Been a long time since we were here! Every thing seems familiar but brighter and the food and service are just as good as ever!

I’ve been a fan of the Pit for years, and I’m sad to say that this place has lost what it once had. Our food tasted as if it had been pre-cooked, and sat for awhile. Maybe it was reheated just as we ordered it, because it did not taste fresh at all. The ribs had little to no meat on them, and had no flavor. My husband ordered the rib tips, and the whole plate was a mixture of meat and small bones.((Aren’t the bones to be removed from rib tips?)) Anyway, he struggled through his meal, because he kept finding bone fragments in the meat, and I struggled to eat mine just because it did not taste good. The corn on the cob tasted as if it had been floating in water for a number of days. It was just not good. Extremely disappointed, and I wont be returning to the Pit any longer. Saddened and disappointed.

20 Stars!!! I got the bbq chicken and rib-tips combo. Both were about the best I’ve ever had. The smoke flavor from cooking over real hickory logs is amazing. Their sauce goes perfect with that smoke taste. The baked beans have pieces of bbq pork in them, making them extra good. Portions are large, making for a really good deal. Compliments to the chef(s) — they really know barbeque.

The worst experience ever!!! One of our meals had a dead ant in it. They made another meal, but still charged us for the meal. The manager didn’t even come out and speak with us. Sent the waitress out to tell us since they remade the meal, they weren’t going to offer us anything. Then, when we said we would report them to the health inspector, the waitress came back and said the manager said she would comp our fountain drinks. Our bill was over $ 86, and they didn’t want to comp a $ 13 meal they served with a dead ant in it. They have lost our business forever. We will be posting on social media the terrible experience we had, too.

Great little spot for bbq anything. I was impressed and thought the sauce they had was amazing. So amazing I bought a couple bottles. For us it was a Mother’s day Pit stop… get it. I know you corny guy, yes! But truly told the food was solid. I had the rib tips and they were meaty and and moist and tender as can be. Wifey had the chicken and she really loved it. As a matter of fact she was a little disappointed she only ordered the ¼ not the ½ a chicken. The place was busy but we got in and out in a decent amount of time and the service was great. Now I wouldn’t drive out of my way to get here but if we ever were in the area I wouldn’t hesittae to pop in. It was really a decent experience all around especially considering we had a party of 10 or so people. Good times and the Pit was it for thiat day!

I love this place. The food is excellent. The prices are really good. They typically give you a lot of food and for the price you cant beat it. The service is always good here too. There’s also a ton of cool memorabilia on the wall. You can spend hours looking at all the photos on the wall. Definitely a place you must visit.

This USED to be my go to place whenever I had a craving for bbq food… until now. What used to be a place for good wood fire grilled meat has now become a distant memory. The full slab of ribs, which is what I always order, was disappointing. It was dry, and was overly smothered in bbq sauce to mask the dryness. The Texas toast garlic bread was made using garlic salt. The corn on the cob was not juicy, but rather over cooked and mushy, extremely over saturated with water and lacking any taste at all. At least the fries were ok… and the Pepsi. The service, or shall I say lack of service, was dreadful. I stared at an empty glass for the better part of my meal, and never did receive a refill. It was not like this before, but the downward trend in quality has hit rock bottom.

The food is as terrible as the service. Just the thought of it makes me want to vomit. Pit Rib House is definitely deserving of zero-stars. The BBQ items shouldn’t taste this bad especially at a restaurant that specializes in BBQ! It isn’t home-cooked food – it is all frozen, canned, pre-cooked, or processed stuff just bought and assembled onto a plate. I am pretty sure the subtle BBQ smell is from an air freshener or something. Here’s a tip, if you go, bring your own drinks because they don’t offer refills on soda, lemonade, iced tea, etc. After walking in and being seated, it took 15 minutes before our waitress showed up to say«hello» and take our drink order. She was about to walk away and I promptly stopped her and told her we were ready to order. Seriously, 15 minutes was long enough, we didn’t need to stare at the menu any longer. I ordered the BBQ Pork Sandwich, and my husband ordered the Full Slab of Ribs(which were served on a Chinet brand paper plate). The is the first time in my life that I have eaten at a table-service restaurant that uses paper plates to serve the meals. I thought we were being ‘punked’. It is unanimous – all the food was terrible. The BBQ Pork Sandwich: the meat was extremely dry and tough, despite being in a pool of grease. The meat is just plain pork completely sauce-less. They put just a smidgen of BBQ sauce on top of the meat(as if it was ketchup on a burger). Additionally, because the meat was so greasy, the sandwich completely fell apart when trying to pick it up. They do give you a whole lot of meat, but when it is this bad, what’s the point. The pre-packaged BBQ pulled pork in the grocery store refrigerated section tastes better than the Pit. The coleslaw that comes with the meal is the cheap low-quality stuff that you find at Jewel or KFC, and it’s very soup-like. My husband’s Full Slab of Ribs: The meat that attaches to the bone was moist, but the outside part was very crisp(like eating razor thin glass). The meat had no flavor. They just sauce the cooked ribs at serving time and throw it on a paper plate. The garlic bread was made by someone that lacks any cooking skills whatsoever. It was simply buttered toast with garlic salt – very salty and nasty. They would be better off using frozen garlic bread from the grocery store. And the corn-on-the-cob must have been boiled or steamed for an hour. It was completely mushy(like canned peas). In the meantime the waitress/server NEVER came by once to check up on us or see if the food was ok, and NEVER once filled up our sodas. Dumbfounded because there were more servers than customers(only 4 tables of customers). We ate half the meal and quit – we were too repulsed. So, we waited and waited and waited for almost 20 minutes before the server came over and asked us if we wanted a to-go container. No thanks, I don’t want to eat this cr@p ever again. And then she disappeared. Never filled up our drinks and never brought us our check. We waited and waited and waited, and after another 15 minutes, we just walked up to the front and asked the hostess for our check, letting her know that our waitress disappeared. Because we received no service from the waitress(other than taking our order) we left less than the standard tip – that is just how bad service is here. Anyone that thinks that this is good food has really low standards, and should broaden their horizons because there are many other BBQ joints that offer better food.

