My friend recommended me to this restaurant and from the reviews on Unilocal,my expectations were really really high. We got there and the place was so clean and staff super super friendly and attentive. Wonton Soup was a straight 10⁄10! I recommend this place to everyone, I really enjoyed my evening and really deserves the 5 stars.

I’m from the South Bay Area and now I may have to drive to Hayward because the food at this restaurant is so good. Come here for great food, great service, and great prices. Thanks for the nice lunch.

Came here for dinner once and a wedding reception. Both experiences were great. Food was served family style– plate to table, serve yourself. Food is always fresh and consistently flavorful. Nothing weird going on here. I’ve had appetizers– always hot and tasty, not too greasy. The entrees are always hot, fresh, and not overly sweet or salty. I remember the mongolian beef the best. Great beef, wonderful sauce, fresh onions. The rice and chow mein are great, as are the other entrees I’ve had here.

Americanized-Chinese restaurant but their dishes are so yum! Happy Family really does make a happy family, Orange Peel Beef(well-done) is delicious, Beef Steak HK Style is deleesh, Shrimp Egg Foo Young is wonderful(if fresh) — probably best I’ve ever had, and Basil Chicken and Shrimp is sooo tasty! Your stomach won’t be disappointed!

Great food when its on point. But not always consistent. Anything spicy is of the better choices for authentic flavor.

This is one of the better Chinese Food restaurants in Hayward, the ambiance is nice and you can feel it when you first walk in the door. Whenever I do come here there are always many customers deep in conversation enjoying their meals. The staff here is very professional and friendly. There is a large bar here it almost makes you feel like your in a night club. They also do catering and banquets! The menu is very extensive I love the Beef Chow Fun with rice noodles and the Garlic Spinach is very tasty, as is the Egg Foo Young. As of yet I have not tried the appetizer menu but it’s on my to do list. I could imagine after a long day at work coming here for some small side dishes and a few drinks, very relaxing. Did I mention there is plenty of seating unlike some places. You tend to forget your in Hayward inside this place… lol

First of all, the waiters talked so softly and mumbled everything. I had to ask them to repeat themselves a few times. And the service was sloooow. Went for lunch and there was only 2 other couples seated and it took almost 10 minutes for our drink order. The orange chicken was okay, nothing to really brag about.

Our family of 12 persons were here for Mother’s Day, as we were a year ago with more family members, when the service was very slow. This year was a disaster! We were there over 2 ½ hours and still hungry! We tried to simplify the waiter’s job, and presented him a list of 9 dishes, and specifically said, we wanted the dishes to be enough for 12 persons. After 45 minutes, the first dish came out with 3 pork steamed buns. No more were ever delivered, even though we kept reminding him that we needed three more orders of that dish. The same happened with the next six dishes, all enough for maybe four persons. One of the dishes did not even show up. After another 40 minutes or so, four of the dishes were served, and two never made it. We simply did not want to wait around more. Upon leaving, I spoke to the«operating manager» who also was the bar tender. He really offered no apologies, and even said the dishes should have served 12: NOWAY! I said that they were way understaffed, with only our waiter for the entire back room. We will NOT return again!

Unbelievably slow service. We had dinner tonight for mothers day with a group of 12. Reservations were made earlier in the week for 5:30. We get there and there is a bunch of people waiting to be seated. Our table was in the back room, where there were at least 4 empty tables which never had people sitting in them the whole time we were there. We ordered double portions of the dishes and after 45 min we got one portion of each. Everyone was polite and only put enough food on their plate so that all 12 people got a bit of each. The food was good, but it took them another 45 min to serve us the second portion of each dish. The poor waiter in our room had 4 large groups to serve by himself. Pitchers of Sam Addams were 20 bucks! Get real! I’m never going there again due to the horrible service.

Food is «OK» and not too pricey. The décor inside is outdated and the service good but could be better but based off the food I give them 3 stars.

I give Chefs 0 stars. Not for the food but for the poor customer service I have ever experienced from the owner Eddie. My girlfriends and I have been regular customers for over 5 years. We are there at least once a week sometimes more. The bartender Robert is awesome which is why we kept coming back. I went there on a Thu night for dinner and drinks as usually with one of my girlfriends. I paid my $ 88.53 bill with my ATM card. When we left the waitress followed us outside and told me that she had accidentally charged my card $ 900.00 by accident but she credited it back. I told her thanks for letting me know as long as it had been corrected. The next day I checked my account and the $ 900 was deducted but nothing was returned. I called Chefs and talked to the Eddie and he said that they had voided it but it would take 2 to 3 days to show on my account. I told him I was not ok with that and needed my money now. He said it was nothing he could do, it was my bank who was holding the money. I was upset but I waited the 3 days out. On Monday, the money was still not in my account. I called my bank and they said it was still pending action from the merchant. I went to Chefs and Eddie called his credit card people to check on it. I was standing waiting for him for about 1 hour and he never even offer me a seat let alone a glass of water. When he came back he told me that it would actually be 5 to 7 days before it comes back to my account and there was nothing else he could do. My checking account was short by $ 900 for over 5 days due to a mistake by his establishment. Never once did he ever offer me(a regular customer) any type of compensation for my inconvenience. I feel he could have at least offered me a free meal or gift certificate as a small token for their negligence.

