These folks are great! Two transfers without any issues at all. They are not pushy nor do they try and sell you something you don’t want or need. They listen to their customers and make solid suggestions and recommendations based on the customers desire. Can’t say enough great things about this shop. Will always be my first «go-​to» shop as long as I live in the area.

Dropped in just to check it out. Ended up making a few purchases. Neat little store and very cool/​knowledgeable employees. Prices were reasonable and they were willing to work with you. Sam is a cool guy, very patient with all my questions and even helped me with an install. Definitely will recommend to a friend and will be returning back for all my gun needs.

Staff was knowledgeable and kind. Its a small shop but the customer service is outstanding. They have plenty of AR15 parts and accessories. I would shop here again.

I was very impressed with this gun shop. Although it is not very big, the shop seems to have a good inventory. The staff is friendly, and made no attempt to «up-​sell» me when I made my purchase. Since I came in knowing exactly what I wanted and was willing to pay, I appreciated not having to fend off sales pitches for things I didn’t need or want. I would recommend Nova to anyone who’s looking for a good gun shop with low-​key, but helpful and knowledgeable staff.

For my BF & I being first time buyers, it was a great experience. Staff was very helpful & informative. We will definitely be back when we want a new toy.

Would have to say this is my go to place for FFL transfers. I have used a couple FFLs in the past years, and none of them are as fast and responsive as Nova Armament. I purchased a old Colt Agent online from Gunbroker. And then filled out the online form that Nova Armament has on their site. After the form was completed, they send you an automatic verification.
After playing the waiting game for the guy, he finally shipped it. I went to the shop for the first time. It was a small shop in some street in old townish Herndon. It was a little tough to find this place and parking was in the back.
I walked into the store, and it was small. Pretty small with a limited selection of firearms and ammunition. Not really a problem since from the look of it, it seemed as if they had the favored type of firearms sitting around, which was good. The employees were quick. Quick is good if you just wanted an in and out.
Overall, they got my name, and two IDs, and started going through my stuff. After a couple minutes, I got my firearm and paid their transfer fee. Their fee is competitive. I don’t know what people are bad mouthing about it, but they are competitive from their location.
Also, a small comment on their layout and work place, it seems very relaxed. There were people just hanging around the store, talking guns during my transaction. Also, a Starship Troopers was playing on the TV. Now, I love that movie, so I will give them the extra star because of that.
I would honestly have to recommend this place to people who are doing transfers, and first time shooters. Although I didn’t purchase a firearm here, they are moderately priced to sell. Of course online prices will be better, but always remember that you have to pay the transfer fee and shipping.

Special ordered and purchased a new rifle. All the money must be provided up front for special orders (good-​to-​know in advance). After two years of careful research, I was very sure what I wanted so I cannot judge their people skills or salesmanship. Straightforward transaction with no drama. Who could ask for anything more? Price were reasonable as in the same as every other gun shop in the DC Metro area.

I went into Nova Armament last night (¹¹⁄₂₁) so they could get my rear sights pushed all the way in on my duty firearm, they not only did it for me but, they did it at no charge to me. I greatly appreciated the small favor that they did for me. I’ve been to them in the past for ammo which they always seemed to have in stock when I needed it but, I will most certainly continue to do business with them and their knowledgeable staff.

I’m a novice when it comes to firearms and all things gun related and I needed a place that would be able to service my father’s M14/​M1a. I found this place on Unilocal and decided to check it out.
In short, this place is great!
I talked to Henry (shoot, I think it was Henry — don’t quite remember) over the phone before coming in and he quoted me the cost and time he would be there to service the rifle.
I came in the following day I mentioned that I needed to service the rifle and Henry, remembering the phone call, step up and helped me out. He looked over the rifle, even went ahead to explain what he would do and how he would do it before taking it to the backroom to work on it.
As I was waiting I got a chance to talk to the rest of the employees, all of which were very friendly, knowledgeable, and downright passionate about guns. As I looked at the guns, located behind a locked glass case, I would ask questions about gun types, comparisons, price, etc., and they answered each question patiently and with confidence.
In about 10 – 15 minutes, Henry came back with my rifle, explained to me what he did, also informing me of the uniqueness of the piece and how to further take care of it. Again, it was his passion for weaponry that really impressed me because it showed through his work and his explanations. It was great!
From a logistical side, they sell a good range of hand guns — I didn’t see any rifles or shotguns. They do sell ammo, accessories, holsters, cleaning tools for all types of weapons though, but again, more so for handguns. They can also do custom orders for you if you have a specific «something» you want or need to get for your firearm. Just call ahead or ask when you get there and they will (double check on this) install it for you for a small fee.
So, if you are looking for a simple gun shop to get some work done, buy a firearm, or order something, and want great customer care, check this place out. It’s great a great place for new gun owners to get their feet wet in the world of firearms.

