A & P Food Stores

Much better than the Shop Rite across town, but not as good as grocery stores in Bergen County. They don’t really carry quality cuts of meat. I stopped buying groceries for the week when it became our local grocery store, because the meat always will go bad if you don’t use it within 2 days. The inside of chopped meat is brown and it just looks like it was put together by someone who doesn’t care. I have been able to find some nice bone-​in rib eye’s here, so it might just be hit or miss. If you are used to the Shop Rite in Oakland or Stop and Shop in Franklin Lakes, you’ll definitely like the A & P over the Shop Rite. The Shop Rite in Warwick is ok, but pricier. Don’t even bother with the Price Chopper in Warwick. Wish there was a Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods or Wegman’s near by. You would think with all the local produce there would be more to choose from in the produce section. There are definitely many items they do not carry.

A&P makes it easy for someone who hates to grocery shop. This store is not one of the monster-​sized grocery stores that are appearing on every corner in today’s world. By no means is it a tiny place either. It is perfectly sized to contain all the groceries that one would need and unlike some other local grocery shops, this one is always clean and bright and filled with smiling and helpful staff. I’ve never encountered a long line at this A&P and that’s a rare thing indeed for grocery stores everywhere.
