I went there today for the first time because i heard the brisket was good. Well to my surprise the brisket was dry, the mac and cheese was dry, and the bread was hard. My wife and I both had upset stomachs not even 10 minutes after eating the food. The sauces near the drinks were wide open and looked as if they were not fresh. I tried them anyway(mistake). I do not recommend this place, the food is horrible. When i called to express my concern i asked to speak to the manger Cameron. The female that answered the phone told me his name and said that he was not there. I asked to leave my number and she replied that he would not call me back and that it was best i call him.

This is my second time here and I have been please with service, quality of food and taste. I read bad reviews but I guess if you compare witness NC barbecue it is going to be different, so far I will recomend it. My first time I have tried pull pork it was really juicy, well cooked, green beans and corn on the cob, nothing out of the ordinary, my husband had brisket little dry, sausage and creamy spinach they were super good, they have 3 barbacue sauces to choose from and you can serve yourself. Free vanilla ice cream is also available. I saw they have catering $ 10.00 per person,.

Don’t waste your time, go to Carter Brothers! Outrageous prices for mediocre(ATBEST) food. Charging .25 for a Dixie water cup. NO thanks! Even the ice cream was gross!

I have been to this location numerous times and I can honestly say they have finally gotten it together. Yes they may have a few mess up but honestly what restaurant doesn’t. The new management and staff that are in this location now are very friendly and like to make sure the customers are happy. Two things that I noticed is that the new manager takes pride in the product that he serves to us and also will correct the situation their at the restaurant. My wife and I were eating their one night for dinner and I heard the new manager tell his employees to give his number to any unhappy customer so he can correct the situation. I will honestly say that I have fallen in love with Dickeys Barbecue Pit and will continue to bring new people here. GREATFOODANDGREATANDFRIENDLYSTAFF I HIGHLYRECOMMENDIT!!! If you do have a concern with service just ask to speak with the new manager or get his number.

Well I’d always wanted to try out this little Texas based BBQ chain, I stopped by because I wanted to try out that smoked turkey they have on the menu… and I wanted one of those big yellow Dickey’s cups. I ordered the regular smoked turkey combo deal which came with 2 sides, a little yeast roll and a drink… and yes the big yellow Dickey’s cup comes with the meal deal. The little yeast roll was great, the sides I chose were green beans and a bag of Dickey’s own brand of potato chips. The green beans were awesome, they are cooked with ham and have a great flavor, the chips are just chips, nothing special, I had jalapeño cheddar. The turkey is served with a couple rings of raw onion and a couple of bread and butter pickle chips which I guess are mainly for decoration. I just wasn’t a fan of the turkey, it had a slight smoke flavor, but the texture was just odd to me, kinda like thick cut lunch meat honestly, almost mushy… at $ 11.00 for this combo I expected way better, and a portion that went along with the price, I felt it was really a rip off for the quality and quantity v/s the price tag… but atleast I got my big yellow Dickey’s cup. The guys behind the counter were great, the place was clean except for the drink station. They have a icecream cone dispenser for the free icecream and there were crumbs of crumbled cones everywhere and was just untidy, I was here early at 11am on my visit and only 1 other person in the place eating, so I would imagine that mess wasn’t cleaned up from the night before. This was my first visit to a Dickey’s BBQ and probably my last, crazy high price for small portions of low quality food are not for me… but I got that big yellow cup to take home though.

Honestly my meal was gross. They chopped the brisket so finely it was just mush. The bbq sauce was extremely sweet and the okra was undercooked. I would not go back. There are many places with both cheaper prices and higher quality bbq.

We have been here a number of times before but this is the first time I wrote it up. The food was the main reason for as many stars as it has. I read the other reviews and can understand the concerns expressed by those that had the lowere ratings. When we went in there was no one in line at all and obviously hadn’t been for several minutes since all the meats were in the«warmer». I ordered the 3-meat meal with the fried onion tanglers and baked beans and Mary ordered the Managers special(Big Barbecue w/two sides). When my plate came up it had only two meats and green beans. It took several minutes to get them to understand the problem even after they looked at the receipt. Also the menu pictures and my memory(which can’t be trusted too much) had Hushpuppies on the plates. But there were none. When we sat down to eat, the meats were all luke warm at best. The onion tanglers had been made to order so they were great and a lot of them. And the Baked Beans were very hot and excellent. So I did what I always told our kids not to do, I ate the meats first and fast so I could enjoy them as much as possible. The Brisket(and I forgot to tell them not to chop it) and the Polish Sausage were very good but would have been excellent had they been hot. The Chicken(first time I have ordered it) was ok, but don’t think I will order it again. Two reasons: I enjoy the brisket and sausage and found out a two-meat plate is big enough. So back to the detractors to the score: number 1 is the people and their lack of attention to detail and, number 2 is that the meats are not kept warm enough. Both of these reflect a management issue. Or maybe best put, a lack of management as the issues have been brought up before and not corrected. I could not tell who was in charge during our visit. And the only time anyone came out into the dining area was when I informed them that the ice cream cones were fouled up and could not be gotten out of the holder. Hopefully at some point soon either local management or the chain’s management will step up and do something. And I don’t mean«contact us and we will correct your problem». Correct the issues by better training the employees, setting and requiring a certain level of standard of customer service. And doing something about the meat storage and serving to assure it is hot when it gets to the customer.

