NOOOOO, are they closed? No website anymore, no answer at either of the two phone numbers? Argh! I knew they were too good to be true. :( I will drive by there sometime soon & update when I know. ETA: I haven’t seen it myself but another Unilocaler said that the doors are locked & all the signage/placards for Aangan has been removed. To repeat: NOOOOO! If anyone hears of the chef from Aangan popping up anywhere else, let me know. That was some of the *best* Indian food I’d ever had.

Went this afternoon with wife for lunch buffet. The place was almost empty. We were seated immediately. We didn’t wait for a minute and got right to business. They had a pretty good selection. There were 3 sections: 1) Appetizers 2) Main buffet area 3) Drinks(yes, they have mango Lassi and salted Lassi!!!) Lets get to the goods and the bads(oh yea, there are always bads, Buhaahhaa!) Great/Good: Cocktail pattie(Ragda Patties, very similar to the one they sell in Mumbai!) Dahi Vada White jira rice: Really tasty Gobi Vegetable: Very well seasoned and perfectly cooked Paneer curry: Very soft Paneer with great curry Chicken curry: One of the best I’ve ever had! Lassi: Had Lassi after a long time. It was delicious! Rice Pudding: It has a right amount of sugar and perfectly cooked. Good job! Awful/Bad: Vegetable Pakora: Stale? Samosa: Too oily with very little to no filling Chilli Chicken: Too dry Butter Chicken: Most Indian restaurants get this one right. I’m not sure whats the deal here but the chicken pieces were too BIG and a little on the dry side(they use the same curry as Paneer curry so I liked that) Goat Curry: The meat was definitely tender but the curry was awful. It had no flavor. Overall, I liked 50% of the items. There were ~4 TVs with really loud Indian songs. IMHO, they should keep the music a little low so that people who aren’t interested in the music can have a conversation :) Will I go back??? That’s a question that only time will tell. But for the new few months, the answer is NO!

****3.5 Stars**** My husband and I love Indian food and have yet to find a place close to home that’s worth going to; we love Royal Jaipur, but sometimes, we just don’t feel like driving there. On our first visit, we tried the samosas, chicken seekh kebab, and the chicken tikka masala. The samosas were a bit oily and you could tell by the mini puddle left on the plate. They were crunchy and didn’t have the taste or feel of oily-ness. It went well with the spicy green/cilantro sauce mixed with raita. Both chicken dishes were very tender, but there weren’t too many pieces of chicken in the tikka masala. We asked for medium spiciness, but the food came mild. No biggie, I suppose the raita would have countered the spice. The sauce of the seekh kebab was the right amount of savory and was great to mix it all with the rice or naan. Sidenote, the naan is $ 2.50 per piece. The service was good, we didn’t really have to wait for anything or wave anyone down. I’m glad we finally tried Aangan, I’m interested in having their buffet and would likely order take-out or dine-in again.

Ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan for dinner(take out) — both were fresh and delicious. Customer service was excellent, and they threw in a complimentary dessert. I’ll be back soon!

Great experience overall! The service was outstanding, very attentive, helpful, and friendly. Nice extra touches included, making it a special experience. We enjoyed a couple of appetizers, the somosas and the fried baby spinach, both wonderful! Our entrees were flavorful and had large portion sizes. The breads were all fresh and tasty. Dinner was finished with a complimentary hot tea service which was a lovely and much appreciated touch! Don’t miss out on this little gem!

The food was very good — light and well spiced as well as properly cooked. The atmosphere was pleasant and service was excellent. Better than many others in Herndon

This is probably my favorite Indian Restaurants in the area right now. The food is well prepared. The ambiance is overloaded with TVs playing endless bollywood videos, yet has a cozy, intimate feel as well. It has a great vibe to it. My wife, who has long been indifferent to Indian food, is a total fan of this place. We first went here fairly randomly for the buffet. We loved the chili-chicken dish on offer. It’s not like anything I’ve ever had any other Indian place. Imagine buffalo wings crossed with Indian food. It might sound crazy, but we thought it was crazy good! There was also a complete dosa station at the buffet which looked outstanding. We didn’t see any lamb or goat at the buffet, only chicken and vegetarian. We have also been there for dinner a few times. The chili-chicken is not on their main menu, but the chef accommodated something similar for my wife. There were lamb dishes on offer in the evening. We had a fried fish appetizer that was absolutely amazing. The condiments with the papadum were also fabulous. I’ve never eaten so much papadum at a restaurant. We also had some dals that were very good. I hope this place stays in business because it has a great combination of ambiance and great execution of dishes. You will find favorites but also new things to try. The staff is very friendly and engaging as well. They definitely will not rush you out, meaning you will have to ask for your check. I believe on Friday evenings after 10 or so, they have a DJ an dancing.

Amazing vegan, gluten free & vegetarian options with terrific service. The atmosphere is similar to a DC restaurant. I had a vegan saag with cauliflower and chickpeas that was so incredibly delicious and healthy(health coach approved!). Definitely give this place a try soon!