Hidden gem in hayward. I celebrated my 21st birthday here and had my first martini. A lychee martini which was incredibly delicious. Finally revisited this place after so many year and the food is just as good.

Went here for take out on a rainy Sunday night to have with my lady. Ambiance and décor of the place is nice and it has a fairly decent sized bar. Place was busy and packed. Sweet and sour soup is good, but tasted like it was missing something. Fried Rice was good and solid. Mongolian beef was a little to saucey and not enough spices like some of the other places out there make it. Walnut shrimp were decent sized and plenty but were overly sauced and caused the batter of the shrimp to get kinda soggy My issue is the price, it was way to much for the order above, was over $ 40 for take out for 2 people? I don’t think I would return to this place as it didn’t do anything to blow me away, especially for the price.

This just must not be our week. We arrived and we’re seated very quickly. It started out good. Friendly waitress. We ordered Wor wonton soup with ONLY chicken and beef, veggie fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, broccoli beef, pot stickers, fried prawns, and dry fried ribs. The appetizers came out in a pretty timely manner, but then it went all downhill from there. Our soup came out next, however, it took forever to come. We wanted the veggie fried rice to mix in with the soup. Our soup had scallops in it, which was not what we wanted. This was after we had scooped and ate some. So we had to send it back. Come to find out, they just scooped out the scallops and sent the SAME soup right back to us, so basically there was damn near no beef and a couple of wontons. Our rice FINALLY came later. We were advised that the kitchen was backed up. We ended up having to cancel our orders of broccoli beef and sweet and sour chicken. When we were told what they did about the soup, we asked to speak to a manager. They told us that they didn’t know if there was a manager there. Our waitress FINALLY came back to our table, knowing we had an issue, and told us that it is going to be a while before a manager can come and speak to us. We just said forget it. We wanted our bill and we wanted to hurry up and get out if there. By then we had been there for an hour and a half. HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE!!!

Ok, to be fair… I cannot write about the food or drinks here right now. I will say this. It was my birthday and we walked in without a reservation and were told it would be «just a few minutes» before we would be seated. We were in no rush, so no worries. We sat down and perused the restaurant and the bar. There were empty cardboard boxes sitting in stools by the bar, making it hard for would be patrons to maybe have a seat at the bar. Everyone seemed busy, but I wasn’t seeing any food going to any tables while we sat there. I saw people coming in though and walking past the hostess station and going and sitting at the open tables and being waited on… What? Ok, maybe they were meeting someone or already had a seat earlier, or knew the owner? We sat and waited for 24 minutes. Still nothing. No one even came by to say, «So sorry for the wait, you are next» or whatnot. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. Im not giving this a lower rating because in all fairness I did not get to taste the food or drinks. And I think given a different day,(it was MLK day) maybe they would have their stuff together to take care of us. So, Im willing to give it another try. I am told the food is actually very good there. So, have to see.

The stuff egg plant was sweet, crunchy and spicy. It was so delicious and I’m coming back for it soon. I couldn’t decide wether to get chow fun or chow mien so my nephew and I agreed on chow fun with beans sprouts. The difference between both noodles are minor. Chow Fun has egg noodles and onions and the Chow Mien has rice noodle which are small like angel hair pasta. I love them! We also ordered family fun, a combo-meat-dish with veggies. The vegetables were tender and not over saturated in sauce. Overall the stuffed egg plant had the best sauce. Check them out!

This the THEBEST place in Hayward for Chinese food thus far. The food and service are quality and consistent. Our family has been eating here for years and they never fail our expectations. We often times eat here for family gatherings. The waitress was as if she is an old family friend, very accommodating, attentive, and considerate. We ordered the beef fried rice, chicken chow mein, sizzling steak, sweet and sour pork, honey walnut prawns. Also some egg rolls for appetizer. What I like about this place is that the Chinese food is cooked well and balanced. Not greasy, soggy, nor too sweet or salty, nor overly creamy that you might get at other Chinese restaurants. Food is always fresh and hot. This place is a Hayward staple that never fails. Consistent, quality, and feels like home.
