Nice ladies at the front counter but I found the cupcakes to be kind of dry. The icing was good. The vanilla seemed a little moister than the chocolate. To be fair, I used a Groupon and they picked out an assortment for me. Maybe if I had one of their more«boutique» flavored varieties, it would have tasted better. I think I had in my mind that they would be BIG cupcakes — they’re just regular sized and I don’t think I would pay full price. Two things were a bit on the negative side: bad location – sketchy neighborhood(though their store was quite cute) and their hours are Wed thru Friday from 11:00 to 5:30. Bad hours for working people.

This place is not in the best neighborhood and as the previous reviewer said, it’s easy to get lost. I love cupcakes and have tried at least 5 other cupcakeries in the Richmond area. Slice of Grace’s cupcakes are good but I would say they are more homemade than gourmet and not as rich as other places. The person that was working at the time was very sweet so I’d say the service was great. I tried it because I had a groupon but I wouldn’t come back if I didn’t have a deal.

Slice of Grace offers delicious cupcakes in a variety of flavors from«Mint to Be»(a chocolate cake, mint icing, and topped with an Andes mint) to «Is that Red Velvet»(your standard red velvet with an AMAZING cream cheese frosting). One of the signature cupcakes is «My Birthday Rocks Cake», which is a tantalizing choice in presentation alone. It’s a vanilla cake with confetti sprinkles, topped with butter cream frosting and a straw filled with Pop Rocks! That’s right, the candy you loved as a kid because the rocks exploded in your mouth. The nitty gritty: It’s easy to miss the bakery if you’ve never been there; it’s right next to a tattoo parlor in a small shopping area off of Brook Rd. Retail hours are a bit limited, as the bakery is only open for walk-ins Wed-Fri 11am-6pm. Cupcakes are $ 2.75 each and the bakery also offers custom cakes and catering at a variety of prices. I typically favor frosting over cake, but at Slice of Grace I love it all! The cupcakes are moist, the frosting is thick and creamy, and the owner/baker Michelle is extremely friendly!
