Went to the little café in the grocery store. The server was so sweet. I love that I can see my food being prepared and they do it nice and clean. The breakfast was yummy and cheap. $ 5 for a huge egg, bacon, frenchfries, toast, and café con leche

This is a supermarket with a cafeteria. Now I’m starting to realize why there’s many cafeterias in many Latin American supermarkets. Nobody has to run out of the door if they ever run out of ingredients or coffee. However, this is the standard, then I can only merit it 3 stars as I’m starting to realize that this is a common standard for cafeteria counters inside grocery stores probably throughout Miami-Dade. But this one… for some reason that others could not, has a hint of nostalgia. Why? Because this one is a hole-in-a-wall that doesn’t try to be one, and doesn’t try to be any better than one. Walking into here and seeing grossly stacked shelves, cluttered counters, cashier stands with little things that are not so utterly important(but still nevertheless useful to some slight degree for the workers — to keep track of time, for entertainment, or for any reason), flourescent lighting, giant windows with rusty bars, twirling fan, old painted walls, and with simple people that are inside for the simple things in life revolving around groceries, counter food and other basic needs all contributed to the nostalgia as if I was in some small grocery store in the corner of some not-so-well-known part of town in Latin America. My $ 3 breakfast in a plastic oval dish was set on a kitschy and colorful«FLORIDA» paper mat that was accompanied by a metal fork with a wooden handle and a mismatching knife. So Third World, but with its unique allure of a simple life — a life that is devoid of any modern luxury or rush. For being a surprisingly pretty accurate replica of some estranged, local, mom & pop, rural/campesino(aka pretty downtrodden in other words) supermarket in Latin America, although not necessarily a good fit in a progressive America, I was tempted to give it an extra star but probably somebody else would normally deduct a star for the same reason, so it stays at 3 for me. :-) Note: About the food — $ 3 for half plate of good scrambled eggs with ham(at least 3 eggs worth for sure), thick and crunchy french fries(no potatoes? the fries were good anyways), long slice of tostada(buttered toast, crunch outside, mushy inside, pressed), and café con leche. And help yourself with the water — a big cup of ice was given and there’s a huge(and yes, plastic, kitschy and neon green — there’s other colors if you want) pitcher of water for you to pour.
