Once again, an amazing dining experience at Hershey lodge, we were there for a handful of days and had great meal after great meal… The waiter was attentive and kind and when asked about a specific item on the menu he was able to answer my questions and steered me toward the seafood special rather than my initial choice and it was great. We ordered the burrata as an app and it was not the normal way I’ve seen it presented. It was just alright, the Brussel sprout leaves were toasted and nice, I usually prefer tomatoes with it though, almost like a stepped up caprese.

Went here for a nice romantic dinner during our weekend in Hershey and I have nothing but great things to save about the service and food! Excellent bartending service, I had a Manhattan and my girlfriend had a Kentucky Mule(which always impresses me when a bartender doesn’t ask what it is). The staff was not obnoxious and overly bothersome during the meal, we always had water and they were extremely accommodating. We had the steamed mussels to start, excellent white wine sauce and they even brought us some extra bread to dip in the sauce after. I had the Maple Brined Game Hen which fell off the bone and came with amazing flavored mushrooms and carrots. My girlfriend had the 5oz Filet which was cooked to perfection and well accompanied. Rounding off our meal we went with a Forebay Coffee to share which was a unique drink that really tasted well blended and Molten Chocolate Cake always delicious. We will 100% be returning even if we’re just passing by the lodge!

A decent meal ruined by poor and slow service. Here in Hershey on vacation with my family and made reservations for dinner at Forebay. We were met with a very haughty host/server named Katie(thankfully she wasn’t our server for the evening. We had a fairly pleasant person wait on us – Jim). As we waited for our check to be cashed out, our server was the only person with remaining tables and was very busy. We waited 20minutes before Katie showed up again, and I asked her if she could handle our check. She was so rude and unhelpful. Left a horrible taste in my mouth after an otherwise decent meal. Good food; terrible service.

Stayed at hershey lodge at the end of the summer. We went to the bear den the first night in the lodge for some bar food. Then ended up at The Forebay the next night, and then every night after that. The food was nothing short of amazing. The mussels appetizers was to die for. Also got the chocolate shrimp which was so delicious and the steak dish. So so good. Cant wait to dine there again. Little pricey yes, but the servers, management was amazing, so friendly and attentive. The food was prepared perfectly. I would give this more than 5 stars if i could.

Stayed at the Hershey Lodge for 3 days for business. Went for dinner with seven colleagues and really enjoyed the dining experience. We had appetizers, wedge salads, and the entrees ranged from the pork chop(excellent choice), pork shank(tender fall off the bone), fish of the day(mahi) and the filet(5 oz is too small). Service was nice but we were there for 2.5 hours so it was a tad slow. All and all I can recommend it for a nice dinner with a date or friends.

We stayed in Hershey for the car show and in the Lodge was this restaurant. We went with 3 other couples. We were shocked how good it was. Never expected this in Hershey pa. It was a fir for a large city like Philly. The service was excellent too. Steaks were done to perfection. Desserts were off the chart. We highly recommend the Forbay in the Hershey Lodge

Not impressed! Food was average(at best), the service was better than the food(but only slightly) and the restrooms are not in the restaurant, but quite a walk through the lobby(and they were filthy!). The restaurant is worth passing on unless you are so hungry that you’d eat cardboard.

My husband and I had a very lovely dinner here while staying in the Hershey Lodge. We started off with the chocolate martini, which was absolutely delicious! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was cozy. Our server was very attentive & sweet. Would highly recommend!

The food quality and selection is very good. Also, the wait staff is very friendly. If you are staying at the Hershey Lodge, then it is also very convenient. I would give 4 stars, but I did find the price to be high for the offering, so I am bringing it down to 3.

The Forebay is one of many restaurants within the Hershey Lodge. I consider it to be an upscale bar; a nice place to socialize over drinks with or without food. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere with good accommodations. The seating arrangements are nice with spacious booths and comfortable chairs. At peak hours however, the place is a bit overcrowded and too loud for my taste. One of their best features, from an edible standpoint, would have to be their offering of fresh pretzels as an alternative to the traditional bread basket. These come out warm and are served with a hearty mustard. They are delicious, complementary, and refillable. This was definitely the highlight of my meal. If it weren’t for the crowding issue I would give them another star, but I guess I shouldn’t hold it against them considering they are a bar, and with bars that is a common attribute. Though I did notice several of the staff members tripping not only over each other, but some of the guests as well. All in all, if you are going for a drink, anytime with suit you. If you want a nice quite meal get their a little earlier to avoid the rush. If you dine at the right hour The Forebay can be rather charming in its own right.

I’ve never been so offended so quickly in an establishment. Arrogant and rude management. I don’t appreciate being spoken at like a moron. Management should take a crash course on how to treat their clientele. My money will be spent elsewhere.

The Hershey restaurants are all very impressive. I have been to Harvest, Trevi 5, and the redone Circular and they have never failed to wow me. This was my first trip to the Forebay and I really loved it. Cozy and intimate atmosphere and beautifully prepared dishes in a reasonable price range, especially for the quality you’re getting. I had the pork loin with roast potatoes and sprouts, and for dessert the crème brûlée. Just a perfect, classy evening.

Used to be a very good place to go for a nice quite dinner. However our last three visits have been deplorable. Service absolutely poor! 23 minutes after placing drink orders we received our drinks(restaurant was a mere 30% at capacity, not full at all). Waitress very poor knowledge of menu selection. careless attitude. just an overall poor experience. We are locals to the area and used to eat here all the time, however the last three visits have been poor poorer and worst service — we’re done, too many other restaurants in the area to pay $ 35 for a steak.