Dickey’s BBQ was one of my favorite places to go every week for almost 2 years straight. I have been to many locations in different states such as Texas and Colorado. That is how much I love it! Their brisket was to die for. After the first owner left this High Point location, I noticed right away that portion sizes reduced to staggering levels and new signs with higher prices went up. They weren’t even putting pickles out for a while. I bit my tongue about higher prices because I loved the brisket so much I was willing to pay a little bit more so it could stay open and pay its bills. After a while the quality went down as they would serve cold pre-made fries, or tanglers. They eventually ran off the original crew who was well trained and fast at the chopping block. Almost every time I and a couple of coworkers would come back in, there would be new faces around. Why is this bad? Well because the line would not move at all during lunch. After you would get your order completed, the foodwould sit there cold on the counter for 5 – 10 more minutes as you waited to pay. So a week ago I happened to be down in High Point and wanted to drop in really quick and take my food to go. There were over 20 people in front of me. At first I was just standing there looking at my phone to pass time, and then I thought to run a stopwatch and see how long it would take the first couple to move aside. When it hit 7 minutes I stopped it and added in the 3 or so minutes before I hit the stopwatch, then counted the people in front of me. There is your problem right there. How do you expect someone to wait that long? How do you expect that the meat will be warm when you leave it out and do not rotate it in the warmer? How do you expect that my just-made lunch will be warm when it’s sitting behind someone waiting for fries or tanglers because they don’t want the old ones sitting there for over 10 minutes? Putting hot temperature BBQ sauce on it is not the answer. I’m giving you a 3 star because I hope you can make it a 5 again and stick around. So in short, it’s clean, long wait times, cold food, higher prices above $ 10, and always new untrained people.

I tried Dickies for lunch yesterday. Overall, I was not impressed. Being in the heart of North Carolina barbecue country, I would expect more from a new barbecue restaurant coming in to compete with the locals. The menu was more extensive than most local places, which serve chopped and sliced pork. I was looking forward to trying something different, especially brisket. They are overpriced compared to the local bbq joints. It was $ 13 for a two meat, with two sides plate. That is close to double what others charge. I will say that it included a lot, but the taste and quality was not there. First and best was the smoked polish sausage. It had good flavor and texture, but that was the only good thing on my plate. Everything was cold, which did not help. The brisket was terrible. Very little beef flavor, no smoke taste and very dry. I had to dip it in the bbq sauce to make it edible. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made with cheese wiz. The mashed potatoes were okay, but ice cold. The hush puppies were overcooked and dry. I will probably not return to try the other smoked meats.

Wish there was half stars in the rating scale. I ordered the rib plate with waffle fries and hush puppies. The ribs had good flavor but I expected them to be warmer temperature wise. The hush puppies were almost black and extra crunchy which turned me off and the fries well they were waffle fries. My wife had the Smokehouse Salad which she said was okay. I was not impressed and the best thing about my trip was the free ice cream cone.

Was driving from Winston and spotted another Dickey’s. Clean restaurant in a nice location. Switched my order up this time to a 2 meat plate and went with Brisket and Pulled Pork. The Mac & Cheese deserves special praise as well! I love Carolina BBQ, but I have a special place in my heart for Texas-style as well. When you need a change of pace, you cannot go wrong with Dickies.

I have eaten here several times and I have come to the same conclusion every time. The staff is very friendly and food is generally good. However, I do feel that they are over priced especially the kids meals($ 5.50) and unless you visit here on a regular basis, getting the same thing every time, the ordering process is horrific especially when ordering for more than one.

