what a particular food item is and absolutely no quick view list of(key) ingredients is displayed at buffet islands. If you are going to eat at a buffet, it should be about having a variety of hopefully wholesome foods to choose from for a fixed price; not stuffing your face with as much garbage as you can stuff into your gut. Hometown Buffet offers a lot of noodles, potatoes, beans, bread… empty calories. There are few good buffets around, but go to Hometown Buffet only if you have kids who are jumping off the walls with hunger and you have no time or energy to cook, you are eating alone and do not care about quality(only about filling your belly) or you just can’t get yourself together to cook a proper meal. Come on folks, here you really get what you pay for, which is not much. The two star rating refers mostly to the lack of food quality and selection. A one star rating would be inappropriate because I reserve one star ratings for businesses that should(always) be avoided at all cost; however it may be okay to patronize Hometown Buffet once in a blue moon.

Horrible. We would eat here maybe 1 – 2 times a month in the past. Stopped coming for about a year because we had two bad experiences. We came two weeks ago & it was ok but tonight was beyond bad. Ice cream machine out of order, hot fudge machine out of order, both ice machines had no ice. Had to wait for glasses because they were out, floors were wet & sticky in multiple places with no caution sign, there were only a few choco cakes, two carrot cakes &4 cheesecakes. No Cinnabon, no cobbler or warm dessert items, no forks, no ice cream/yogurt bowls. Food: Salad station– No spinach, no cranberries or walnuts in the mixed salad that is supposed to have it, the salad ladles were not labeled as to what kind of dressings they are, no staw/bananas, no fresh fruit at all. Hot food: No collard greens, no pizza, no fish sticks. It was 40 minutes before closing but come on! When we arrived 1⁄3 of the tables were dirty. We asked the only young lady cleaning tables to clean a table for us. She never once took our dirty plates from our table. She was overwhelmed BUT she did stop & chit chatted with fellow employees often & didn’t hustle to even try to get on top of it. The three dirty tables surrounding us were still dirty when we left. I did see the store manager(older African American man) but he did nothing to fix any of the blatant problems. Maybe they were short handed, maybe he was overwhelmed. We will not return

This restaurant has many 1 star rating and it only average 2 stars over all. I will have to add another 1 star review for the following reason. I went here to get a bite. I took a plate of foods and went to my table to eat. The food was luke warm and the temperature is around 95 F degree to 100 F degree. I ate half the plate and left the rest for waitress to pick it up and throw it away. Per the FDA, the food served in these Buffets should have a minimum temperature of 140 F degree. The food here is way below safe temperature so I stop eating any of the food here and just eat the cold Salad at the Salad bar. Because of the unsafe temperature, I gave this place a 1 star. If I was the Health Department, I would have shut this place down. But this place still open thus it seems the health department is not doing it’s job. But that does not really surprise me as the 8-year-old Gabriel Fernadez in Palmdale was killed by the mom’s boyfriend and the social worker at the Los Angeles County Social Service did not do anything about that either. But this is not an isolated incident as I have been at Indian Buffets, Chinese Buffets and many other food establishment that does not reach the 140 F degree serving temperature mandated in the FDA website above. This 1 star review is based on safety standard set by the FDA at the website link above. If you want to verify the temperature of the food for yourself, you can buy a pen infrared thermometer at the link below. Then you can do your own temperature measurement of the food you are eating to see if it is safe or if you are getting food poisoning. Note: 1.I have read other reviews that said that there are people out there that got food poisoning from eating at Hometown Buffet because the food was cold, not reaching 140 F degree mandate by the FDA. If they have a good lawyer, they can sue Hometown Buffet, as this is a clear case of Tort since Hometown Buffet clearly violated food safety standard set by the FDA. I only at ½ plate and was not affect that much so far. 2. If you are serious about the Tort issue, next time bring a infrared thermometer to get the temperature of the food and take a picture of the temperature. If it is less than 140 F degree, then you have a clear case of Tort.

This place is always out of food. They do not know how to schedule people for rush time. Whoever refill the condiments needs to be fired or add another person because they can’t count lol. Make sure to bring your own cup nine fork and straw. I will give them a plus the food is good

This place should be closed down! It stinks and the salad has bugs! The carpet is extremely dirty and a lot of food thrown on the floor around the buffet area which makes it hazardous! People nearly pushed me to make sure they got a piece of chicken! I came for the salad bar, the selection is so poor! Frozen peas, mixed greens and spinach are as fresh as it gets! Everything else comes out of a can! Save your money! Don’t bother coming to this filthy place. And they always seem to run out of chicken!

Went here for lunch today, and I left really sad. There wasn’t much of a selection, but 90% of the food was a failure pile in a sadness trough. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a Hometown Buffet and to be fair, I don’t expect much. I usually know what I’m getting myself into. But after leaving, I’ve come to realize the majority of America’s problems can be demonstrated within the few thousand square feet of this facility. Obviously, not many buffets are known for the quality of their food. That’s a given. But I’m honest when I say that the dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets and Foster Farms Corn Dogs hold far superior to what was being served here. I’m by no means a health nut, but I feel like there should be a vitamin somewhere here. I feel two stars are generous as I’m not trying to be cunty. The employees seemed nice, plenty of parking, didn’t seem to be particularly dirty inside and the salad/veggies weren’t wilted.