Rib lovers won’t find many better places to chow down than The Pit. Lots of smoke flavor, a little bit of bark from the rub, and the sauce is just delicious. Meat is fall-off-the-bone tender, but not so tender that the meat comes off when you separate the ribs. Baked beans and chips/fries are the way to go for sides, though the cole slaw and Texas toast aren’t bad. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table and the service is typically very good.

Service was fine Décor was fine — lots to look at Prices were fine Food — was tasty but overdone. Bbq chicken was dry. Even dark meat. Pulled pork dry and then smothered in sauce to try to help it. Ribs were overdone as well. Corn on the cob — water logged. Flavor was right there though. To the owners I say. Just a wee little bit more attention to detail you knock it out of the park.

Service was fantastic from start to finish I had never been there before the girl was really attentive and answered any and all questions and had great suggestions as for what I should get I ended up getting the platter sampler the ribs were fall off the bone tender the sauce was delicious I ended up getting beef which was also very tender and not overly season with the barbecue sauce the barbecue chicken was moist everything was delicious the chili was great the baked beans were superb the bake potato probably has been sitting in a drawer for a while so I wasn’t too keen on that but I prefer mashed potatoes anyways it’s well worth the amount of money you pay I will definitely be bringing my friends here as the service and the food were phenomenal And the atmosphere is rather cute too!

The smell on the outside of this place is enchanting. The ribs, rib tips, and chicken are not. I was so sad there was no wood smoke flavor at all… yes the rib tips were fall off the bone. Chicken was super dry. But the Salads are very very good! I’d go back for a to go salad. Chucks in Burbank is so much more flavorful.

Food was great server Megan really good! We went around 5:00 place was busy before and after we left. Hostess was flaky blonde pointed to tables for guests to sit down. If the hostess was our server it would have been a problem but Megan was so on top of everything brought us refills checked on us several times. Great experience good very good. I don’t eat out often, but when I do, I just can’t say no to a slab of delicious ribs. I have eaten at a few rib joints on the south side, and so far I enjoyed The Pit the best. If you eat there you just can’t go wrong with the ribs. Last time I went, I had the rib, brisket, and chicken combo and everything was delicious. When we got there there were a few people waiting to be seated, but the wait wasn’t longer than 10 minutes. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed, and yet we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Definitely recommend you check this place out, I have and I haven’t been disappointed.

We have been coming here for years and I just realized I haven’t reviewed it. We ate here midweek for our sons birthday. Had a party of 8. We were seated right away. Our waitress was awesome very attentive to our needs. We order ribs and chicken and weren’t disappointed. Order came out quick like always. They have a great BBQ ribs. Atmosphere is nice. We definitely continue to go back.

Had dinner earlier today at this popular southwest side restaurant. I ordered their chili as an appetizer and the half slab of ribs. First the Chili: Great testing chili, perhaps one of the best I’ve tasted. I failed to ask for sour cream. However, the absence of sour cream allowed me to taste the flavor of the ground beef which gives this chili an amazing taste. Second, the ribs: OMGoodness, OMGoodness! Perhaps the best ribs on the southwest side. They’re not thick ribs, but they are deliciously tender and lean. The BBQ sauce gives the ribs most of its’ flavor. The Pit Rib House makes their own BBQ sauce. This sauce will satisfy every BBQ sauce aficionado. The sauce is so good, it over powers the smokiness of the rib, if it even has a smokiness flavor. The restaurant motto is «It’s so good cooked with wood.» Due to the tasty BBQ sauce, the smokiness seems to be absent. Simply put, I couldn’t detect that it was cooked in wood. Most high end specialty rib shacks or high end rib restaurants will serve the ribs without any BBQ sauce, in-spite of having their own original recipe BBQ sauce. And they leave it up to the customer to add the BBQ sauce. This allows the customer to enjoy the flavorful texture of the rib before adding the BBQ sauce. My suggestion is for the Rib Pit to serve the ribs without the BBQ sauce. There’s a bottle of their original recipe BBQ sauce at every table. The customer can add the BBQ sauce if needed. Next time, I’m going to order the ribs without the BBQ sauce so that I can first experience the smokiness of the wood in the rib. Lastly, the sides of coleslaw and pasta were great compliments. The coleslaw is prepared the way I like it… not creamy and not too dry. Just perfect!

Came for lunch and only a few tables were occupied. We decided on the pit platter which came with ribs, chicken and pulled pork. We chose cole slaw and fries. Everything was meh except the chicken. That was good. Waitress was a bit standoffish and she never came to check up on us.