I’d say more like a 4.5 stars. When I traveled to NC, a Duke Alum mentioned that NCBBQ is one of the things that he missed. He said carolina bbq has a more vinegary tomato pepper taste. Not sweet. This was the closest BBQ we found that was not closed on a sunday. It was 5 miles from the airport. I’ll say, Mr. Duke Alum was right about carolina bbq! Delish! He said typically, they are chopped, so with that, I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich with the carolina vinegar sauce. The only thing was it had raw white onions, which is fine with me but grilled onions is more my thing. My 2 sides were fried okra and mac and cheese, both were good but nothing special. The carolina sauce added tang without destroying the flavor of the beef brisket. Not smothering it. Of course, I had to get the sweetened tea. Customers get to keep the yellow cups, which is reusable and microwaveable. Good good for kids and adults who tend to break glassware? I also saw that kids eat free on sunday. My husband enjoyed his 2 meat plate of pulled pork and ham with the dickey’s sauce. The only thing that I can see that can turn off people is that service seems slow because they hand slice and chop everything as you order. Mind you though that I might be rating this on the high side because this is my first time eating carolina chopped bbq and have no way to compare it to other carolina bbqs.

I loved the brisket at Dickeys when I lived in Texas and Arizona but this place seems to have food just sitting around. They unwrapped the brisket from a warmer in plastic wrap. Gross! Then the fries and onion strings they gave us were cold and limp. Gross again! I hate sending things back but there was no way we were going to eat it. They did give us hot and crispy ones the second time but it took awhile. This franchise location needs to be closed or managed correctly. Then my other big complaint is how un-green they are with their yellow cups and silverware… is it all really necessary! I can’t recycle any of it here

First let me say, I love their product! But this location has been, and still is, a disgrace to the product! The pulled pork, brisket, and other meats are fantastic! This is more of a Texas style barbecue. They have fabulous sides like a creamy Mac n cheese, smoky BBQ beans, fried onions, seasoned green beans, and more! This location has epically failed all four times I’ve been here! They always are out of something, the ice cream machine never works, and it’s usually dead inside! I’ve received vouchers from the manager multiple times, but at some point just fix the issues! Go to the Winston Salem location for the better experience!

It’s just okay. The guys behind the counter were fairly nice but seemed troubled to have to take our order. I asked the guy about how good the turkey was. His response…“I mean… it’s turkey.” What?! That’s your sales pitch? There was no passion behind the food and the BBQ could be classified as generic at best. Honestly the best thing there was the fried okra. Yes, fired bits of slimy green veggies represented the best this place had to offer. The free ice cream had reason to be free… it had a real funky taste to it. But hey… you get to keep a really big yellow cup.

I grew up in Dallas with Dickey’s and even though this is a franchise you still have the feel and flavors of the Dallas store. Food was fresh and I always recommend the beef brisket chopped or sliced. My kids love the secret menu choice of Paco’s Potato with grilled chicken, ranch dressing, cheese, bacon and Tanglers. Staff is always great fun and helpful and we feel like part of the family when we eat there. Kids menu on Sundays(Kids eat FREE) is always a winner with 5 kids.

Delicious!!! Dickeys is far from being a fast-food joint, although it is. The care and love that goes into their food is evident. Stopped into Dickeys for lunch while in High Point, NC. Bellied up to the counter and order a 2 meat meal of Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket. The plate comes with 2 sides, for which I choose mac & cheese and coleslaw. The pulled pork and brisket, were succulent, smoky, and seasoned perfectly. The mac & cheese was creamy and delicious, while the cole slaw was crunchy and the perfect cool compliment to go with the meal. So happy because I just found out there are Dickeys BBQ joints in California! See you soon!

As an out-of-towner I wanted to experience some really authentic BBQ. The staff was super helpful in suggesting what would make for the most delicious meal, and they were right! Really pleased with the pulled pork, great mashed potatoes and honestly those hush puppies were killer(never had them before, now I’m hooked.) Good price, a little dirty but I was grateful for such hospitable staff!

This is mostly for the Beef Brisket — the other smoked meats are ordinary, with the Pulled Pork being particularly off key. The polish sausage has some nice flavor, with some heat, but it is not served in links, but rather cut into small rounds — major party foul, sausages are about the link — try putting a load of the rounds in a bun — messy at best. The Brisket is very good — tender, nice fat layer, well smoked, and the outside bits are nice, not burnt. You can get it chopped and sauced(don’t go there), or sliced, and it is the sliced you want. Hushpuppies are pretty good, the Potato Salad is not. The Slaw is good as long as it is on a sandwich with a nice amount of Brisket. The Mac & Cheese is not bad, just not great. Go for the Brisket, work around the rest. Good folks here, and UNC fans. Note that ALLTHEMEATS cost $ 12 a pound including Chicken Polish Sausage, and Turkey — not sure that makes a lot of sense economically.
