This place is about the worst motel I’ve stayed in for over 20yrs of traveling. To make matters worse, my non smoking room was very much a smokers haven, I am sure. I’m warning all you readers to pass this place on by.

Holy hell, some things must’ve changed(ownership, management, cleaning staff) since the last reviewer’s visit. We stopped down in Hazleton(excuse me, WEST Hazleton) en route from Montréal to Virginia. It was a logical, small-town stopping point. Our directives were the following: +/-$ 50, not far from the highway, and not a big chain(quality inn, hampton inn, etc.) Everything was in order… bearing in mind that due to television and movies, I can’t help shake the feeling that there will be a corpse in the shower and/or under the bed of ANY hotel/motel I walk into Forest Hill Inn met all of these conditions and was perfectly satisfactory. I don’t really stay at many hotels, so my perception of what may or may not constitute a suitable room to rent for the night, but this one hit the spot. I simply walked in, asked to rent a room, filled out a little card with my name and contact info, and that was that. The night manager(perhaps also the day manager) polite and gave us a recommendation for somewhere to eat in town. The room was basically a clean, normal, motel room. It was certainly punctuated by some cool decorations: an awesome flea market find-esque wardrobe with elephants on it, vintage pictures of… somewhere…1920s Atlantic City maybe? The bed was comically large. The tv/direct TV box were set a bit haphazardly(somebody tried to steal something?) which was hilarious, but also perfectly functional. Otherwise, there are a couple of tiny rips in the wallpaper near the door but that doesn’t matter given that we’re here for less than 18 hours. Anyway, if I’m ever in West Hazleton ever again and need a room to stay, I would definitely come back. That other review is so markedly different from my experience, that it’s almost plausible that the other big-chain motels around town wrote it for them!

This place is a total dump, I mean call in the Board of Health, which I plan to do. I paid $ 66.60 for a room that was dirty, was proposed to be non-smoking and had a dirty ashtray by bed. There was a dirty tub and mat in shower, faucet of which dripped, two thin hand towels, soaps from some 1950’s lot sale, no bath towels or mat, chunks of dirt on the rug, broken towel rack, wall mirror leaning against wall in bedroom and not replaced. I could go on but why bother. The sheets were clean and there were no obvious bugs, so since I arrived late I stayed, but jeez, this place was disgusting.