Bunch of knowledgeable and down to earth guys. Helped me out with my AR15 build and gave some good advice. The lower kit i bought from elsewhere was missing some parts. They gave them to me for FREE, Even hooked me up with a few discounts for buying multiple items. Will definitely be back around.

Just bought my first gun from Nova Armament and can’t speak more highly about the staff and the service I received. I specifically chose Nova rather than going to the shop at one of the ranges which are closer to me because I wanted a less hectic, more personal service. TJ, Zac and Sam were all extremely helpful in guiding me through the process which spanned a couple of days due to the pre-​requisites I needed as a non-​resident alien. Felt very comfortable and re-​assured throughout the whole experience. Would recommend this place to anyone buying their first firearm.

Love this place, they are honest and friendly people. No sales pressure and great advice. I have purchased a few firearms from them as well as a consignment. All transaction were smooth and no strings attached. Pricing is close to MSRP but when you get good service I have no problem paying and helping a local business. Won’t be the last time I deal with them as I still need to add to my collection.

I can (sort of) understand $ 42 for a Transfer if there’s the hassle of receiving a shipment etc. But mine was face to face with buyer and seller present. Easy peasy and I would have appreciated some small discount. Still, not a huge deal I guess.
Then the clerk handed me the wrong caliber of ammo and I walked out the door. Understandable that they can’t exchange or return because it’s against the law, but that’s another $ 30 down the drain for me. I’ve never had to double-​check the box before so I suppose I’m an idiot for not doing so this time.
Neither of these in and of themselves are deal-​breakers but they both together caused me not only to NOT have the great experience I was expecting but also not even a mediocre one that you’d expect from any store.

would recommend coming here if you are a female or buying your first firearm. They are nice, answer all your questions, and friendly. there is no pressure sales, and they go over different pistol options, depending on what you are looking for in a weapon.
we were interested in a small concealed carry pistol. I ended up purchasing a glock 26 gen 4 (ie, baby glock). purchase was very easy, took a few minutes for them to do the background check, and I walked out the door with my new sidearm.
I docked them just one star, because although I though their price for the pistol was reasonable, I felt the prices for the ammo was slightly overpriced. I paid $ 22 for pack of fifty 9 MM bullets. went to Walmart the week after, and found fifty 9 MM ammo for $ 11.

My husband and I first came here based on some recommendations from a few friends. We have continued to come here because the staff is knowledgeable and friendly and leave any snobbery, which is often found in the gun culture, behind. As a woman I felt I was treated with as much respect as anyone else in the shop and they didn’t talk down to me, or try to sell me pink accessories without me asking.
I highly recommend coming here for any of your firearm needs.

Husband came in here because of the good reviews and was impressed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Found a couple items he’d been looking for with their help, and was cheerfully allowed to play around with a number of guns in the shop behind glass.

Updating inventory on website in more «real time,» and listing actual retail pricing would be helpful.

I visited Nova Armament a few weeks ago just to check out their inventory and ask some questions. I’ve been considering buying a Glock, and I just wanted to see about some of the different sizes, how they fit in my hands, etc.
The staff seemed fairly knowledgeable and eager to help. The store was pretty crowded for the size (quite small). Their inventory wasn’t bad. They had most of the Glock sizes I wanted to look at, as well as a fairly good pistol selection of other brands and rifle/​shotgun selection.
I wasn’t super excited about the prices. They weren’t horrible, but they weren’t great. It is hard to find a small gun shop that has low prices though. I know they have to make a living, and rent isn’t cheap around here.
If you’ve never purchased a gun, and you’re looking for a place to start, Nova Armament is a great place to go. They will answer your questions and «shoot» you in the right direction.

If you’ve been in many gun shops you know that the differences can be measured in miles. You can have the mall ninja types constantly muzzle sweeping you, you can have the old guys that talk down about anything they don’t personally like and you can have the helpful knowledgeable guys and gals that tell it like it is.

Every employee I’ve chatted with and asked questions has been polite and knowledgeable. There are never any complaints even if you handle everything in the store. They are very willing and able to instruct you in the differences of the products they sell.
They have a pretty decent website and you can fill out an online transfer form if you get something out of state.
Like some others have said, the prices are not the best. However I like to believe that good service is worth paying for.
They have upped their FFL transfer fee’s a few months ago and the buy 5 get a free transfer deal is now dead. The VCDL discount also has not applied to all of my purchases, so ask before you take the plunge.
