Our visit was very disappointing. It started at the front door when the host acted put out as he was seating us and he commented that they only had two servers tonight. The table service was poor and the food was equally disappointing. When we let the server know that our sweet potato fries were cold she briskly vowed to get some heated up – no apology. All four of our entrees were cold and appeared to be pre-prepared. We won’t be returning.

Really an awful experience. We called mid day to let them know we would have a group of 16. When we showed up, they didn’t seem prepared, and the hostess sized our group up and said, «Each one of you looks like trouble.» I understand as a group of twenty-somethings, there might be jokes to be made, but this was really in poor taste when you’re asking $ 25+ for entrees. We were prepared to have a good time and definitely ready to spend a lot of money on food and alcohol, but this joke in poor taste set a bad mood. Next, our inexperienced waiter received no help from others on the staff. Usually I am very sympathetic toward an inexperienced server, but after a spilled beer on my friends lap, a couple of cancelled appetizers due to taking way too much time, and a lukewarm entrée, I was ready to give up. One of my friends expressed the group’s concerns to the manager, and his meal was comped 50%, which is nice but this was a group issue and we didn’t have someone show up to our table to see how it could be made right. TL;DR: go somewhere else. It won’t ever be worth the price they are charging. Apparently it used to be a Shoney’s and they might just wanna go back to that model. Horrible experience.

This used to be one of our favorites. Has gone downhill. Both in service and food quality. Not sure what happened, but I think we’re done with second chances(hair in a salad tonight, no apologies or even acknowlwdgement that the complaint was valid).

Very good service. Best Caesar salad I’ve ever eaten. They take capers and flash fry them. So yummy. Our service has been very good. Steak was ok. Sides were good. Mashed potatoes were creamy and delish. We will go again.

Decent atmosphere. Broad menu and friendly staff. Searched for a while for a decent place to eat while in town. This delivered for a small town.

We ordered the basic burger. And paid an extra two dollars for the truffle fries. We had no idea that it was going to be garlic fries with Parmesan cheese. The garlic was so strong and unexpected, that we complained to the waitress. She did not comp the fries nor bring out some fries without garlic. We came for the view but got no view but garlic pee yew breath instead. If your expecting a view the view seats are limited and you should call ahead for reservations. The food we were able to eat was very good. I think the staff may have been under pressure with the Sunday crowds and we didn’t see many smiles on the staff :(

I was looking for a good place to eat and was told about the Chop house. When we walked in everyone stop tp look at us. It was not a new feeling and were hungry so we decided to stay. The hostess was very rude she refused to seat the five uf us together. I will never stop again. I guess it trying to eat while black.

I have been to the chophouse location in Murphy as well as Hiawassee, I didn’t realize it was a chain until I saw the menu :-) I love the summer salad, it’s quite delicious and I love the fact that you can select a variety of meats to go with it, including lobster for an extra charge of course. My husband enjoys seafood, and they do have a few selections for surf and turf as well. Some of their main entrees can get quite plain and may not be seasoned well enough for my taste. I had the she-crab soup on the side, it lacked some flavor but it was also extremely salty, I did not enjoy it very much. This restaurant is nothing extraordinary, but I do enjoy that summer salad the most.

Oct 1, 2015 I live here in Hiawassee for 5 months a year. My wife and another couple tried to eat dinner there. We ordered our meals and while we were waiting for our food to come I looked over at my friends wife and noticed German ROACH crawling on the table in front of her. We told the waiter… he did not look that surprised. I paid for our drinks and left. I would strongly suggest not to eat there. I will never ever eat there again. I plan on filing a letter of complaint with the board of health in the morning. If you see roaches on the table what do you think the kitchen must be like?

Excellent Peach Covered Salmon. Good service and wide variety of choices on menu.. Made reservations and no wait at all. Other guests enjoyed the pecan trout. Reasonable portions.

The service was great. The cheesecake is HUGE and delicious. This restaurant is well placed with one of the best views in Hiawassee.

