I love Zin and love how welcoming Mazzocco Vineyards has always been. I have attended events and regularly purchase their wonderful wine as a sister winery’s club member.(If you belong to one of Wilson’s clubs, you in effect belong to them all.) The day I became a member here in addition to Pezzi King, I came to do a report for Annie Vercelli’s wine class at SRJC. I talked with Mick, a longtime Sonoma county resident and Wilson employee for the past few years. He spent a lot of time with me – maybe because I was a Wilson Family member or maybe because I was doing a paper – but more likely he represents Mazzocco well with all guests. Mazzocco’s tasting room is large plus they have beautiful outdoor spaces including patios and areas in the garden with tables. They have beautiful marketing material everywhere including specials and how to become a member. They have comfortable couches, a special room to taste their high end wines, small areas to take the overflow groups on busy days and exceptional personal service.(Their bathroom is lovely as well, with a barrel made cupboard that I would love to have in my bathroom.) And of course, they have the best Zinfandels. They specialize in single vineyard designates. They are one of only four wineries that get Maple Vineyard’s grapes…(a longtime favorite vineyard). This year, the Zin from Pony Vineyard, right next door, is showing beautifully! There is no way that you can try all that Mazzocco has to taste at one time but even if you only taste a few, you will find something perfect for you. They also have fantastic club events so if you enjoy their wine, you have to join their club!

My favorite winery in Healdsburg. Service is very friendly, casual and great with pours. The patio and outdoor seating is great for a bottle and a picnic. Worth a club membership.

Fantastic wine, even better people. Small, quaint, and unpretentious. One of the best experiences in Sonoma.

After reading the other reviews I must have hit this place on a really off day. The servers were uninterested in telling us anything about the wine and only about the case specials. My friend had just joined one of their sister wineries and Mazzocco came highly recommended. After tasting a few, none warranted a purchase, and the male and female servers made the experience one I wouldn’t repeat.

One of the most pleasant experiences I have had at winery, Mazzocco is definitely in my top 3 tasting rooms. I really liked how so many of the pourers at Mazzocco are super young and yet so so knowledgeable about wine, it’s very endearing and makes the place feel very family-run. Last I was there, they were doing an exclusively zinfandel day, which is totally fine by me. Their Stone and their Beasley are two of the most enjoyable wines I have had, but Maple is also one not to miss, although that one is member only. But that’s OK because you should definitely become a member if you are not one already. You really cannot go wrong with any of their wines, especially their Zinfandels. Shout out to the pourers who gave us such generous pours of the Kenneth Carl Reserve! You the real MVP fam. The tasting room is big and spacious and they spread out multiple tasting bars in different areas inside and outside of the room. They have a gorgeous patio, ample parking, and glasses of those cracker breadsticks all over the room. I’ve been known to just make a meal out of it. Just kidding… maybe…

Mazzoccu’s wines were constantly great all across the board. We walked in the customer service was friendly and accommodating. They were very polite and knowledgable. We signed up for their membership to receive some wine and were very happy with the options they offered. The views are also amazing and have a great outdoor seating area where you can enjoy the view, have a nice conversation, and great glass of wine.

Holy cow!!! Every wine here is super wonderful. Each time we tried one we thought it would be the best, then the next one was even better. We bought the Beasley Zin, it was soooo good, it makes you want to drink wine with breakfast… the Kenneth Carl was even better but at $ 150 a bottle, I will have to wait until my birthday to get that one…

If you like big juicy reds, Mazzocco is the place to visit. Very friendly staff and they have a large list of wines to be served. Take your time with the wines here, there are many different zins from a variety of vineyards but they are all distinct and different from each other. You want a spicy, peppery type zin, it’s here. Jammy mouth coating zin, it’s here too and several in between those two diverse styles. Just when you think you overdosed on the zins you get a taste of the petite sirah which is big and rich but very tasty. Mazzocco has a large inside tasting bar but also has comfortable outdoor seating to relax while wine sipping.

Mick Brockman is the saving grace of the tasting room! As a former wine club member and the daughter of a current wine club member, we visit mazzocco as often as possible. Of all the tasting professionals, Mick is the most professional, knowledgable and personable. Not to mention I’ve known him through elementary school and high school :) thanks for eventing, Mick! See you in the fall!

What a staff! I proposed to my girlfriend at this winery and it could not have been any better. This place was awesome! The staff did an amazing job accommodating us. They had never done a proposal before, so I was able to propose the way I had pictured it with no problems. We first went for wine tasting in our private tasting room. The selection was absolutely amazing. Next we went on a helicopter tour. This was the perfect location to do so because they have an airport directly behind the winery, with a little research, many helicopter tour companies were able to pick us up from here. When we came back from the tour, as we were walking back they had a perfect picnic with wine and all set up for the two of us right between the vineyard. They truly made our day perfect!

The 2015 Passport to Dry Creek wine event was my second opportunity to visit Mazzocco Vineyards … an absolutely gorgeous winery. Incredible views of their property surround a nice, clean and modern tasting room that is elegant and spacious. For the DCVPassport event, they had live music and duck salads to accompany the wine tasting. Since being club members of Mazzocco, we got invited to a special barrel tasting upstairs, which highlighted their Pony and Maple Zinfandel Futures. Overall, Mazzocco is known for jammy Zinfandels which I love. This is definitely one of my favorite wineries in Dry Creek and we showed how much we love their wines by going home with another full case.

