Awesome Pinot Noir. Owner/winemaker on sight pouring today. I think he said the produce 800 cases total a year. All wines were $ 50 each. Beautiful structure, great finish. Not a lot of tannins. Really lived this wine!

This may be the smallest tasting room in Sonoma, but Hank and Maggie make some outstanding pinot. Elegant, balanced, with a sense of place and downright delicious, their wines never fail to come out on top in a blind tasting.

Skewis is in the section of Healdsburg near the Russian River Bridge. I am definitely getting to like that area more every time I go. The wife and I went in for a tasting last Sunday. One of the owners was there, perhaps it was Mrs. Skewis. She was super-friendly and let us taste and compare 5 pinots. She even opened some St George cheese to taste while we drank. The wines were all distinctive and complex and rich and seemed to be make with seriousness and care. I got 2 bottles of the 2011 Anderson Pinot. It had complexity but lots of rich deep fruit also.

I have never been to the tasting room, but i did sign up for their mailing list. Super premium wine is difficult to get in Tennessee. I signed up because of an online review of their wine saying how incredible their wine was. I have been on Kosta Brownes mailing list for 8 years and am on probably 3 dozen mailing lists with some of the best quality pinot noir in the world. I tasted the 2012 Skewis Ridley Vineyard Pinot Noir alongside a single vineyard Kosta Browne and a single vineyard Williams-Selym. The Skewis was hands down a unanimous favorite. If you like a fruit-forward elegant Pinot Noir, DONOTMISS the Skewis Ridley Pinot Noir.

We hit this place first during one day of barrel tasting and were glad we did. They had 5 to 6 different types of Pinot at their tasting bar. Most of them were delicious. The futures were decent(I was here barrel tasting). Staff at the bar was amazing as was the atmosphere, hence the five star review.

Probably my favorite Pinot Noir producer in all of California. This is quality wine that isn’t over the top extracted. Hank was so nice when we visited the tasting room, and about a month later I decided to join the wine club. This place is(was) my little secret. If you want to know what Pinot Noir should taste like, definitely stop by Hank and Maggie’s tasting room!

OK, I’m lucky, since i live in Healdsburg, where the Skewis wines are made, and therefore I can drop by their tasting room. But I bring my friends there, too, whenever I can. I like their Pinots for their leanness, juicy acidity, and MODERATEALCOHOL(yay!). My favorite is the Ridley vineyard, from somewhere high up in the Anderson Valley. Maggie and Hank are warm and unassuming, and Hank plays a mean banjo. Stop in a make friends with a great bunch of fine Pinots! Dave Henderson

For 17 years, Skewis wines were hard to find unless you dined at some of the high-end restaurants featuring their low-production pinot noirs, sourced from low-yield vines. Fortunately, Hank and Maggie Skewis have recently opened a small but charming new tasting room in Healdsburg. Hank and Maggie are 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet, and are passionate and very knowledgeable about wine and food. Their wines– pinot noirs only– are fantastic and complex, but not overly expensive. We purchased the Ridley($ 45) and Peters($ 48) single vineyard bottles. If you love pinot noirs, put this place on your list to visit