I was visiting family in the area and they raved about the restaurant. After an endlessly long drive through the lush, green mountains we arrived at 5:00pm. Seated quickly then waited and waited. Ordered food and wine. Finally mediocre wine was served. Food was not delivered until 6:30pm. The cold food was reheated and returned burned. Yes, an adjustment was made to the bill but that didn’t make up for the food that couldn’t be eaten. Oh, the view was beautiful. Too bad the food and service weren’t

The food was okay, just okay I believe it’s a little over priced, the steak I ordered wasn’t prepared the way I asked, the mash potatoes weren’t prepared well at all. The Cesar salad tho was amazing, honestly this place for the price didn’t satisfy me. If it wasn’t as expensive($ 100) for 3 people, than I would be more inclined to leave a better rating, but for the price I paid I was left feeling that it wasn’t worth the money. The décor was nice, it was clean, service was good. Ultimately however, I would pass, the food and price aren’t aligned.

Enjoyed a late lunch at Murphy’s after visiting the Hamilton Rhododendron gardens, which is just down the street. I had a soup and sandwich special(Sweet potato soup and a chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Both were excellent. My wife had a blt, which she also enjoyed. I don’t know that a cup of soup and a couple of sandwiches is enough to make a definitive judgement on the quality of a restaurant, but I was certainly encouraged enough to want to give the Chophouse a try the next time we are in Hiawassee No complaints about the service, but the restaurant was pretty much empty at 3:00pm, so our visit may not be a good measuring stick.

One of the best Caesar salads we have had in a long time. The filet I had was cooked perfectly and my wife’s prime rib was very good even though it was the end cut and was a little fatty as well as more well done rather than medium as ordered. We had the hot chocolate cameral turtle cake for dessert and it was delicious. Our waiter was very polite, pleasant and knew the menu well on top of bring very good at his job. We ate on a Thursday night which it turns out all house wines are $ 10 a bottle and they cork it for you to take home in case you don’t drink it all. We look forward to coming back and trying something different on the menu.

The B&B we were staying at recommended this place so we came for Saturday evening dinner. I had the Steak au Poivre with Yukon Mash and the boyfriend had prime rib, both medium rare and the special appetizer of the day(bruschetta). The bruschetta appetizer was topped with fresh tomatoes, basil and feta. For me, the outer crust of the bread was a bit stale and the inner part was mushy which for me doesn’t really make me think bruschetta bread which is typically fresh and crispy. So this was ok. The steak au poivre was half poivre half tasteless but at least it was medium rare which is more than I could say for the… Prime rib, medium rare, or shall I say, rare? The entire piece of meat was pink. Maybe that is what medium rare looks like and I’m ignorant about meat temps? At least the boyfriend didn’t mind it too much and finished off most of his dish(he might’ve been super hungry though). Service was very lovely though as the waitress made sure to take care of our orders in a timely fashion. Sidenote: They’ve got a great view of Lake Chatuge from their parking lot though so maybe go for that? Verdict — You do get a lot of food and apparently this passes for fine dining in Hiawassee but I might be a little spoiled by Atlanta… so I’m gonna have to pass on the Chophouse.

I honestly had no hope of finding a restaurant that would make my chef of a new husband happy on our honeymoon in northern Georgia. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. We found a brochure for the Chophouse in our cabin’s handy-dandy notebook, and it rang a bell. Somewhere in my childhood, I remember my parents talking about a place called the Chophouse. I have no idea if this is the same one, but it was a fabulous experience. We arrived for an early dinner, our server greeted us and described the specials so persuasively that we each ordered one of them. We shared the portabella and blue cheese appetizer, which was delicious. Some pieces were saltier than others, but overall a great way to start the meal. Along with our $ 10 bottle of house wine(a Thursday special). DH had the ribeye with blue cheese mashed potatoes and asparagus, and said it was(I quote) «bomb-diggity.» His pre-meal Caesar salad was OK — not the best either of us has had. I ordered the ribeye with the regular mashed potatoes and a lobster tail, with a pre-meal chopped salad. Again, the salad was only OK(I think we get spoiled by our ultra-fresh organic produce in San Diego), but the lobster tail was cooked and butterflied to mouth-watering deliciousness, the steak(medium rare) was cooked to perfection and the mash was delectable. The wine was delicious as well. The service was outstanding. Our server went above and beyond to help us identify other entertainment on our visit, and he was on the spot with meal timing, refills, etc. All told, it was $ 80 plus a generous tip – because man, that was a great meal.