This is my favorite restaurant in Hershey. I love their wine selection, seafood, and the bleu cheese dip with fresh cut chips… to die for! I love the dim lighting. It’s romantic & usually quiet. FYI, it’s also supposed to look like the inside of a barn loft, so whomever noticed«boat wheels» in the décor needs glasses. One of these days I plan to eat dessert, as it all sounds amazing, but I am always too full from dinner. Most of the servers we have encountered have been attentive and informative. The same can be said about the bartender. He is always helpful and friendly. We eat there a few times a year and I can’t wait to go back!

Good food and probably the best option for an adult meal when you are at the Hershey Lodge.

I came here on my first night of moving to Harrisburg with my husband and in laws before they all left town the next morning. We figured Hershey would be a good place to eat and look around(we had planned to do more but moving took awhile) and chose this place as it had steaks. We came around 5pm, give or take 30 minutes, and the place was pretty empty. Maybe 5 tables full, tops. The waitresses were really weird about us not having reservations and made us wait awhile before seating us. The restaurant, by the way, never got really crowded or anything. The restaurant is DARK. I usually don’t say this(look at any other review) but this place is incredibly dark to a point where it’s a little hard to see the menu. It’s got this old saloon/steakhouse feel that is okay — but nothing special. Lots of boat wheels on the wall too. I started with the french onion soup which was the best part of the meal. The onion soup was good — the cheese okay — but it was cooked well and the sherry in it made all the difference. Something I would order again — but still the baby swiss doesn’t quite go with the soup — it needed something not so light. They bring out pretzels to your table for the bread which is awesome — super delicious pretzel sticks — yay. They were soft and good — a little different from the normal frozen kind some places serve. So that was a plus. The mustard served with it may have been the worst thing ever though. Other weird thing — my mother in law and I both got white wine that was served in red wine glasses. Just weird. We all got a filet with different side dishes. I ordered the creamed spinach and the white cheddar mashed potatoes. The white cheddar mashed were okay — a bit dry, not too cheddary, but not bad. My creamed spinach just tasted like heavy cream, I didn’t really touch them. My husband got the chorizo blue cheese corn pudding which was quite good — soft and with a bit of spice and quite unexpected with the rest of the menu. The best dish was the charred onion — it was delectable. It far surpassed anything else. This was where I really realized that this play just makes amazing things relating to onions, and almost everything else is sub par. The steaks came with a onion ring on top that we all wished we had more than one of. It was breaded with a crispy crust and had again, a soft, sweet, juicy onion inside. Then there was the steak. It tasted like frozen steak from the grocery store. It was not flavorful, some were not well cooked, and we all ended up asking for A1(which I have never seen them do, and I have never even though to ask for it in my life prior to this) just because the steak was so flavorless. It just wasn’t very good at all, and I would not suggest ordering a steak here. Order something with onions. Lots and lots of onions. We decided to order dessert. I got the crème brûlée — which was really really thin and too watery, it tasted fine, but had all the wrong texture. My husband’s peanut butter mousse was amazing and he got a ton of it. I suggest that overall. It’s an okay place. I’m not sure I’d come back, it’s nothing special, but it does have some darn good onions.

The food is excellent(5 stars!) but the service is brutally slow(1 star!). I’ve eaten here twice in the last year, 12 months apart, and it was the same. One added bonus is it mostly(mostly, NOT completely) absent throngs of wild children. The food first. We’ve tried a wide variety of items. Steak and ribs ranged from excellent to very good. They have some excellent entrée salads as well(try the tortellini one). Pasta was also very good, as was a burger. The wine list is pretty good(although not much exciting on it) and they have a lot of good mixed drinks. The service is slow. Neither time we went was very crowded either — both times we were seated immediately without a reservation. Getting an order placed was ok, getting drinks was slow, and getting food really slow. Getting drink refills was excruciating — save yourself the headache and just drink the water instead. The wait staff was helpful and polite, just slow. It looked like they«batched» all the entrees. No one would get food for awhile, then 4 – 5 tables would be served at once. Weird. Worth it for the food, but find a night when you’re not in a hurry or starving!

Are you & your significant other a pair of DINKS staying at Hershey Lodge? Wanna get away from the throngs of screaming little darlings running around? Had your fill of Tyler and Madison* and their folks, Chad and Trixie McYuppieparents? Then I suggest dinner at the Forebay! The Forebay is the Hershey Lodge’s upscale, casual elegance restaurant. Rick and I were on an amusement park crawl with two other couples. Needing a «just-the-two –of-us» dinner out, we checked to Forebay out. I remember Rick having the Kansas City Strip Steak, which was huge. I’ve heard that KC-style steaks are absolutely amazing but I’ve got a smaller appetite and there’s no way I’d’a finished that thing. Instead, I went for one of their specialties, the Pan Roasted Crabcakes which were amazing! Now this was one of those moments in which I wish I wasn’t a non-drinker. Get a load of these – chocolate martinis, white chocolate martinis, chocolate raspberry martinis, chocolate raspberry martinis, mocha martinis. Unfortunately I’m a type-1 diabetic and I can’t handle alcohol. I did, however, manage a lemon ricotta cheesecake for dessert. Whoo-hoo! It was sinfully good! There’s always room for dessert. It fills in the the gaps in your tummy after you’ve eaten! *Note, the names Tyler and Madison can apply to either gender. And who thought it was a good idea to name kids after those two presidents?
