This place makes the best Dahi Bhalla Papri Chat. The staff is excellent and provide great service. They make you feel at home by serving fresh hot Paratha and Roti’s when you get their unbeatable deal of $ 5 lunch. A must visit place!

Disappointed disappointed. Wanted to have chat and decided to try something local. Reached restaurant at 7.20 pm and was deciding what to have when one of Staff told me to order quickly as they will close at 7.30 pm. Notice at entrance clearly stated 8 pm. The staff told me if you dont finish eating by7.30 then you need leave the place !!! Unfinished ! And she will pack the food for us. She again reminded us! Found the Staff rude

Decent food at dirt cheap price. Veg meal was very decent for 5 bucks. Some chat items were not up to the mark as per my friends. 4 stars for the vale. 3 for quality.

After shopping at IKEA, I had lunch here for the first time. It was very convenient location for those who went shopping at Hicksville. There are many indian restaurants around this place. The workers were all very friendly. You order, then sit and wait for someone brings you what you order, eat, and bring tray to the garbage next to the entrance door. I dong know why but I payed after. I had spinach curry and roti. The taste was ok, satisfied for what I payed. I will come back again.

Very good place for Indian sweets. I’ve tried a lot of their items and they’re all pretty good. Their Samosa Chaat is very good!

After my first review, i have to update this. First time i came here I was really happy with my experience, after I came again, I ordered a masala dosa which I waited 20 minutes before, and an order of thali to go. The workers were nasty and not helpful at all like the first time, plus when I got home the dosa was SOSALTY that I had to throw it out it was inedible.

Tried this place on a whim for lunch since I was craving daal. Fairly sized snack and sweet shop that offers full meals. It’s the vegetarian cuisine of southern India so no meat here. Ordered the lunch special which only cost $ 5.99 plus we ordered samosas. Two for only $ 1.99. They gave us daal, cauliflower, a veggie curry, aloo chat, rice and roti. They were all delicious and perfectly spiced. The inside isn’t much to look at but the staff are all friendly and helpful and the prices are dirt cheap. A great choice to come for lunch. Definitely going to come back to try something new.

I love this place delicious vegetarian dishes! I got the lunch meal came with chickpeas, lentils, potatoes naan and rice. my only issue is that the food is reheated in the microwave straight from the open box refrigerator.

Went in to dine only for snacks, so can’t comment on other items in the menu. We ordered samosa and it turns out that they reheated a frozen one. Okay, nothing bad as long as it was made fresh and tastes good but the centre of the samosa was ice cold. Now that’s a turn off.

Not the best indian food in the area– the Unilocal deal was great but the food & service was lack luster. Will not be going back unless just for sweets.

Been over to Hicksville a few times because on a lark I bought a groupon for it. I love Indian food ever since I was in Iraq for a few years of war. I’m stone cold uninitiated white middle class when it comes to this stuff but I figured since I acquired that taste for it I couldn’t really lose. I was right. I made my case like this– give me whatever you like; surprise me. I did have to make a few choices the first visit. On the second visit I was lucky enough to get the same woman, and just told her to show me what ya got! Well, it was excellent. I can’t wait to go back. The only problem is I’m kinda tied to this place if I get the same woman again because I have NO clue what I was eating. I end the dinner with a selection from their sweets display. It’s on! I am hooked! The place is kind’ve a drag because it’s like a pizza parlor thing but DAMN! I’m hooked!

Sometimes you just really need milk cake. When those times happen, you should head to Rajbahog and get yourself a pound of milk cake for $ 12. They also offer a pound of assorted pastries for $ 10. Everything here is good. They have a huge supply and every single thing is fresh. They will also let you sample different treats prior to purchasing them. The prices are fair and the service is friendly. They also offer a check-in offer of free tea with a purchase.

Last Saturday after work I was experiencing my usual dosa cravings but feeling adventurous. So I decided to redeem a deal I had bought. I frequent Rajbhog of Jackson Heights, and was looking forward to dosai without the distance… …So much for that. The very sweet lady behind the counter apologized that she had forgotten to thaw the batter that day, so no dosa. However, this twist of luck proved to be far from bad karma. I was ravenous and decided on a «lentil muffin», mirchi pakora, and a thali to eat in and sweets to take home. I ordered the thali first. It included choice of two rotis or one paratha, basmati rice, dal, kadhi, 2 pickles and choice of two curries. I went with the rotis, which came out more like homemade chappathis… mmmm!!! That was definitely a pleasant surprise, because chappathis are one of the few breads I absolutely love. They were thin but flexible/durable enough to handle my undhuiu and jalfrazie with paneer. The first was loaded with the papdi beans and baby eggplant I adore in the Gujrati stew. I thought the jalfrazie was a bit overcooked, but the flavor was fine. My mixed dal and kadhi were best spooned over the rice, their gravies being too thin to constitute neat, chappathi-dipped finger food. So I spooned them up and mixed them with the lime and onion pickles. That onion pickle was so simple and fresh, but outrageously delicious. I should have stopped there, but I couldn’t because the sesame-topped lentil muffin caught my eye. It proved to be an amalgam of coarse, corn-bread like meal studded with mustard seeds and served steaming hot… WOW! These muffins bite back! And because I am a spice masochist, I also ordered the mirchi pakora. It came out chopped up, served with the requisite red and green chutneys, and topped with more of that stunning onion pickle. Rajbhog makes this better in Hicksville than in Jackson Heights, that’s for sure. With sweet tooth still clamoring for action and deal money remaining, I ordered a half pound of anjeer(fig) burfi and two cups of angur basundi. I tried one of the cups and kept the other for later. These were like tiny, saffron flavored rasmalai in saffron milk… mmmm! I cannot believe I had never come across these in all my desi food-ventures. As for the burfi, they were what I know and love. I will surely return to this rajbhog, especially because like at the other location, service is polite and helpful. And I will continue to leave big tips because they deserve it.
