By far the best BBQ you can find it the Birmingham area. Try the Brunswick Stew. I grew up in NC eating it, and theirs reminds me of home. Beats Jim n Nick’s or Full Moon by a long shot

We found the elusive Lazy Boy BBQ open this past Friday and were not impressed. I’m happy to see the historic site in Olde Town Helena occupied; however, erratic hours and overpriced BBQ is not what I envisioned for the location. We called in the rack picked it up and were extremely surprised at the price. A single rack of ribs for $ 32.00. The best ribs in the state at far more reputable BBQ joints are $ 10 a slab cheaper. Sticker shock aside the preparer of the rack was extremely heavy handed on a sweet dry rub that provided a gritty/sandy texture to the rib. The smoke flavor was masked by the rub, but the ribs did not appear overly smoky and they were tender. The sauce has a touch of spice some vinegar some sweetness, possibly appealing to some/not my preference… I did not care for the price or flavor. I doubt they will remain open in this location for any length of time considering the prices and limited hours of operation. Operating hours Thursday — Saturday 11−7/ Sunday 12 – 3.

This place has great BBQ and they are nice folks. We buy the pulled pork by the pound and it is lean(very little fat at all), juicy, and has a great smoked flavor. They also have 2 kinds of tangy, red BBQ sauce, sweet and hot. Both are good, but we like the sweet… Lazy Boy is our new favorite BBQ in Shelby County!

This place has awesome BBQ. Great sauce, friendly people, but do plan on getting your food to go. There are only a couple of eat-in tables, which is the only reason it wasn’t five stars.

Lazy BOYBBQ is the best BBQ in Alabama. The meat is so amazing. The pulled pork is tender and not greasy and the FLAVOR is outstanding. The ribs are fat and well seasoned and have the perfect smokey taste. I’ve never had chicken at a BBQ place that wasn’t dry but this chicken… it’s the best! And it’s boneless skinless breasts so I feel healthy eating it. The coleslaw is creamy and delicious and I don’t even like coleslaw. But I CRAVE this slaw. The beans are meaty and tangy and delicious. Speaking of tangy! The homemade tangy sauce is TODIE. The sweet sauce is the best I’ve tasted. Try the BBQ in a cup. It’s like a BBQ parfait! And brisket on Friday only. The building is small(used to run a food truck from) but the atmosphere and company can’t be beat. Give this little BBQ joint a try! Get there early on Saturday because they do sell out and have limited hours during the week.

Barbecue is fairly good. We went on Friday as they have brisket and burnt ends on Friday only. This is a small place, but the atmosphere was fine. We knew what to expect before we went. There are only 3 small tables, so most people get their barbecue to go. There is no drink dispenser so everything you get to drink is from a can. Also, if you want water, you have to buy bottled water. The burnt ends were not at all crisp. That is why you do burnt ends. Also, I got a pound of brisket to go. It was cut with the grain which makes it tough and ruins the meat. Someone cutting brisket with the grain tells me I am dealing with someone who does not know barbecue, at least not brisket. I wrote the owner about the problem. I am sure in the future this will not be a problem as he will instruct staff.

Stopped in today to try Tommy’s «Q» and gotta tell you it’s fabulous. Brennan had the BBQ Nacho’s and said they were really good. Pulled pork had great flavor and great smokiness. I’ll be back, best BBQ in the area. Also go get your early Mardi Gras on and throw in a MoonPie for good measure.

This is my favorite BBQ in Birmingham which is saying a lot since we have lots of great places here. Everything on the menu is stellar but I love the BBQ in a cup and the BBQ nachos. Plus the slaw is terrific, a family recipe. I can’t wait to try the BBQ brisket on Fridays, but I may still have to order some chicken anyway. It is too good to miss. This is family owned business(buy local) and the service is fast and friendly. It is well worth the drive to Old Helena for food this good.

Lazy Boy BBQ… oh how I love thee, let me count the ways! This place is my jam. From the pulled pork and chicken to the awesome sides(love the beans, and the pimento cheese is the best)! The thing that sets it all off though is their sauce. It’s literally the best sauce I’ve ever had! It’s a red vinegar based spicy sauce that is so good on all their meats. I just dip white bread in it too. We buy it by the bottle. Give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed. Not only is the food great and their menu items creative, but the owners are some of the best restauranteurs/people you’ll ever meet! #thatsaucetho

I first experienced Lazy Boy BBQ when they were only doing pick up orders and their food was worth the wait and fantastic. They then had a food truck(trailer) and are doing events and my family and I would go often wherever they were. Now a brick and mortar building? Perfect. Now I can run down the street and get the best ribs I have ever had. The rest of the menu is amazing too. The food and people there are fantastic. one of the best experiences I have ever had. The owner, operators are a true family business and great at it.
