I ordered ice tea and the smoked salmon crêpe. When I tasted the ice tea it was BITTER. I’ve brewed enough ice tea to know that if it turns out bitter it was not properly brewed. As for the crêpe, I ate 3 bites and left the rest. It was so salty it was inedible. I am from Seattle and have eaten smoked salmon for a lifetime. There is NO reason for this excess of salt. I was grateful for the badly brewed tea to attempt to get the horrible tasting crêpe from my mouth. It made me wonder if the staff actually tastes the food. If so, you need to change staff. Before posting this I read the other reviews and found that others had issues with this menu item. The defensive tone of the management response to comments indicates that there is no real concern for customer opinions. No matter to me, I won’t return. for $ 15 I will definitely go elsewhere.

Friendly service and adorable décor, so two thumbs up. As for the meal it was awful. The clam chowder tasted as if it were out of a can, over cooked and made with water. The salad was not very fresh so I was unable to eat it. As far as the crepes go, my husbands was the Greek gyros, cold and the meat was mealy almost like it had freezer burn. Mine was the honey salmon with cream cheese, tasted fine, however about an hour after eating I felt very ill almost as though I had food poisoning good thing we went home. In fact we both could have felt much better. While we were there nobody came in. The employees said that it has been slow for a while.

Fun creative Crepes and sides, cool atmosphere, and good people. We are regulars at the restaurant and have used them to cater and have never had a bad experience.

I had the veggie crêpe with broccoli soup. Both were delicious and together satisfying. We ended the meal with the cheesecake crêpe(big!) and strawberries and cream crêpe. Both were delicious and too much food for two people to finish. Staff was courteous. Overall– two thumbs up!

Good food fast, not fast food. Everything is fresh and made to order. They will make it the way you asked for it no problem. Try the lemonade its real real good

Their stand has always been awesome, so I’ve tried going in to their permanent location twice. Twice, we ordered lamb. Twice, we got garlic shrimp instead of lamb. Twice, we tried to be forgiving and go with the order mess-up… and twice, the garlic shrimp had way too much oil and parsley, bordering on inedible. Other things on the menu are great, and they have good hours 7 days a week(a big plus in a place where things close early and on Sundays), but the service is inconsistent and I feel like asking for lamb then getting unpalatable shrimp is some inside joke I’m not in on. Maybe I’ll try more sweet options if I swing by again, but otherwise I’ll stick to strawberry mint lemonade and the market stand.

Fun and funky place. It’s very family friendly and they offer live entertainment on the weekend. I would normally just drive by those little places in strip malls, but my husband met the owners somewhere else and they were super friendly. We checked out the restaurant and had a nice time. Interesting selection of crepes. I did order the turkey provolone and requested extra fresh spinach, which they added. One suggestion is to offer a crêpe that is heavy on veggies(maybe with tofu?) for those of us very careful about our diet. Still, it’s a fun place to eat and we will go there again when we are in Helena.

Food was OK. kind of expected more for how much a crêpe costs. I’m not crazy about the atmosphere either. Not horrible, but not at the top of my list of places to eat in Helena.

We’ve ate their twice, as a family. The food is good. The prices are reasonable. The people are friendly. The best part is our 3 year gets to play in the kids play area which makes our lives so much easier.

Awesome selection of crepes. I had a $ 3 cinnamon and sugar crêpe but they have a bunch of selections of breakfast and lunch items to put inside the crêpe.

Really good food at a great new spot. The staff was very courteous as well, will definitely be going back more than once. The strawberry basil lemonade was a nice addition to lunch b

Let me start this by saying, I am classically trained in French cuisine. For me the thinness of the crepes was acceptable the fillings on the other hand could use some depth of flavor. Although the ingredients are quality they need to make sure they are tasting there filling and adjusting appropriately. The broccoli cheddar soup was an unfortunate mess, it needed salt, was way over cooked and missed the mark on the cheese component. I will be coming back for a second try of this restaurant in hopes that this was a bad day. Lastly please get you flag that is an insult to the United States off the wall.

The atmosphere is good, relaxed and laid back. The food leaves something to be desired. The potato salad is in desperate need of some seasoning, it’s basically herbs, lemon juice and potatoes. No salt or spices. I ordered a custom crêpe with spinach, mushroom, asparagus, chives, and goat cheese, topped white sauce. Again it lacked spice, very bland. The soup was good, we had the broccoli cheddar. Packed with herbs like the potato salad, but fit the broccoli much better. The kids really enjoyed the smoothies, great flavor. We ordered two ham and swiss crepes and those were delicious, i guess sometimes simple is better. We will come give them another try again, so to be continued.

The ingredients are fresh and many are local and organic-they’re even growing their own herbs. No, it isn’t the cheapest in town, but I’m willing to pay more for local. Guess what else, people? THEYHAVE A PLAYAREA. Yes, a real restaurant that is super kid friendly, has vegetarian options, and is locally owned/sourcing their food locally. Hooray!

The same great crepes from the same great folks, now in a permanent location(don’t worry, they are still doing the farmers market as well). They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week and take to-go orders online or by phone. The offerings have expanded, with about 20 crêpe options(with sides) plus soups, salads, coffee, beer, wine(mimosa and a ham and cheese crêpe anyone?), smoothies, and a couple of appetizers. They also have a great play area for kids, and are growing their own herbs in the semi-open kitchen. The rest of the space is open, well-lit, and interestingly decorated. Service was a little slow, but hopefully that will improve as they work out the kinks. EDIT: service has settled into a groove, and is now quite prompt. Also, this is by far the most kid friendly restaurant in Helena, and NOT in a Chuck E. Cheese kind of way. They are quite accommodating to kids without being solely kid-oriented: the kids meals are a great value, and the awesome kid area is out of the way and non-intrusive.

So, Great Ape Crêpe is a restaurant now. They have been open for three days. And there are a few kinks to work on… 1. When you enter, it is confusing where to go. There is a sign«Order Here», but it is hard to see. 2. The drinks are by the register, and difficult to get refills. 3. Slow. Slow. Slow. They can speed it up a bit. 4. The crêpe batter, needs to be lighter. The crêpe tasted like a flour tortilla. 5. The service… they take your name and yell it out from the kitchen when your food is up… stop it! The place is noisy, and really hard to hear. Dysfunctional. I suggest a change. 6. I ordered a coffee, was first told by staff she was too busy to pour me a coffee. Then she brought me one, I went to get cream, they have an uncovered sugar bowl on the counter, no spoon, and no Splenda or Equal. Really? Okay. Not okay at all. I could continue, but will go on to the food, I ordered a Nutella Banana crêpe. It was meh, okay. I prefer more Nutella. A drizzle on top for presentation would have been good. I am willing to pay more for a crêpe oozing with Nutella. My partner had a sausage crêpe. It came with five pieces of melon. He was not crazy about it. This is a man who really wants SAUSAGE in his crêpe. There wasn’t much. Would we go here again? I had high hopes for this place. And they were crushed with my cold coffee, no Splenda, long wait, and a crêpe, that honestly, I have had better at a food park kiosk in a mall. And it was faster. However, I am willing to go back, and hope that they work out the kinks.
