This was the first place we ate at on our trip here… The décor was amazing! The food was not great… The first waitress we had seemed to have no clue what she was doing. The food took forever… The only person that made this awful experience better was a sweet older lady by the name of Joi! She pointed out free places we could take our kids to, as well as other sites! Thank you Joi for your sweet and kind service! I give this sweet lady 5 stars, but Don’t hold your breath on dining here!

Cool atmosphere set up like a 60’s diner. Good food with great service. Dog friendly also so we will be back for sure.

Delicious Greek salad! Loved the atmosphere and topped it off with a mint choc chip shake. The service was good and attentive.

Stopped here on NY day for breakfast and it was excellent. This is a preserved soda shop full of antiques and memorabilia. Very, very clean with excellent staff in period uniforms. Coffee was perfect. Our breakfasts were excellent– sausage, eggs, has town, pancakes, home fries, gravy– all executed to perfection. Only complaint is that my husband’s biscuit with gravy was cold when served, but the rest of our party — three other plates — were perfect temperature. Very family friendly. I can’t say enough good things about this place — it is an absolute gem in Hendersonville. We are tourists, but I can tell you we all wished we had a place like this back home. It’s worth coming back to Hendersonville just to try this place again.

We love this place. Every time the family and I come to Hendersonville we have to make a stop here. Great food and atmosphere. I recommend it to everyone.

A fun experience Was in Hendersonville to pick apples, the people I was with had been there before, so went there to eat, my burger was very good, they said their veggie burger and patty melt were good. They have Pepsi AND Coke, very unusual, but good… they had retro uniforms, and a man in a pirate costume going from table to table doing magic tricks… a fun experience…

We were in Hendersonville for four days, hence 4 breakfasts. Mike’s is a step back into the past. Think soda fountains circa late 1950’s. Complete with music from the era. Okay, I set the ambiance. The food was delicious. You must try the breakfast potatoes. We will be back.

Mike’s on Main is definitely a blast from the past. Remember soda shops? Remember soda jerks? Not rude people making sodas, but soda fountain servers wearing crisp white uniforms and caps. All the staff were wearing throw back uniforms. There’s something very sexy about a poodle skirt, it leaves a lot to the imagination in a day and age when everyone wears yoga pants showing every nook and cranny. The lighting is a bit dim but it definitely suits the mood. Retro light up clocks humming and glowing. Display cases line one wall, containing pharmacy and soda shop memorabilia. The other side is the store length counter with functioning milkshake mixers, fountains and stools. There was an abbreviated breakfast menu today as the restaurant was filled with Apple Festival attendees. The special was a Ham Cheddar scramble with bacon, toast and home fries. Wow! The scramble was great and the home fries even better. Only $ 5.50! The biscuits and gravy were just okay, but the pancakes were another winner. Our waiter, Bo, kept the coffee and creamers coming. I was impressed that they were able to handle such a crowd with very little wait time. Maybe next time, I’ll just eat a banana split or malted sundae like the people next to us were. Hot fudge, the breakfast of champions!

Cool little nostalgic soda shop. We got here just before the lunch crowd arrived which was a good thing because while we were eating they line started to form. The booths and tables are small and its a tight fit, so a big party is really out of the question and wouldn’t be able to sit together. But on to the food. We were seated promptly and had the waiter come immediately to take our order. 3 of us ordered the Rueben and one ordered the Cheeseburger.(They do have a buffalo burger also.)The sandwiches come with a bag of Lays Chips, but we ordered a basket of fries and a onion ring. I do believe both are pre-made frozen, so nothing special there. But the Rueben had to be one of the best I EVER had. The meat was tender with no fat and the sourkraut was sweet and delicious. The bread was nicely grilled and it was big enough that we could only eat half. The burger was a freshly made hand patty with a nice charbroiled taste. Too full to have desert but they do serve Hershey’s Ice cream which is pretty darn good.

This is not a real soda shop… The only thing they do that resembles a soda shop is serve shakes and floats, and even then they are made with store bought ice cream, nothing«local». I bought a patty melt that was $ 9 and nothing special about it, didn’t even have any«special» sauce like patty melts are supposed to have. The wait staff is sub par, and were complaining the whole time I was eating. The place could use a good cleaning and probably new management. I was initially excited about moving to the area, and their being a soda shop downtown, however I will not be back! So sad, this place has potential!

This is a place in an historic building that isn’t trying to be anything it isn’t. The patty melt was very good with thick, crusty rye bread that held up to what can sometimes turn into a sloppy mess. The kids kept it simple with grilled cheese, cut into quarters, that they devoured. The chocolate malt was superb. Service was very attentive; location was great for a break from strolling Main Street Hendersonville.

Went in to get a few milk shakes and ice cream for the kids. Server gave us quite a bit of attitude basically demanding that she needed to know all milk shake orders up front and rolled her eyes when one of my kids, who had not ordered anything yet, asked if she could please have a chocolate milk shake. Was not a friendly experience and milk shakes were average at best. Lastly, having a bill slapped in front of you before you even get your food is just plain ridiculous. We’ll scratch this one off the list next time we visit Hendersonville — which is often. This place needs to learn that customer service is just as important as location.

Frozen food. Bland. Everything just sits there all day. I’ve not had anything that ever tastes fresh. The service is always bad. The only thing I have enjoyed here is the décor. This place could be so much more with great leadership. Great location. You can tell something is wrong when the place is empty except for Apple Festival.

There for late lunch yesterday… food was good … Place was not busy… took waitress quite a long time to take our order. her excuse was she thought it was in already… we intended to have ice cream for dessert but some loud mouth male employee made snide remarks when the waitress asked my daughter if she was ready for the check and she said no we are not through yet. He yelled across the shop«she’s not ready for her check… Nobody ever wants their check…» Then went back in the kitchen and yelled it again so all the customers could hear! We asked for the check, paid and left… Will not go back…

The food is amazing, the staff has always been super nice, and the atmosphere is adorable for a nice lunch. This is a go to place when friends from out of town visit. If you are a veggie burger fan, definitely get it. It is one of the best I’ve ever had. My friend also raves about the beefalo burger.

Great place right in the middle of downtown Hendersonville. Delicious food, perfectly cooked bacon for the first time in two years! Service was fantastic. They got us coffee(which they grind themselves from beans) when they weren’t even officially open. Service was great and hospitable to say the least. I don’t understand the 3 star rating at all. With the reasonable prices this is a 5 star place for sure. And they are open on Sunday which is handy for Green River adventures and zip lines. You will not be disappointed.

Very little has been changed in this must see old-school soda fountain and apothecary, from the tin ceilings and bar to the booths. Very cool place that serves great sandwiches and fries! Good to go!

Pretty much exactly what you’d expect for a southern style diner. Very homestyle and simple. I got a grilled cheese and loved it.
