Whiskey River Saloon

My friend works here, Sharon. She’s a great bartender so definetely let her know that I told you about it. I met her from other bartender friends… yes at one point in my life I went to Bartending School!

I always thought this was a biker bar every time I drove by. When my friend Dave started bartending here I decided to check it out. It’s actually pretty cool. There is a pool table, a bunch of TVs and a jukebox that plays all kinds of music. I guess they serve appetizers here, but wouldn’t know because I pretty much just drink when it comes to bars.

There was a new chill in the air as we walked towards the front door. If we planned to stay longer, our sweatshirts would have been a necessity. As we entered, a patron, no doubt a regular, was being playfully pushed out the door by the petite bartender. Maybe not the safest route to deal with customers who have had one too many, but effective enough I suppose.
We debated our way through another pitcher, switching back and forth between why Pokemon was on the big screen to the nostalgic small bottles of Bud shelved above the bar. The pool table didn’t seem all that inviting, especially with an ash covered old barbecue blocking some angles for corner shots.
We didn’t find anything unique here, and maybe we weren’t expecting to, but our table was clean, the beer was refreshing and we seemed to blend into the background most of the two pitchers we shared there. That might have made this best place we found that day for that simple reason, it delivered what it promised. Local, comforting, and simple.

Dive bar to the fullest, its a cheers type atmosphere. The bartenders are extremely nice and they make really good drinks. They play some pretty good music, and all the patrons seemed to be pretty cool. The only thing I don’t like is the location, its hidden, so if you don’t know its there you will drive right by it. Overall if you want to chill, be entertained by drunk people, and have a nice good drink doing it this is the place to go.

Pretty average bar. Reasonably priced drinks, acceptable service — not much else. Cheers.
