George’s

I visit George’s at least 3 times a month and I get the same thing each time. So today when I ordered my food and checked it… it DID NOT look like it usually does. So I ask why!!! I was told they were trying different/​new things on the menu. I’m all for expanding and adding new items but DO NOT change or alternate the items George’s is known for. I am highly disappointed in what I ordered. I’ll think twice before ordering again.

Had lunch in this delightful home style restaurant. Nothing special to the décor but it was clean and interesting. My wife and I split an offering of a Greek pizza which had an excellent crust and Alfredo sauce. I would order this again. Fresh simple salads served with warm strips of seasoned Flatbread with olive oil and Italian spices were a nice addition. We also chose the special pork tenderloin with an enchilada sauce, jalapeño and ghost pepper cheese sauce. Very tasty except the portion size was a bit small for the price and the pork a bit dry. But creative and we left a clean plate. Our server Kanika was a delight and suggest you ask for her.
Overall a good experience over the many predictable chain restaurants in the area.

This place was highly recommended but was a disappointment…
The highlight was our waitress who was in a bad mood but still managed to be enjoyable and quite pleasant.
There were five of us… I had the seafood gumbo, it was more like a cioppino with okra served over rice, overall very tomatoe-​y.
The wings were dry.
The firecracker shrimp were overcooked and tough.
The chopped steak was tough and the vegetables were not roasted but swimming in oil.
The lasagna was good as was the chicken broccoli casserole.
The clam chowder was a bit blah, not very many clam pieces and it had too much carrot in it.
The beers were cold and quick.
Sorry to be such a downer…

⁹⁄₁₀ times, my food here is absolutely delicious. The building is great and the staff is nice. I love the choices on the menu — definitely the only place to get quality food like this in Henderson. Prices are a little high, but not high enough to stop eating there.

George‘s restaurant in Henderson and it‘s surrounding is a great restaurant indeed. first of all, very kind, respective and friendly staff they have got. although I was there in rush hours at lunch break, they served my order in time, and my steak was grilled perfect. Above all their special sauce was a different and delicious experience for me. if you‘re a fan of good food like me, you must test their wide variety dishes from Greek and American cuisine. believe in me I am certainly gonna go there again and again.

Henderson NC has very few sit down dinner options and George’s is a pleasant surprise. Located downtown in an historic building with ample parking in their own lot. The place is nicely decorated and low key with a comfortable dining area and a bar. Reasonable prices. Wide variety of dishes on the menu from Greek fare to steak and pork chops to pasta and pizza plus chef specials. Very attentive staff. The only other comparable option in this town is a Ruby Tuesdays. Avoid the Ribeyes Steakhouse at all costs.

The Carolina burger is everything you eat in a burger, angus beef chili red onions coleslaw mustard and ketchup. The chicken panini was good but wish the bread had been toasted/​grilled on both sides. Excellent sweet tea and nice staff.

I was pleasantly surprised. I had the spinach pie that can with a Greek style salad. I also had the prime rib panini. I was not crazy about the bread choice. I expected a grilled sandwich. Nonetheless, I was very satisfied with the meal.

As with most of the other reviewers, I found Georges to be as close to fine dining as you’re going to get in Henderson. Nice dining room or bar with TV if you prefer. Pretty wide array of menu items and I intended to try the ribs but the pizza looked so good I ended up getting one of Georges specials. It was delicious and the crust was to die for. Nice salad bar too, with delicious croutons and everything fresh and well lit. This is definitely going on my list of regulars when in Henderson, and that’s a small list.

Good Greek restaurant in down town Henderson. The interior is dated and not as visually appealing as the exterior but the food is good as is the service
On the menu are wraps, subs, pizzas, burgers, and pinini. Clam chowder is the signature soup and is pretty good but not great. Of course there are entrée dishes and some large large salads for a good price. The food was all good. They have homemade chips and homemade lemonade. The pizza on another guest’s table look very good as well.
There is a big covered patio with a handful of tables and mismatched chairs that could be nicer. A small bar area with a large TV and some tables. The restaurant deserves four stars but for the condition of the bathroom. They really need some attention and I would start by demoing the men’s room which reminds me of a gas station toilet. They wouldn’t even need to close down if they just rent a port a potty on the patio. Regulars would think it’s an improvement.
Seriously. Do this and you’ve got a great place I’d want to return to.

Really like this restaurant. Food was great. Staff was pleasant and quick. I will definitely be back in the future.

The burgers at lunch are great. I wish they used their awesome buns at 2 guys, which I understand they own. Also wish they had them at dinner.

This place was an oasis of great food, especially on a hot Sunday drive. Service was excellent, as mentioned in other reviews. Food was delivered promptly, even though a post-​wedding party of 25 were also in the house. We ordered the sub and a veggie panini. We were also impressed with the warm bread and zatar! Yum.
This place rocks!

I really enjoyed lunch here! The service was excellent and the ambiance was nice, although a bit dark. I ordered the eggplant parm sub with fries and it was really good. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop special with onion/​cheese/​yumminess on top and it was mouth watering-​ly good. Will definitely go back the next time I’m in the area!

Only reason I’m going high as 3 stars is because the service was great… 2 stars for room temp french fries and a less than stellar burger. The service was perfectly attentive but not overbearing which was perfect for lunch. I was able to get some work done while in Henderson on business. This also gets 3 stars just for not being a chain restaurant in a town of nothing but chains.
The food… I ordered a bleu cheese burger and fries. The fries arrived barely lukewarm. This is a cardinal sin! The burger was cooked well done. I couldn’t get it cooked to order according to health code which is actually «code» for pre-​manufactured frozen patty thrown on the flat top. The only flavor to the burger was the bleu cheese. Oh well… sigh.

If you are in Henderson, NC… you’re onky choice for a good meal with great service is George’s. I usually have one of the specials and am never disappointed!

I am giving this 4 stars not as much for what I ordered but more so for the table. I will give them a pass on what I ordered as it was me who ordered it and had different expectations.
Its a nice little bistro type restaurant downtown henderson. It says american fare but looking at the menu a lot of Italian influence. When we walked in there were 3 tables and all of them had ordered the pizzas.
Group of coworkers came in and ordered some appetizers and drinks before dinner. This could be where the american fare came in. Interesting mix, mega fries which are fries with cheese and bacon bits, calamari, and cheese sticks.
I ordered the olympian pasta with steak. I was expecting some chunks of roasted red tomatoes and pieces of basil but it was just a cream sauce and lots of cheese. Something didnt taste good I didn’t finish.
But the other coworkers that got steak said it was delicious. It looked good.
If I had a choice to go to eat somewhere in henderson NC I would come back here first.
Only down side is no full bar…

This place has atmosphere. I came in the afternoon. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and she brought me a fried chicken sandwich. She took long to bring my ice tea also. But other than that, this place is ok.
