Akito is a family favorite that we go to on occasion when I’m in town visiting. I’ve eaten there in the restaurant three times, and have ordered to go half a dozen times. Each time the food is reasonable as far as fast food Japanese in western North Carolina goes. The staff has always been polite and friendly. The restaurant service has been acceptable and fast. The last time I went I requested extra broccoli and they gave it to me without an extra charge. I recommend it to anyone looking for fast, good Japanese food in the area. Oh, and the free sweet tea when you dine in is another great feature they do that saves what would likely be $ 2 anywhere else.

I grew up in Mountain View and this place has always been great for fast, cheap Japanese. We dined inside today and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Our waitress blatantly ignored us when we asked for extra mushrooms and never even came back to check on us. Then my husband found not one, but TWO black hairs in his teriyaki chicken. When we told an employee she walked off and never returned. We sat for several minutes waiting for someone to return. Didn’t happen. We had to go to the front and ask for a manager to talk to. Then he acted like it was a hassle to give us our money back for the food, considering we barely ate any of it. Terrible, terrible experience. I wouldn’t give any stars if that were an option.

Holy crap! What can I say? This is the best, fastest and cheapest food ever! The people are wonderful, the food is spectacular and the environment is awesome. Private party room available all day for $ 10? Yes please!

I love eating at this place when I go to Hickory! The prices are awesome, and the service is amazing. I wouldn’t say it’s the best place for hibachi, but if you’re looking for something good and quick then this is your place. And… they give you free sweet tea if you dine in… what could possibly be better?
