I had such high expectations for this place after reading nothing but 4&5 star reviews. The atmosphere was nice. Service & the food… Not so much. They offer a pretty decent sized menu. But all the rolls on it are very similar to each other. My boyfriend got the Tempura Washington roll which was a 9⁄10! Very good. I got the sashimi salmon, which was just okay. Pretty bland to me. We also ordered a salmon roll off the 40% section of the menu. It came with the Washington roll & it was 2 pieces of sashimi over rice. I was expecting 4 small rolls of salmon & rice. Next, the service. Okay, it was a Friday night & they were busy. Totally understandable. We had 3 different people come up & ask us if we were ready. Throughout the night we didn’t have a steady server. Not once were our water glasses refilled. Maybe they were short staffed & everyone was doing everyone’s job. Service was just very slow & below mediocre. Overall, I have to give this place a 3 star review due to the poor service & just okay food.

We order a bunch of different rolls and a few orders of sashimi. Prob only one of the rolls we got was actually good– they were kind mushy. Salmon sashimi was decent but I don’t think it was that fresh(we did come in pretty late though). Tuna sashimi was nothing special either. Décor was nice and service was good. If I remember correctly, they had pics of their food and that is always helpful.

I’ve been looking for an affordable sushi place in hermosa that’s really fresh and I finally found it!!! Came here for lunch on a Sunday so there wasn’t a wait at all. The inside is way nicer than the view from the street. The sushi isn’t overly priced and is great portions plus it’s delicious! My cousin and I ordered the spicy manhattan beach roll, the California grand roll, and the Philadelphia roll. It was amazing! The waitress checked on us but wasn’t overbearing which was nice. At the end we each got a macaroon ice cream sandwich – vanilla and strawberry flavored. They were the perfect small size of sweetness to top us off! I’ll definitely come back soon!

It’s one the few air-conditioned restaurants in Hermosa Beach. It was over 90 degrees and we really didn’t want to go into a mom and pop restaurant with two loud fans. We ordered the baked mussels, sashimi salad and Hawaiian roll. The sashimi salad was large with surprising amount of sashimi. Everything was fresh. The service was attentive.

The service has really gone down hill here. As a regular(2x month) sitting at the sushi bar, I have seen this place decline. I ordered the sushi on special, they were out. I ordered uni, they said that they were out. Sushi guy then makes an order 10 mins later. The couple next to us got generous cuts for their sushi and I got extra thin ones. The sushi guy was not at all friendly. Most sushi chefs show off their talents and prepare something special for sushi bar patrons. Not here! I split my sushi visits between Rox Sushi and Miyida and Fusion. With lots of options for sushi I will be going elsewhere. This place is also sub-par to Fusion in Manhattan.(Different ownership)

Great rolls if you’re craving it around the Manhattan beach area. This place isn’t my favorite place but they’re serving pretty tasty food.

I came here with a group for a birthday celebration. I ordered the chicken teriyaki($ 12.99) and my friends ordered sushi rolls. My entrée came with miso soup, which was perfectly fine, but they brought my food out right after they served me my soup. And this was all before anyone got their sushi rolls. My food got pretty cold by the time everyone was served, so that’s why I’m not giving this place more stars. I did like my chicken teriyaki, though. The chicken was not over-sauced and the ginger dressing on the salad was really good. As for the sushi, I tried the spicy tuna tempura roll and the aloha roll. The spicy tuna tempura roll has fried spicy tuna, crab and avocado. I love tempura, so I was a fan of this roll. I also tried the aloha roll, which had mango, avocado and a dijon mustard sauce. I didn’t like this one as much, because of the dijon mustard. One piece was fine, but I wouldn’t want to eat an entire roll of it. I’d try this place again but would probably either order sushi or ask the server to bring out my food with the rest of the sushi. I would also recommend coming here for lunch, because the entrees are $ 3 – 4 cheaper at lunch.

I went for a friend’s birthday and was seated in the back room that has more of a club feel than a sushi restaurant feel. They play club jams so loudly it’s hard to talk with friends without shouting. However, the front room is more of a restaurant and is probably better if you’re just going on a date or with a few friends. The back room turns into a karaōke room later at night which is a ton of fun. Backstreet boys, anyone? The sushi was mediocre – we ordered a sushi boat and I couldn’t really distinguish the flavors of each roll/they weren’t mind blowing. I think I would have to go back again and order a la carte rolls to have a better idea of the quality and taste. Prices were what’s expected for sushi. EDIT: wrong fusion sushi! I’m referring to the Manhattan Beach one please disregard!

I remember feeling super excited about coming here back in the days. This location is not as fun as the one in Manhattan Beach, however the menu is the same. Their combo lunch menu is pretty good. I like the Udon Soup but then again it was average. The service was okay. The parking lot is shared with other businesses in the plaza and it’s tight. But there are plenty of parking in the back upstairs.
