I got this for the first time last week as a take out order. For a cafeteria styled place it was okay. I got fried chicken with mac and cheese and tea. The tea was the worst thing I had ever out in my mouth. The taste is indescribable. The chicken was nice and crisp. A good amount for your money considering it is on the pricy side for a cafeteria. The mac and cheese was very runny and I didn’t eat very much of it.

The food quality is good here. It’s typical cafeteria food so set your expectations accordingly. Prices are fair and the staff is friendly. I don’t eat at Cafeterias often but when I do J & S is consistently good. I can’t give them 5 stars because cafeteria food has it’s limits. If you like cafeteria food I definitely recommend them.

This place didn’t invent consistency in quality food service, but it definitely has made a contribution to that in this area. They offer typical, cafeteria style comfort food with a Southern bent. Their menu is broad in every category — entrees, sides, salads, bread, and desserts — and all are very good to excellent, and there is something particularly pleasing about moving down a line, being able to see the food items before you decide what you’ll have that day. The pricing is excellent, the service always friendly and efficient — you’ll be checked on several times while eating, to see if you need condiments, more drink, etc. Nothing chic or sexy about this place or its food — it’s just a bright, clean restaurant with solid food choices, excellent value, and good service.

My girlfriend & I usually eat here once a week. I know I can always get my vegetables here. Plus you can actually sit & carry on a conversation with someone without being interrupted. I think they are reasonably priced. The food is always good. And if you’re still hungry, you can always get a dessert to go.

Came here because my mom wanted to. Got the chicken pot pie. Was a little turned off when i encountered two halves of a wish bone, but when i started fishing out vertebrea i couldn’t keep eating. Totally disgusted, do NOT recommend.

Typical Cafeteria food. If you are familiar with K&W then you will know what I am talking about. I will say this place is better than K&W but that isn’t saying its good. :) When I come here I usually just get veggies and a biscuit.(If the biscuit is fresh.) If they are not fresh, request a fresh one, trust me it is worth the wait. BEST thing they have here. This place is kind of expensive for what you get… Especially for cafeteria food.

The food here is a typical cafeteria. I got the whitefish, potatoes and broccoli with holendaise. The fish that was sitting there looked very old so I requested a new piece. They had no problem with this and were happy to oblige! The portions are relatively small. The potatoes were yummy, the broccoli was a little hard(ok, a lot hard!) and the fish was extra crispy. The staff here is great. They are not waiters/waitresses but they ask if you need anything often. My bill was a little steep for a cafeteria. I’m talking $ 10.06 for lunch. I could have done Applebee’s for that, and the food is a little better. I would return, but I wouldn’t rush there or go out of my way!

J&S Cafeteria is just like its crosstown rival, K&W Cafeteria. To this day, I still don’t know what those letters stand for. To Atlantans, J&S is similar to Picadilly, except newer, cleaner, and better priced. How much better priced? Their«Thanksgiving Special» included turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, two Southern sides, choice of bread, dessert, and drink for only $ 6.25. Jeez. Not only that, but the portion sizes for the sides are the most generous of any«cafeteria» that I’ve experienced. I went with cabbage and collard greens and they were overflowing in their small bowls. Pie serving slices were also generous and I had to think for a bit before deciding on the sweet potato pie over their apple and cherry pies. As for breads, a unique selection they offer is Mexican cornbread. I went with American and the lady bread server gave me a huge chunk. All of J&S’ foods are made fresh daily and they show off this fact on a record video they play on a TV inside of the dining area. As for the food itself, my only complaints are not enough turkey and the cornbread was dry. Other than that, it’s about what you’d expect for the price and made for a satisfying and filling Southern meal. Clientele is decidedly small town and country. A Danny McBride look-alike was sitting right next to me, full natural perm and all. It was beautiful. Upon checkout, you can buy some of their homemade jarred goodies, such as North Carolina«Chow Chow»(onion, pickle, and bean relish). J&S has a few other locations in North Carolina, but the company is based out of High Point. Sweet.
