Just to be clear, this is El Indio II, the taco truck. They also have a brick and mortar location on the other side of the freeway but this review is for the Taco Truck. The dollar tacos are awesome! You can’t beat them! My favorite is Wednesday – Carnitas. The pickled veg is great on the side. The location is kind of seedy so I tend to take my food home to eat but if you can’t wait to eat these juicy and delicious morsels, then go ahead and eat it at the outdoor tables that they have. There is an onning so even if it is raining, you’re covered.

I have not tried their burritos or tortas but dollar tacos are awesome. I suggest sticking with dollar taco since the meats are special for the day and it’s fresh. Try the head meat. It’s incredibly tasty with just the right amount of face fats.

The food here used to be so bomb when I was growing up. I stopped going here for a while, maybe 6 years? but started coming back fairly recently. I live down the block from this place so it’s a good place to go for a quick taco fix. They have a fairly simple menu and every day there is a different special for $ 1 tacos Monday– higado Tuesday– chicken Wednesday– carnitas Thursday– cabeza Friday– buche Saturday– pastor Sunday– chili verde I’ve had their: chicken tacos. The meat itself is fairly bland, not really grilled. Just soft chicken. but the salsa saves it. The carnitas tacos are pretty good. Well seasoned, a little on the fattier side. Carnitas burrito: very good. A super is $ 7 and it’s pretty filling. Since it’s so close, I’ll probably eventually try more items.

Worst food I’ve ever tried!!! Honestly I ate here years ago and food was decent but omg was I disappointed their meat tastes old and it’s super chewy they have the super cheap plates and only give you one so by the time you reach the table the plate is soggy and your food about to fall off from it. And they charge $ 2 per taco ridiculous too much for such poor quality I would not recommend this place at all!!!

Very disappointed. Only taco truck I know in Hayward — unlike Oakland that has dozens to choose from. Ate here years ago(6?) and it was great. Don’t know if it’s a new owner but it was very disappointing. Food was very average(think of a can of soup — not bad not good– just food) Friend stated, «how do you mess up a vegi taco?» And didn’t finish it. Might try again to see if it was a bad day, but I doubt I’ll ever go back.

The old Indio was awesome. The new generation Indio is poo. Raw rice in my burrito? = crunchy rice burrito was disappointing. Rude ass workers. And doesn’t seem as sanitary

Love their tacos, their salsa and their carrots! The placement of the truck looks sketchy but the food begs to differ. They have a different taco(meat) for a dollar everyday. Personally I love Fridays buche. They’re pretty friendly dudes too. There was an older guy here at some point(maybe the owner?) that was a douche! Charged me for beans on my tacos! But I haven’t come across him for a while. Btw we drive all the way from Oakland to get these tacos so you know it’s real! :) it’s safer than oakland lol

I was really concerned and disappointed when the truck disappeared around mid-summer. I guess they were taking some time off, or something. The truck is back and the fish tacos are as good as ever.

I had recently moved to the area and was looking for a great taco truck, and I ran into this one. It is awesome and has great quality! Unfortunately, they’re pretty pricey, but the burritos are totally worth it! But now, I don’t see them at this location? Where are they now? I am totally craving them and don’t know where to find them or how to contact them because there’s no number attached to their info.

I’m from Oakland and consider myself a connoisseur of Taco Trucks. Most really good ones specialize in at least one treat that makes it stick out.(ie seafood, super burritos, etc) Something only they do right. This place does steak tacos right. Their a bit pricy at $ 2.00/ea but worth it. Three fill you up. They’re made from solid steak meat too so you know you’re getting the real thing. They also have a covered area to eat with a nice view of the A Street scene. They offer daily $ 1.00/ea taco specials with rotating kinds of meat depending on the day. Wednesday is Carnitas day but the meat tends to be a bit on the dry side for me. Stick with the steak tacos and you’ll come back for more. Chow!

Bottles of coke, mexican soda, and salas in the front of the truck. Good fast service outdoor eatting right next to A street nice for summer but not for cold weather.

I did not like the food period. ordered a carne asada burrito and it had way too many pieces of fat in it. the flavor was horrible

As others have noted, this taco truck is more expensive than others. However, they have specials every day for $ 1 tacos. They also have a wide variety of meat and it’s nice to sit around and eat your food outside in the shade watching all the cars drive by on A Street.

I miss the other vendor. THeir quesadilla was much better because the how they cook their meat and the ingredients they poured into it. With El Indio, the meat tends to be dry and salty and the crust of their tortilla is soggy not crispy like the other vendor before them. THe prices are reasonable and sometimes the service is fast. The quality of the food compared to the old vendor lacks. But if there is nothing in the fridge and I want something to eat that I don;t have to drive far for then I go to the Taco truck down the street.

el indio has taken taken over this spot from another vendor. is it any surprise that the prices would be higher? tacos(1.50) burritos(5) supers(6) they have a especial in spanish of a daily taco(1). pork livers, pork somach, cabeza, chile verde, etc. are the flavors. the wednesday one was cabeza(beef head). the cabeza taco was kind of mushy. hope my brain isn’t affected likewise. it was also bland. free salsa is available outside the taco truck. service fast.
