Alas, my review is too late. This spa is now closed.

I’ve gone by here several times after work over the past few weeks but the place has been closed. I went by today during the day and it appears that the place is closed permanently — the front desk is gone and there are ladders inside.

I usually go to Nail Design up the street near K-Mart. I just started working across the street from this«Day Spa». Let’s start at the beginning. I walked in & had to ask if they were open because 2 men were up front chit-chatting in Vietnamese. I should have RUN when I noticed no customers there but I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. Next, I asked what services they provided & though they were very basic I thought, okay, I can get just a simple color change & fill. They struggled removing my gel over polish acrylic nail colors & had me soak in Acetone only. So eventually after the 2nd gentleman came over I suggested a dremel/sander. That worked. LOL It was like a bad Abbott & Costello routine. The guy who started was wearing what looked like a car mechanic’s uniform. Next, a young gentleman walked in & started using grooming equipment on his own hair, although he was very pleasant… all I could think of was«Is this a self-help» Spa?! There was nobody there, but me, for the first half hour & the two«staffers». Eventually we got to the point where they could do my nails, the guy spoke to me less than 4 words before we were done. I had to walk back in because I accidentally didn’t get the clear coat, wanting to leave rapidly… so I had to get a nail re-done. That, they did quickly… so I let them dry & then left again. I had to remind them not once, not twice but three times to clean their tools and/or to use a new file, equipment, etc… it was still dirty from the last customers & I saw no UV cleaning boxes or anything. Bottom line is DONOTGOTHERE. No MANI/PEDI/HAIR! I will return to my usual place even though I was hoping that due to the location this would work for me. Trust me, 1 star is generous… I only gave that because they may earn 2 one day.

I literally had the worst manicure of my life today. First of all they made me do the manicure while sitting in the pedicure chair… mind you I wasn’t getting a pedicure. She didn’t soak my nails at all so when she was trimming up around my cuticles and nails it was so painful because I hadn’t soaked my hands. She did the absolute worst paint job I’ve ever seen. Then when I tried to pay she ignored me for a few minutes and then finally told me that someone else could help me so I had to go interrupt someone else getting a manicure to ask the guy if he could help me out. Looking at my hands after I left you can’t even tell I got a manicure — its that bad. I work right down the street from this place and can actually walk to it but I will never set foot in there again.

scheduled to get mani/pedi’s with my mom when they first open. We showup and they take 30 minutes to serve us despite the fact that the salon is empty. this was for my WEDDING so i went all out and got gel tips and the spa pedicure. spa pedicure was MEH — ive had a lot better. the gel tips i though were great but now three weeks later i can’t get them off. they took even longer to do my mom and rushed her manicure — they didn’t even cover the whole nail! also i scheduled with them another appointment for my little sister the day of my wedding to give her a mani pedi — this was early in the morning but when she showed up, NOONE was there. like, they did not open. we had to rush to find her another place to get her nails done. never. ever. going to this place again.

Got a pedicure and manicure last week; the woman doing my pedicure was talking on her bluetooth the entire time — so loudly she either did not hear me, or ignored me, when I told her she was hurting me. She over-cut my cuticles until they bled and didn’t acknowledge my multiple attempts to stop her. Manicure didn’t last. I won’t be going back.

I like this place. It’s modern, with nice lighting and a few flat screen tvs strategically mounted around the walls. There’s never been a wait when I’ve popped in during lunchtime. They use OPI polish instead of the cheap stuff, which I appreciate — plus they carry a wide variety of colors, from your standard rainbow of pinks & reds to more seasonal colors like purples, greens, blues, etc. And really, you can’t beat the convenience of getting your grocery shopping, nails, and Starbucks taken care of without having to move your car. As an aside, when I stopped in today there was a guy in there getting his hair cut, so they may be marketing themselves as a full-service salon, which is nice. I’m subtracting one star because my pedicure was $ 31 and I thought that was really overpriced. I tried to ask the guy about it when I was paying but there were some language issues and he didn’t seem to understand my question, which was frustrating. I’m guessing they gave me some kind of deluxe pedicure, but they never asked if that’s what I wanted and since I was in a rush on my lunchbreak, I certainly would have preferred the more basic service. Still, they do good work and it’s convenient and clean, so I’ll be back. If you go, just make sure you’re very specific about what you want so you’re not overcharged.

I went for a $ 35 manicure/pedicure. First the receptionist put me in a chair with scalding hot water, then I sat with my feet in water for 15 minutes waiting for the next available manicurist. I would have rather just have sat and waited instead of getting my feet all pruney. This was the slowest manicure/pedicure I have ever received. It took almost 2 hours to finish. And in the end I could have done a better job myself. My cuticles are still all bumpy and the polish is already chipping, I had nail polish left on my skin and overall I am not happy. Overall I would say they did a far too sloppy job for something that took this long. I’ve had better, faster and cheaper mani/pedis elsewhere.

I am a creature motivated by few things, bacon — is one such item. Convenience — the other. UA Day Spa is located a mere hop, skip, and a jump away from my new office in Herndon, so post-work I decided to check it out. I love the results of a mani/pedi, but I find it hard to sit still for the required amount of time. By the end of my manicure, I am usually bouncing in my seat, bored out of my mind. What I enjoyed most about UA Day Spa was that I didn’t really lapse into that«ZOMGREADYTOGO» mindset. The pace was efficient, but didn’t feel rushed or sloppy. The prices were pretty standard $ 35(w/o tip) for a mani/pedi. I’ll probably keep exploring the area for new nail spots, but this experience was a great start.

This place is buried inside Woodland Shopping Center. They have a promotion right now for 30% off. Got my nails did for just $ 16 at regular price and it has lasted a little over a week — not bad!
