Like the other Mac Rivers around. Love the Greek salad, and the pizza. I like the rancher, flathead or any of them really. I get the original crust, which is herby and delicious. Get a beer or a glass of wine too. I enjoy getting a local Montana beer or two with my meal. The lodge poles are great as an app but not necessary for two people. Throughout the state, Mackenzie’s are pretty consistent and great place for visitors or locals.

Went here the first night I was in Helena for work. I loved the interior décor of this location. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table but it just shows you how popular this location is on a weekday in the summer. We had a large party and they got everyones order right and were very quick about making sure everything was out in time and all fresh and that everyone was happy with what they were eating. The service was good like most of my experiences at this chain but this one did seem a little bit more original or bigger, I can’t put my finger on it exactly but it did have a little different look to it, sort of. Regardless it was delicious like most of my experiences at this restaurant.

Quite literally a salad on top of a pizza. Sheesh, the pictures look so good but trust me that is not what you get. I ordered the Clubhouse pie and what I got was a baked crust and then a bunch of lettuce drenched in dressing plopped right on top.(see pictures). And this was some seriously dressed lettuce far beyond offensively. The Bistro pizza didn’t venture to transform into a salad(thank goodness). But it had a lot going on: olive oil, garlic, bleu cheese, pears, proscuitto, more glaze, etc. I mean the crust was good if it were actually a cheesy bread. But once you add a topping or two it’s truly just waaay too much. Needless to say, both these pizzas were very heavy. Not for the light of heart. I think a small mom and pop artisan bistro with a private garden in the back would have pulled off fancy pies a tad bit better, don’t you think? The end result just tasted like the cook piled and piled on toppings and sauces. Order up! I feel like maybe we should have had a modest soup or a salad for a safer bet. Oh wait, my pizza basically was a salad. I’ll just steer away from that too.

Went in around noon. The wait was very little. We asked for a table instead of a booth. We were seated in quieter area of the restraunt. The kids were immediately given crayons and a coloring mat. This was helpful as we usually have to pack them something to entertain themselves with until the food arrives. The menu was very easy to navigate through. We place a order for lodge poles & drinks as we waited for our other lunch mates to arrive. The lodge poles were out with our drinks. It was nice as the kids were now entertained and we’re munching on something. Our other guests arrived and we ordered. We got kids pizzas for the kiddos and we ordered a cottonwood on thin crust. I saw that the had ricotta on another pizza and decided to give her a try on ours as its somewhat unique for a pizza. The pizza arrived and the kiddos were loving theirs. Ours arrived and looked excellent. The thin crust was perfect. The pizza however to our taste was over powered by the basil that they used so it over took the toppings including the ricotta. For this I will rate it at 4 stars. The server never checked on us the rest of the time also so the experience was not the greatest. I would recommend Mckenzie river but I’d ask them to go light on the basil and pray you get a better server.

Just had a thin crust pizza delivered. Dry crust, burnt toppings. It was like eating pizza that had been sitting under a heat lamp for half the day.

Just wanted to say that we had a wonderful experience yesterday August 3. We were passing through Helena on our way to Yellowstone and our hotel staff recommended Mackenzie River so we figured we would give it a go. Our table was on the bar side in the large booth towards the back. Our server Ally was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She helped us to pick a great local beer for my husband and delicious glass of cabernet for myself. When it came to our son, who has issues with dairy, she helped guide us in the right direction so that he could also enjoy his meal. The food did take some time to get to the table. It was fairly busy at the time we were there and Ally’s positive demeanor kept us entertained. We had a small half cheese half pepperoni pizza and a large barbeque pork pizza. Both were pretty tasty. Our son with the dairy sensitivity had barbeque wings, they were a nice change since they were baked instead of fried. Thank you Mackenzie River of Helena for the nice evening.

This is a solid go-to for fresh fare. I usually get their Cobb salad, which is unfortunately more«Cobb» than salad. I always end up with way more bacon and blue cheese left over without enough lettuce. Nonetheless, it’s a great salad. Nice modern décor and nice staff. This is one of the few restaurants in Helena I can confidently recommend.

The bathroom was really nice and clean. The service(Lisa L) was amazing! She made sure we had everything we needed without being obnoxious. She had great suggestions on drinks. The appetizers were out extremely fast even though it was busy. The pizza(the clubhouse) was incredible and was perfectly timed. I cannot say enough about how great my experience was. Best pizza in town!