OK, I am not a sommelier, but I know what I like. I’m a big Pinot Noir fan, but the Zinfandels here have helped me broaden my mind; even their Petit Syrah gives me a new appreciation for this varietal! Wine maker Antoine is a magician, turning wonderful fruit into amazing wines! For my palette I find the Cabernets a bit light, but still an excellent wine from here. The host staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, especially Jeff, Charlotte and Mick! So, if you’re interested in trying some wonderful wines, then make a point to stop in here when you visit Healdsburg. I find it funny that the VERY few negative reviews I’ve seen posted here are NOT about the wines, but the service. To that I say, «Get over your entitlement! If you are expecting special service/treatment than DON’T visit a tasting room during special events, this is when tasting rooms are the most crowded with folks, probable people like you, that really are not interested in the wines or craftsmanship behind them, but only out for a quick ‘buzz’ and to get their monies worth because they bought an expensive ‘ticket’ to an event!»

A nice blend of good wine and cool vibe. If you enjoy zinfandel, this is for you, though they have some other, mostly reds, as well. I enjoyed the friendly staff and tastings were free and generous. Plenty of places to sit and kick back. We liked it so much that we’re including it as part of our wedding weekend wine tour.

This was my first time visiting Mazzocco and I love, love, loved it! Their wines are fantastic, I kid you not, every single one is delicious! There was no fee to taste and we were able to choose several wines to sample. I ended up leaving with 2 bottles. They have very good zin and cab blends! This winery is not to be missed, I will be joining their wine club!

Touring the outdoor winery with our charming winemaker, Antoine Favero(pictured above), proved to be a hoot! Favero’s wit and charm got me past any fear of climbing stair after to stair to get a view of sweet bubbling fermenting grape juice, the local Sonoma airport and piles of reusable grape compost. We also tasted sun-sweetened Cabernet grapes in their clusters fresh from harvest! Most of the harvested grapes are only fermented via natural yeast according to Favero. The winery was built in the ‘80s and is one of the rare ones that is all outdoors. The barrel room didn’t have any electric cooling units; instead the unique ceiling was built to bring in the cool air, and, as an added gift, it was beautiful to look up at. After my travel pal Claudia Sheridan practiced the art of «punch down» we returned to the tasting room to sample a few award winning wines(see tasting notes below) and later, enjoy a picnic lunch with Favero. Best of Class and Double Gold medals 2012 Stuhlmuller Reserve Chardonnay Oak, cream and butter aroma notes followed by tart lemon lime and creamy finish. 2012 Zinfandel, Briar Red cherries, mint; spicy, light tannins, long finish. 2012 Zinfandel, Sullivan More mature darker fruit, bursting cherries, dusty plums, charred oak; pungent dark fruit, greet-me-in-the-face spice and pepper. 2012 Zinfandel, Pony Reserve Red, blue and black fruit, black pepper, dark dry chocolate; blue fruit, chocolate again. 2012 Zinfandel, Maple Reserve Milk chocolate, cracked green pepper, spicy; Nice balance of fruit and spice, drink now with or without food, just go for it. 2012 Zinfandel, Smith Orchard Reserve Perfumy nose, flower garden, dark fruit, cracked black pepper; intense, spicy, very good. 2012 Antoine Philippe Reserve(Zinfandel blend) The most balanced nose with notes of dust, crushed spices, good and fruity; milk to dark chocolate, incredible balance, smooth — shoot me that is good.(Favero sent us home with a bottle and an ice chest; this bottle, opened and in the car most of the time, lasted three days and could’ve gone longer.) If you are a fan of our good friend the Zinfandel grape. And since you’re probably headed to Dry Creek, I am betting you are then Mazzocco is a must stop. The tasting room is staffed by super knowledgable and friendly people. You can tell they love their jobs and entertain your way through sampling some of the best wine(and at excellent values) around. We were first introduced to Mazzocco by a friend of ours who is a long time wine club member, so we already had a preview of how tasty the wine would be, but the actual experience of tasting here exceeded our expectations. The grounds are beautiful and spacious and there is an outside sitting area where you can sit and sip. They have found a place into our hearts and will be making regular pit stops and refuel.

The 2011’s are something to hold onto! 2012 releases in a couple weeks need a little resting time. They are still early. Great staff. Kind and very interactive. They will be honest, and tell you what’s ready and what needs time. I will definitely come back!

The best reds on our Sonoma wine trip. The Zins had beautiful color and deep flavor. The cabs were an added bonus. This is a small vineyard with a nice setting to try their wines. Leslie was very helpful.

Zinfandels — I think that is my new found love for the type of wine that I prefer now! To begin, Joe Vaughn was our gracious server and was very thorough about the history of this wine venue as well as the wine selections that we taste tested! I was delighted from the wine experience, shared here! Mazzocco is named after the owner, who was once an ophthalmologist. He went to Davis as a med student and switched careers. This vineyard was then sold in 2005. Z I N F A N D E L S 2012 Chardonnay Meola White Wine — The opening. Sets the bar — clean. 2011 Serracino — Still getting there on tantalizing the palate. 2011 Beasley — My favorite! Sweet and with fruity complex! 2011 West Dry Creek — Smooth. 2011 West Dry Creek Reserve — Smoother. 2011 Seaton — I didn’t care for it. 2011 Smith Orchard Reserve — If you like it a little bit coarse, you’ll like this one! 2011 Fascination, Dry Creek Valley — Not much of a fascination, but still feasible. 2011 Caz, Dry Creek Valley — I love this one too! 2009 Merlot — Won the gold medal! Swirl it aplenty and the taste is amazing! I see why it is a winner! 2007 Inheritance — Last, but not least. Leaving a sense of content and a yearning for more. Such goes for all inheritance, I presume. Joe, gave us a bonus with the 2009 Pony Reserve Petite Sarah! With the remodeled contemporary décor and the pleasant view outdoors, Mazzocco has won me over and I have discovered an endearing love in Zinfandels!
