I came here on a Friday night with a friend for dinner. We found this place on Groupon and went to give it a try. We were blown a way with how nice everyone was and attentive, as it was our first time here. I ordered the pappy double party burger(which I was warned that it was massive, but I had hungry eyes so I sill ordered it, and finished a third of it) my friend ordered the crab cakes and they were super yummy. We were both very happily satisfied with our food selections. I also, ordered the blueberry mojito, which was okay, but it didn’t taste like the mojitos I’m used to, not as minty or as strong,(just not my style) But I’m glad to have tried something different as the name didn’t seem to be what it was(I was expecting a small bar type of restaurant) and instead it was like a home style kind of place. I would highly recommend coming here if you’re in the mood for some good ol’ American style cooking.

It’s good/okay. The décor is cute and fun but I’ve been here several times and yet to be wowed. The menu isn’t extensive and I didn’t find much that I love. Salads are good sized and pretty good. Their chicken strips are made in house and are the most redeeming thing about the place. The fries are terrible. Just terrible. I would have given 4 stars, but generally our service has ranged from«ehhhh» to «well…it was okayish». We’ve always had to wait far too long for our bill to come. The prices are a bit on the high side considering their food is average and they’re located in Newark. If you’re not in the mood for chain food in Newark, there are far better places in the area for less money. :)

I have had a lot of bad food experiences in Ohio this was NOT one of them. I really recommend this place! First of all can you say two dollar well drinks??? I’m from California the only thing the cost two dollars is a mini bottle of water something off the dollar menu at McDonald’s… Our waitress, Amber is my new best friend… She brought me all you can eat whitefish and a delicious burger. My boyfriend help me with the eating. The fish was amazing I never like deep-fried anything. this fish with deep-fried with love! And the hamburger was so good and so soft you could eat it with no teeth… Gum that burger!!! We finished the meal off with an oyster shot. Don’t ask me to explain the mystery of good seafood in Ohio but it is a real thing. I usually don’t like American traditional food… I don’t always crave hamburgers. This place makes me want to eat pizza… And I don’t normally like pizza… Thank you Royal Thai for being closed so we didn’t have to eat another mediocre Thai meal but that’s another Unilocal review… no hating on Royal Thai… it’s the only Thai food in our neighborhood…

Went here for a group dinner on a business trip. Fun place, great service, and the wings were good.

Primarily a seafood location they do have burgers bologna sandwiches etc. kind of a sports bar atmosphere. They have an all-you-can-eat fish special which was good. Good place for a quick bite.

Sat at the bar, service was good… at first. The place wasn’t that busy so all of the«chefs» were standing behind the cook line«creeping» at all of the bar patrons. Our food came out piping hot(which is good) and the food was ok. A little too greasy for me. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer and the mahi sandwich. We ordered a local beer«Bucks» that is really good. Our bar tender(who I think is the manger) started out good at first, but then began to disappear not only for the costumers but also for her wait staff.

I travel constantly for work and I usually opt for fine dining. But when I saw a pic of the All The away pizza on Unilocal,I couldn’t resist passing up the roasted duck option tonight. I’m a foodie and a pizza snob and OH. MY. GOODNESS. This All The Way pizza is the best supreme pizza I’ve had. Despite the onions and peppers, the crust is pristine with no(typical) hint of sogginess. Get here! The toppings are fresh and with jalapeños, there’s a nice, but not overpowering kick. I’ll be back if I’m in town again.

Tried it for the first time today. Had the Mahi Ruben. Fish was a bit over cooked but the sandwich was pretty good overall. Sampled the frog legs and pizza. Not bad. Service was good also. I’d go back.

The steakhouse burger I had was ok. Not great but not bad. The service was decent. The fried pickles were great. The batter they used was really good. So I imagine the fish would be excellent. I’m definitely going back to try the fish.

James G is correct… the food is sub-par here. Go around the corner and get the 9-Iron sandwich from Leghorn’s.

I’m going to have to agree with the previous Unilocaler on Pappy’s. Definitely sub par comparing to the other owner’s restaurants. Pappy’s has now been open for several months yet the food is average at best and the staff still appears inexperienced/slow. From a strictly dining experience, I would certainly suggest another option in the area such as Leghorn’s. However, if you are looking for a place to gather as a group and watch some football, their back area is is very accommodating and atmosphere is solid. Grab a power tower for the table with your favorite beer and order some appetizers. This is something I have yet to see in other establishments in the are which I really like. Basically it’s like having your own tap on the table that holds around 10 beers. Helps if the service is slow because you are essentially serving yourself! 3 stars because although the food is limited in option and service is below average(my experience), I like hanging out in the back with my favorite sports program with a large group, enjoying beer from my personal tap without a lot of interruption.

Pleasant atmosphere, mediocre everything else. I just got back from lunch at Pappy’s Grill with my co-workers. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in and liked the overall look and feel of the place. The menu has a nice selection of food and we were excited to try some of the dishes. That’s where the experience started its downhill slide. One co-worker asked about the soup of the day. The response? «We don’t have any yet. We’ve only been open three days and it hasn’t arrived on the truck yet.» The soup is coming in on a truck? Not promising. The food took quite a while to come out and we admired what looked like quite tasty food as other patrons were served. We got our hopes up, but they were quickly dashed when the food arrived. A couple of us tried the Blackened Mahi Reuben. It sounded a little strange, but just possibly good. The waitress raved about it and said everyone has loved it. The fish was overcooked, not blackened, and drenched in some sauce that made the toasted rye quite soggy. The french fries were clearly from the freezer section of the local discount market. One person tried the Zingers with a mango habanero sauce on the side. The only possible explanation for the sauce was that the cook didn’t know what mangoes or habaneros were and assumed they were butter and mustard. Absolutely no hint of mango or habanero and no spice. He requested a second side of mango habanero just to compare them, but it never made it to our table. When he asked about the second sauce he requested, the waitress responded, «This was the right sauce. I ordered it.» She never acknowledged that she forgot to bring out the sauce. Thankfully, I paid with cash. One of the guys paid with a credit card and was accidentally charged the wrong amount. When the waitress came back, she tried to cover it up by saying she had accidentally deleted the transaction and would need to rerun his card. Thankfully he was able to point out the mistake and they were able to remove the charge after a quite painful five to ten minutes watching them sweat at the cash register. Now I’m sitting at my desk writing a review while my stomach is rumbling. Maybe ordering Mahi in the Midwest is not the smartest move… Will I be back? I’ll probably give them a chance. The burgers looked excellent and I would expect them to compare to the ones at the owner’s other restaurants(The Grill on 21st and The Chop House). But for now, they have only earned two stars.
