I would not recommend this place to anyone with digestive problems. The floor is super greasy and you leave smelling like grease. The pizzokies are the only reason I went back. This is the only place I’ve ever been that’s consistently made my stomach turn inside out. The kitchen looks scuzzy.

My husband and I decided to try Shade for dinner. It wasn’t very impressive. We waited over 10 minutes after seating ourselves before anyone acknowledged us and got our drink order. They we’re very busy. We ordered nachos for an appetizer. It was a good portion and pretty tasty. I ordered the Reuben, which was ok. Husband ordered a fish sandwich, which was over cooked. He only ate half of it. We finished our beers and left. It reminded us of a knock off Roosters restaurant, except Roosters is way better. Beer was cold, appetizer was good so we’d probably go back to watch a game, but not for a dinner.

Waay better than Roosters, any day, any time! Salads are good, wings are fresh, and large. Beer is icy cold. We like the half order of loaded nachos, an order of wings, and 2 small La Café salads, my hands down favorite salad. Last time the tables weren’t as clean as in the past, otherwise we’re as happy as the first time we ate here!

Terrible service. Wait staff is obviously not trained well. The spinach & artichoke dip is very good but fish tacos are pretty short on the fish. Very disappointed overall. Prices a tad high for the quality of food and service.

I really wanted to like this place. I mean — really wanted to. There aren’t many options for us out in Newark and were fairly excited upon finding Shade, going in and seeing their very extensive menu. We went on Friday night around 9pm. The place was fairly crowded but the bartender acknowledged us fairly quickly. I was a little weirded out because the guys in the kitchen were making weird gestures in my direction and after turning around, determined it couldn’t be at anyone behind us. All the waitresses were loitering near the end of the bar and gossiping loudly. Not really the type of atmosphere or treatment anyone would want. We wanted to get a couple of things to snack on. We initially requested the buffalo chicken dip but were advised that they were out. So, we settled on pretzel sticks, 6 wings and sour cream fries. So… pretzel sticks. They turned out pretty well. The cheese dip was OK, the pretzels were soft. The wings. So, I prefer my wings crispy and asked for them in hot garlic. What came out to me was probably the worst wings I have ever seen/tasted in my life. They were crispy for sure. Like dead, I pulled them out of the frier because they were dropped in there a week ago crispy. They also came out in what appeared to be a grease bath. It definitely wasn’t wing sauce. To make things worse, after lifting the wings up, there were literally burned fries underneath and in the grease pool. BURNEDDARKBROWNFRIES. I mean… REALLY? I can’t speak to the sour cream fries because well… I never got them. After getting the wings, I was done. We got our check and ran for it. I might go back to try a sandwich, but I can guarantee you I will never touch anything that goes into that fryer ever again. Honestly, I probably won’t step foot in there again. For being a chain that received a decent amount of good reviews, I am beyond disappointed.

When I got here there were four people standing around hostess desk chatting. Told me to seat myself. Sat in a booth for 15 minutes and our waitress just kept walking by us never even acknowledged we were there. Needless to say I got up to leave at that point. As we were leaving we were walking out the front door and our waitress was standing playing with straws chatting with the hostess. I told her, us and another table had been sitting there waiting and nobody even acknowledged us as we were walking out. Very very unprofessional and I have been a server for 11 years.

Chili Mac is great, pulled pork nachos are one of a kind. Great atmosphere with a friendly weight staff.

Is this Roosters? Almost. The owners ran Roosters for some time and bought a place in Canal Winchester and revamped it to a Roosters style place. Through a non-compete contract, they were not allowed to offer certain menu items for 5 years. Now they own this place and one in Athens. This Heath location looks just like a Roosters since it’s in an old Bob Evan’s building. The food, just like Shade on the Canal in Canal Winchester. THESAME. It’s just has Henry Hawk replacing the Canal Frog. Good food, always consistent. Value not too bad. I’d rather eat here than at Roosters.

I headed over at about 9 on a Saturday and the place wasn’t too busy which I was happy with. I stood around the hostess station for a few minutes and nobody seemed to pay me any attention. The bartender eventually invited me to sit wherever I like and I placed my order there at the bar. The atmosphere was nice enough and I couldn’t object to the music, but there seemed to be a lot of staff hanging around bored and talking very loudly, complaining about various things. This was a bit tiring. When my food arrived, nachos, onion rings, and a pulled pork sandwich, I was underwhelmed immediately; It all looked very unappetizing. The food was unilaterally unseasoned, the pork was dry(I assume from sitting out for a while), onion rings were bland and greasy, and the nachos were a mess on a far too small plate. The beer selection is good enough, but I’d rather go to a Rooster’s.

Went there yesterday for lunch. I got some wings and a cup of chili, she got some wings and the grilled chicken salad. The wings were excellent! She got the«hot» and I got the«Ragin’». Great sauce flavor, and the wings are very large. My chilli was meh. Watery and bland… I dont recommend it. She said her salad was good, but the chicken was over cooked(dry). I would have gave 3 stars, but the wings earn them the 4th!

If you like Roosters, then you will like this place. It is nearly identical in every way, including the menu, dishes and atmosphere.

The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars is because of the atmosphere and weak beer selection. The food on the otherhand is literally outstanding. Only problem? Too much of a selection! I have tried 5 or 6 different items(including their wings) and all were cooked to perfection and delicious. Try the mac and cheese and chernoble sauce on your wings. Don’t forget dessert! The warm macadamia nut cookie a la mode is out freaking standing!
