We had been wanting to go to Ray’s for a while, but it was a hit or miss if they were open. Tonight we were able to catch it open. The bisque was good, boiled shrimp was good, but the crab cake was great. Ray is very nice and polite, food was brought in a timely manner. Looks like his has entertainment there at times. We would go back.

Call ahead if you are driving out of your way to eat here. Both last week and this week they were closed for catering when I came by. I tried Jumbo and Delicious next door they lived up to the hype. Hope that Rays will be open next time!

I had never heard of Ray’s Crabcake Factory until I read a lot of people raving about it on Hip Hendersonville. So, I checked the reviews on Unilocal and decided it was worth a try. Ray is a great guy, very friendly, and very concerned about his customers. He started telling us about all the new items that he was adding to the menu, but we told him not to bother, because we were there for the crabcakes. And they were amazing! He serves them on a bun that is nowhere near big enough to handle all the flavor from the crabcakes. I highly recommend having a fork as stand-by. It was a fun and tasty experience. Ray even took our pictures before we left. We will be going back, unless he starts a delivery service.

Walked in on a Friday night. There were only 2 out of about 7 small tables occupied. And there is a small stage. There are pictures, posters, and banners everywhere. One said live music Thursday and Friday but there was none tonight. On to the food… Crab cakes were wonderful. Lots of big chunks of real crabmeat. Even the slaw was good. Crab dip was just okay. Nothing to be excited about. The special tonight was a steamer pot. The shrimps were good but the clams were small. Appeared to be overcooked, they just shrunk in their big shells. There also big wedges of potatoes and sweet corn on the cob. Oh… and kielbasa. You get your canned or bottle drinks from a small refrigerator. Cons: Pricey. Crab cakes, steamer pot, crab dip and 2 drinks were $ 55. Menu is limited and no kids menu. There is a chalkboard that listed grilled cheese and PB&J sandwiches but we’re not available. I had to walk to a neighboring restaurant to get chicken tenders and fries. Owner was really friendly. Even took a picture of my family for the Facebook page. Only wish that they add a kids menu, expand their menu… more shrimp and crab dishes. Or add a fish dish. Something filled or broiled. How about some crabs in the steamer pot.

Before Ray’s, I was never much of a crabcake fan… mainly because all I ever had before was the breaded & fried, it-comes-with-the-seafood-platter variety. You know the kind… edible, but mostly«meh». So when I heard so many people singing Ray’s praises, I was wondering what all the hubbub was about But after trying Ray’s… oh. my…goodness! This is crabcake bliss! No fillers, no breading, and broiled to perfection! And add to that Ray’s personality & hospitality, and you end up with a gem hidden away in an ancient strip center. As the name of the business would suggest, the crabcake is his signature product, but the menu offers a variety of other options. The crab dip is fabulous(if maybe a tad salty for some folks), both the bisque and the Maryland crab soup are outstanding, and even the jerk chicken was great
