Wine 101

Large meat and cheese board is to die for! We get it every time and try different wines when we go. Wish we had tried it sooner. Chocolate dessert is super yummy to!

Went yesterday evening with 3 friends and loved it! We were there for 5 hours and tried multiple wines and lots of yummy food! It is definitely a place I want to go to again! It is rustic and charming and relaxing. Sunday offers a $ 5 glass of wine from any open bottle — great opportunity to try different wines — which I did. There are two desserts on the menu — one is a brownie and the other is the most amazing thing you will put in your mouth — it is chocolate and sinful! A must try! Can’t wait to return!

Been a while since I had last been to Wine 101, but my bestie, Cindy, invited me to hang out with her and this is her favorite places to be. She walks in and it’s practically a «NORM!!» moment. That’s cool. I took advantage of her wine club membership and we got a middle of the road (between sweet and dry) wine, with a Frico Rosso I’m usually not a fan of even mildly dry wines, but I really did like this wine. The Italian Dough Knots were incredible. Thumbs up Cindy and 101! Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere and nice music overhead. Looking forward to coming back.

We are always pleased with the service and overall atmosphere. I enjoy the wine selection while my husband enjoys the beer. The food is good and pairs well. If you really enjoy wine, then you must join their wine club. You get monthly bottles of wine, personalized wine glasses and a cubby to store your bottles. This is our go to after a week of work.

The place had bird shit all over the chairs and the water jug they gave us was filthy! We never saw our server after he dropped off water! After about 10 mins, we left! Good luck enjoying your wine and cheese around all the bird shit!

This is a treasure in the San Antonio/​Helotes area. This wine bar has one of the finest staff I have ever encountered!

Wine 101 had pages of wine selections. If you’re interested in wine, or are looking to try some new wines, then I would definitely recommend going here.
While I didn’t know too much about wine, the waiter gave some good recommendations. We were in larger group, so he asked us what kinds of wine or flavors we preferred, and was very helpful. If going in a large group, I would recommend getting a few different bottles of wine and trying some different flavors.
The restaurant had a really relaxed atmosphere, with nice seating both inside and outside. The outside was especially pretty, with lights going across the patio and small lit bottles. I would have preferred sitting outside if it wasn’t so cold — Wine 101 have some blankets outside, but San Antonio was still too cold.
I will definitely go back to Wine 101 in the future.

We’ve been coming here for months and the service is always great. Despite how busy it gets (spring and summer evenings especially), the staff are consistent and friendly. The platters are a welcome addition to sharing a bottle of wine in a low key comfortable environment. They have a decent selection of wines and have just expanded their indoor bar, see pictures.

I really enjoy this place. They recently moved into a new building, and it is nice but not as cozy as their old building. The staff has been nice and friendly. They do have an updated menu which is good. I am giving this 4 stars because I have had some little mishaps (being charged incorrectly, staff forgetting to bring out someone’s food, etc.) that have occurred here, however they are always quickly resolved.

A sanctuary. Great wine selections. The food is delicious. Everyone treats you like family. It’s easy to make friends here.

Even though it’s located in town, sitting outside under the lighted trees at Wine 101 is like a little escape. I was sad that the large fire pits were not lit, but I imagine they light then on the weekends. Tons of cozy indoor and outdoor seating. They have fleece blankets folded over the back of the outdoor chairs for those lovely yet slightly chilly nights. The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgable. We chose to sit outside and we were served in a timely manner. They have awesome nightly specials, and the wine prices were extremely reasonable for a wine bar. You can easily find a wine that suits your taste for under $ 30. What a steal!

The new building is wonderful with all the charm of the old one but with so much more to offer. Like a full bar and way more tables. They are planning on expanding their food options on the near future so we can’t wait to see where they go next.

Came here with a friend of ours who is part of the wine club so he had a bottle sitting in his box. They had just moved to their new location and their outdoor seating was amazing, not to mention the weather was perfect. There’s nothing better than enjoying some vino on a Friday night with good friends and wonderful ambiance. Everyone should check this place out!

Very comfortable. Great wine selection, really good prices. Knowledgeable staff. Well done antipasto/​tapas. Get the seafood and cheese plates. No wait on a Saturday night. Perfect for sitting outside. Live music but not too loud — you can still carry on a conversation.

Love love this place. Stopped with a friend before a long journey. Wonderful wine selection with outdoor seating under mature live oak trees. Fire pits placed strategically around the campus make for a cozy, cool early Springtime evening. Nice, intimate seating areas indoors as well. This makes the list o faves for sure.

What a find! This place was absolutely charming and just what we were looking for. Honestly, thank you Unilocalers. Took a look at this place on here. read two reviews or so, saw the pictures and I was sold.
Who wouldn’t love to share a bottle of wine outside under the stars. This place was far enough from the hub bub of the city which made it that much more relaxing. It was a lovely little place, no frills, a bunch of cute ambient string lights, outdoor patio like chairs and tables. We nabbed the cutest seat… a swing chair for two. This place offers tapas menu and tons of amazing wine. Perfect date night!
If you’re tired of same old Copa, Candlelight, Cove or any other SA wine bar type place then you have got to come here. Got the European plate and substituted the meat for no meat… Best cheese plate EVER! no lie
After sharing a bottle we got one bottle to go off the little menu of limited, special wines… the stuff you can’t get in stores. They will open a wine for you and let you cork it .take it with you. Great:)
By the way. the inside is adorable, quiet, quaint. Its like you’re in the cutest little house.
Overall…best date night, best wine, best cheese plate. We’re going back asap!

Yum. Yum. Yum. I love the appetizers. The selection of wine. The lovely tables outside –perfect with excellent weather. No actual entrée plates — just appetizers. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 is because they only had one waitress/​server so everything took a lot longer than it should plus they allow smoking. Boooo. Nothing ruins the moment than a big wiff of someone’s smoke. I enjoyed the vegetarian «entrée» — everything was tasty. Will be back with friends.