Always good here… food, service. décor…I’ve eaten at the one in Missoula and it’s nice to know that no matter which location you go to… you’ll know what to expect.

This is Food grade material and provides calories, this is beyond question. We had the Thai wings, which were soggy on delivery and unremarkable, and a Large Pizza«the Bistro». Large is about 14″, I was expecting 16″, and the crust was still doughy. If what you want is Food grade material with plenty of calories this place has it and will deliver for a nominal fee of $ 1.50. Perfect diet food as there is no reason to eat beyond the portion you require for sustenance.

I have been here many times growing up. I was home over the weekend visiting my parents and my mom and I decided to go Black Friday shopping. We swung in for a quick lunch and ordered all you can eat salad soup and breadsticks. We both ordered the chicken chili. We had to wait forever to even get our salad that was brown and slimy. I’m not one to complain so I moved on to the soup. The soup was only slightly warm. We had to wait again forever to get our drinks refilled. We ended up going to the counter to pay because we didn’t want to have to wait even longer for the check. This place has really gone downhill since I have last been in. I will not be returning. You know you had a bad meal when the diet coke was the best part.

Great lunch. The sandwiches are big enough to share. The soup was great. They even added an extra soup just for us. Our waiter, Bradley was the hottest, funniest and best waiter to make the food even better(Myrna quote). Really cold beer and great selection.

Great pizza for a reasonable price! I ordered the Cheesesteak pizza and it had the right amount of cheese, sauce, meat, and veggies. Usually cheesesteak pizzas I’ve ordered before taste a bit salty, but their pizza had the perfect amount of salt. The ambiance was relax and quiet, mind you it was 3pm. The lodgepoles were ‘meh.’ Honestly, they brought back those childhood memories of Chuck E. Cheese breadsticks. Never having those again. Loved the décor at this place! Felt like I was in a cabin in the woods. Booths were generously larger than normal. Clean restaurant and ladies bathroom(with the exception of a pesky fly). Our waitress was prompt and friendly. She gave suggestions on what to try. She refilled our drinks quickly. It wasn’t busy at all, mind you it was 3pm. Overall good experience and would definitely try this place again!

We had lunch at MacKenzie for our large group of about 25. We were seated in their party room off to one side of the restaurant where we had our own server. We had ordered our pizzas, salads and nachos in advance which were waiting for us at the bar when we arrived. Food was good. Service was friendly and efficient.

Salsa was very good and quick to get to our table. The salsa had a nice kick but could have been diced up more finely, I’m not a fan of huge chunks. The pizza was amazing! The crust was perfectly cooked and had a great crisp, not soggy at all. They added the perfect amount of toppings and the flavor was great!

Since I am from California, I have tried and sampled pizzas from California Pizza Kitchen, and I can honestly say I’m over it. Screw«gourmet» pizza, I want something more traditional. Fortunately for me, MacKenzie River Pizza Co. offers both the traditional and the gourmet, and I was able to find a happy medium between the two. My husband and I split a large«Rancher» pizza, described as «Mozzarella, ground beef, pepperoni, bacon, tomatoes, red onions and green peppers». It was an excellent choice and we were both very full off just splitting that pizza. I also had a nice local beer with my meal so I was a happy camper by the end of the evening. Will definitely visit a location again when in Montana and/or the Pacific Northwest.

I was staying at the Residence Inn, and I didn’t rent a car. I either had to walk about a mile to get my dinner, or get takeout. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and gave me coupons to MacKenzie River. There was a coupon for free Lodgepoles and 10% off. MacKenzie let me combine both coupons! I ended up with a Small Cottonwood Pizza, Lodgepoles, and a Small MacKenzie Cobb Salad. You’re probably thinking… damn, that’s a lot of food for one person! And yes, it was. But I couldn’t pass up the coupons, and I was hungry. Everything I ordered could’ve fed two to three people, and I had a lot leftover. The salad was your basic Cobb salad. For a small, the portion was pretty big. The Lodgepoles were tasty. They had a good amount of cheese, and everything was still nice and hot when it got to me. The pizza was good. I’m usually a meaty kind of girl, but I decided to go with chicken to be on the«healthier» side. It was tasty, but I do still prefer sausage or pepperoni on my pizza. I was quoted 45 minutes for my delivery, and they were right on time! And they delivered right to my hotel room. Very convenient for me!