The service was friendly, but I was a bit disappointed they didn’t serve mango lassi for lunch buffet because that is what made me actually excited to come. The lunch buffet had a decent selection, I liked that it had different crispy appetizers as well as curries and meat dishes. That was different from some lunch buffets I’ve been to. The only qualm I have is that the rice was very unpleasant to eat. It was definitely«buffet rice»; very hard and undercooked. That was a bummer. The plus was that they serve bread with the buffet, which was absolutely delicious. I would come back for the bread dipped in butter chicken. I do suggest they improve the rice on the lunch buffet; that would bump up the review rating!

We’ve been to Aangan several times on different occasions — for dinner, buffet as well as take out and I have been constantly pleased by the quality of food and service. They have been consistent since they opened and that’s refreshing for this area. I haven’t been to an Indian restaurant in NoVa where the service was so impeccable. This is what keeps us coming back. As far as food goes — Love everything! Their appetizers are to die for, my personal favorite is khata metha palak chaat. I tried their samosas, kathi roll and aloo tikki at buffet and they were all very authentic and just Yum! Main course — you have to try the shaamsavera kofta, it is very unique and tasty. Also — they have a karoake/DJ every weekend night — which is just awesome. Must try Indian restaurant in this area, the quality and service far surpasses any other indian restaurant near by! You will not be disappointed.

3.5 stars We went for a lunch buffet. Service: the server didn’t come to our table much. He filled up our water once and took our plates. Good: butter chicken, vegetable manchurian, chili chicken(beware: very spicy), channa Okay: dessert(too much mango), rice(hard, dried out) Overall, not bad. Not someplace I’d come again and again, but I wouldn’t scratch it off my list, either. They played VERY old music…

I went there for buffet. They have lot of items but none of them stands out. Other than tandoori chicken, everything else was very bland. There was so much water in Chicken curry that it diluted the taste. The chilly chicken was no way near chilli chicken. The egg coating was missing on chilli chicken it was just chicken fried with onions and spices. Deserts were not great. They had mango kheer which was neither mango moose nor kheer. Ambiance is OK. Servers and hosts were nice.

Really great food. Everything I had was superb. The ambiance was great, and the service was fantastic. I had the butter chicken and we shared the mango wings, samosas, and another appetizer with chickpeas, potatoes and fried spinach(I would go back just for this app). There are so many Indian restaurants in this area, for me, this is definitely one of the top ones.

Dropped in for a solo dinner as I have been working in the area. Simply fantastic. I ordered onion yakni soup and butter chicken with fresh naan. Everything was prepared just right. Portion sizes were generous. Excellent balance of flavors and the staff were attentive and pleasant. No complaints or reservations whatsoever about recommending this restaurant to anyone. I will certainly be returning.

Visited for the first time tonight for dinner. It was delightful. The service and food exceeded our expectations. The owner was welcoming and warm and VERY passionate about the restaurant’s concept: upscale/metro contemporary Indian cuisine. Yes, they’ve got a lunch buffet, but they’re doing things at dinner that make them stand apart from the(many) other Indian haunts in town. Tried the calamari 65 appetizer – a great start. Then the scallops. Oh my! My scallops were large, sweet, and perfectly complemented by the strong Indian flavors I know and love. The lamb rogan josh was soo good. Tender delicate lamb, but not falling apart. Really perfectly done. Garlic naan was fresh; gulab jamoon was melt in your mouth good; my husbands mango lassi was NOT that overly sweet stuff you get most places. Live music even started as we were heading out, thoroughly satisfied, and already talking about who we were going to invite to go back with us next time!

Went here tonight for the first time, and will definitely be back. A new favorite! The ambiance is very welcoming and warm. The décor is lovely and the lighting is soothing and makes it a great place for a date night. The service is SUPERB. All of the servers are very attentive and we were personally greeted by the owner. The live music was wonderful and created a truly wonderful atmosphere. The food is also excellent. The complimentary papadum and dipping sauces were very yummy. For an appetizer, we tried samosas, which my husband will probably be craving for the next month– they were GREAT. We had chicken tikka masala, and it really is the best around. My husband usually doesn’t like rice, but he devoured his basmati rice; it really is that good. We had some naan with our meal, and that was also top-notch. They served us some complimentary tea after our meal, the perfect end to a perfect night out. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It is one of the best restaurants in the area by far.

Wow!!! What wonderful atmosphere and high hospitality sevice received :) The food both veg/non veg are consistently excellent. I can’t stop saying enough wonderful things about aangan. The atmosphere is so warm and pleasant. On weekends they have live music which is mind blowing. The staff is always kind. This was my first time here and i loved it. The restaurant is very clean. The ambiance is soothing. The restaurant smell amazing with all the spices and the décor makes it really inviting. The food has great flavor and spices. They can even accommodate to your needs which is nice. I recommend this to everyone looking for a good indian food. The food here is so good it was really hard not to make that«mmm mmm» sound while I ate. The complementary papadum and dipping sauces were all wonderful. I loved how the menu had regional indian specialties on it. You don’t see that often. One of the best restaurant I’ve been to. Would definitely go back.
