This is one of those wineries that really makes you stop and ponder your life choices Why do I live in New Jersey? Why do I not live in Sonoma? It can’t be that hard to open a winery, right? Wait…how do you make wine? I guess it’s not all that easy. However, the folks down at MoniClaire made it look effortless. And given their expansive property with breathtaking views of the Sonoma Valley, luxurious infinity pool and adorable wine tasting room I’m sure they are perfectly content with their decision to have opened a winery. This was our last stop on the Platypus tour and was also the most beautiful. Words really don’t do the property justice, but the views were by far some of the best I’ve ever seen. The owner spent nearly an hour with us. We started in the tasting room where we had a few pours and tastes of cheese. We were then escorted through the property and over to his personal home and deck where we were able to snap photos overlooking the beautiful views of the wine region. The owner told us stories about the vineyard and we learned about how he quit a job in Silicon Valley to pursue his dream and named the vineyard after his two daughters. Our stop at MoniClaire was the perfect ending to our day of Sonoma wine touring and left me wondering one thing. Can I move in?

Two friends and I spent a week in the Sonoma region, and hands down, this was the best winery we visited the entire week. It’s by appointment only because of zoning laws, so call in advance, but Peter(the owner) spent over an hour with us. He gave us a tour of the property — I learned a ton about wine making — and made us feel as if our company was fun and enriching. And the wine is delicious. Hands down, my favorite in all of Sonoma County.

We stopped here as the last stop on a tour. We hadn’t eaten yet and ate our lunch outside with the owner Peter. He was very nice to sit and wait while we sobered up so he could talk about the wine, and showed us around his property. Their view and property is beyond gorgeous. We ended up staying and hanging out there for probably close to two hours, and we even made a follow up visit the next day. Thanks for the great hospitality Peter & Mary Beth, can’t wait to get my shipment and enjoy more of that petit Syrah! Also, if you’re a cat person(like me) they have some really sweet cats on the property, but Gucci was by far my fav. *try to set up an appointment ahead of time*

Went here for a tasting as part of a tour. The property is BEAUTIFUL-it is the owners house. It will make you want to become a winery owner! The tasting was very relaxed and we got to take our time. It was given by the owner Peter who described all of the wines to us and answered everyone’s questions. The first few glasses we had in the tasting room, then moved out to the deck which has spectacular views. Then back into the tasting room for a barrel tasting. We finished with our tour provided lunch on the patio with our last few glasses. Such a great experience and don’t miss the«guard cat» Spike!

A family owned and operated winery that produces extraordinary wines in a beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards and views. A visit to MoniClaire is like wine tasting used to be when the owner and/or winemaker poured their wines and told the back-story of each vintage. Love the wines, especially the Zins and beautifully crafted Petite Sirahs. A must visit for Sonoma! See for details.

Our favorite vineyard! Peter is such an amazing host and he puts out a nice spread of food as well as wine. We had our own personal tasting experience with the owner. Love their Zin’s! Call ahead for an appointment though cause it’s a very small family-run business.

I have visited MoniClaire a few times and have totally enjoyed their Estate Grown Zinfandels and Petite Sirahs. MoniClaire is a small producing winery located in the famed Dry Creek region of Sonoma County. The owners, Peter and MaryBeth, are very gracious and very passionate about the wines that they produce.

We stopped by Moniclaire as part of the Wine Treasure Trails excursion and it was a fantastic surprise. When we arrived, Peter had an amazing array of wonderful snacks waiting for us(just in time for lunch!) to be paired with their fantastic wines. We spent a fabulous two hours enjoying the patio and wine tasting area with Peter sharing his knowledge. My husband and I are novice wine growers and Peter shared so much really helpful advice! We joined the wine club(a no brainer) and left with a case of really tasty wines. At the prices they are charging for a wine this good in this area, I really felt like I was stealing them! Thanks again for a really great Sonoma county wine experience.
