Food was exceptional, server however seemed to think we were not worth her time. Her loss, still tipped her 15% but would have tipped 20% plus. I know some of the server there and they are excellent, very good at making suggesting for pairing wines and food.(that why you got the 4 star and not a 3) Steaks were exceptional as was the seafood. Room was to cold and bright for comfort.

My friends decided to surprise me with a birthday lunch today. I love food and am always looking for new places to try. My friends let me choose the location so I looked on Unilocal and Sammy G’s had some interesting choices! We ordered the lobster nachos to start which were amazing! Once we finished the appetizer, I ordered a chopped salad which was also very yummy. For my entrée I ordered the frittata. I did not enjoy the frittata at all! It was my first time trying one and upon the servers mention that it was similar to quiche(which is my favorite), I decided to give it a shot. Honestly I’m not even sure what frittata is supposed to be like so I can’t say that it was a bad dish, I personally just did not enjoy the taste or texture. Overall we had a great time and our server Jeff was great! He was very friendly and knew the menu well. We will definitely be back to try some new dishes!

I have been to Sammy G’s Tavern twice now and have been very impressed both times. Sammy G’s is off of Eastchester in a busy shopping area. As a result, it is a little hard to find parking sometimes. You will be able to get a spot. You just might have a little trek to get to the restaurant. Sammy G’s is fairly upscale for High Point. I’m not saying that you will be uncomfortable wearing jeans to dinner, but you also wouldn’t be out of place in a tie. The ambience is nice and there is a nice bar area. They have a fairly good selection of craft beers(Red Oak, Foothills, Duck Rabbit, etc…) As far as the food goes, I can only discuss one item: The Tavern Burger. This place can actually get a little pricey for what it is when you get into the main entrees, but you can still eat here on a budget by ordering the burger. The burger is very good too. It comes with a fried egg on top and some delicious crispy bacon. The burger comes on a Kaiser roll with Pesto Mayo on it. All in all, a good burger. I also opt for the Sweet Potato Fries which are delicious here. The main reason that this place deserves 4 stars is because of the service. On both occasions all of the staff members have gone out of their way to ensure an enjoyable experience. From the hostess, to the bartender, to the servers. Everyone is on the same page with the quality of service that they bring. This can make the difference between a 3 and 4 star restaurant experience. Sammy G’s is a good place to grab dinner or even grab a couple of drinks after work.

DH and I went into Sammy G’s based on previous Unilocal review and we were a little disappointed. As far as strip mall restaurants go this is one of the best, but having said that we do have a few grievances. 1. If the restaurant is almost entirely empty, please do not stack customers on top of each other. 2. I know what to expect with Sirloin as far as a cut of steak, but mine was riddled with un-chewable pieces. The best part of this place was the service, our gal(dark hair) was awesome and the calamari app was delicious, they should make it a salad entrée!

I love Sammy G’s. PROS– Overall each entrée is absolutely scrumptious. My favorite apps are the Tuna Tostada and the lobster nachos– seriously, so GOOD! My favorite entrees? Pretty much all of them. The East Meets Wests is for whatever reason always a little watery? However, it still tastes great. Servers have always been very attentive and jovial. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Cons– Super loud. I mean really, REALLY loud. Which could be a pro if you’re trying to find a restaurant where you can talk about anything with your dinner partner because it’s so loud nobody can hear you. Depends on how you look at it ;P Overall, five stars for Sammy G’s!

Started off my Friday Night here with a friend. I ordered the Rock Candy Martini, which was very tasty. It was my first time there and I really like the atmosphere of the place. The wait staff was nice and service was good. From what I could see of the food potions, they looked huge. My friend got a salad and a burger.

All I can say is wow! Well, clearly that isn’t all I’m going to say… My family and I love Sammy G’s Tavern. I really haven’t had one dish that I didn’t like. Although my go-to entrée is the East Meets West. It’s a delightful plate filled with crusted Ahi Tuna, over an awesome rice pilaf, surrounded by red peppers and snap peas. It has this scrumptious sweet Thai sauce and a crab cream cheese. Getting a bite with a little of everything on the plate is heaven. However, if ahi tuna isn’t your cup of tea, they have many other delightful things on the menu. I tend to try a bite of everyone else’s food, so I can attest to that. They have great drinks and desserts as well. They’re 2050 Loukoumades are also heavenly. They are fried doughnuts in a cinnamon sugar, drizzled with honey and come with a chocolate sauce for dipping. That isn’t the type of dessert that I would typically order, but I’m so glad that my sister pulled the trigger at our last dinner here. The service here is usually on point. There have been a few nights where it took a bit of extra time to get the food, drinks and the bill, but the cuisine here definitely makes up for it. If you’re ever in the Clemmons area, their sister restaurant is 2520 Tavern. It’s just as great!

Food and service are always awesome. Seafood is amazing. Wish they would get some outdoor heaters as it is nice to dine outside.

Really wished we knew about this place earlier. We will come here again and again. We have some picky people and also some with special diet request. This place has something for everyone. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place since I moved to High Point so I decided to try this place out on my birthday! I was not disappointed. It was phenomenal. Great service — our waiter was very accommodating and had a great knowledge of the menu. The food was drool-worthy. I got their fried egg burger(The Tavern Burger) and it was perfect(and this is coming from a fried egg burger connoisseur). The drinks were great too! I had the rock candy martini. Yum! Overall great experience — can’t wait to go back!

Back in the area for work, a group of coworkers and I stumbled upon this place for dinner as we were looking for a new restaurant to dine at. We all agreed that the menu had a little something for everyone on it, plus it was close proximity to the hotel we were staying at. It wasn’t busy inside & we were seated right away. It was a nice décor, upscale looking but at the same time casual. Our server was very friendly and was quick to take our food and drink orders. We started was the mussels appetizer. While they gave you a generous amount, the mussels themselves were small & definitely overcooked. What saved the dish was the tasty, creamy sauce it was served in and the toasted bread to soak it up. I also had the Yasou salad, which was a very good size portion and was full of fresh veggies. The Greek vinaigrette it was served with was pretty tasty. My coworkers both ordered the stuffed flounder which they both seemed to agree was fresh and delicious. Overall I found Sammy G’s to be a good place to stop in for a meal. In my opinion, it isn’t exactly 4 stars but more like 3.5 to me. It is nice to know if I’m back in the area for work this place would be worth checking out again.

The food was delicious! We enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere, but something was off with the service. We aren’t sure if our waitress had too many tables or if she was sub-par. From the time we arrived to the time dinner was delivered it was an hour(no appetizers). We weren’t offered a second glass of wine until dinner arrived, missed opportunity. We will be back, with high hopes that our next experience is better.

Our first time back here since the name change(so many places, so little time) was for lunch today, and it was very enjoyable. Little has changed except the name — nicely decorated, solid menu, and very good service — thanks Ethan. We had a very simple lunch — the Flounder($ 7.59 with a side) grilled, and the Tavern Salad with Sirloin($ 12.58). The Flounder(a small filet) was nicely & simply cooked, fresh tasting, flavorful. The garden salad as a side was well sized, nice mixtures of greens and veggies, and topped with an excellent Blue Cheese dressing. The Tavern Salad is large, also full of greens and veggies, and the sirloin was perfectly cooked to order, and absolutely delicious — also chose Blue Cheese for the dressing. Very nice lunch with great service. We’ll be back.

I like this place. Food is fresh, you can find healthy choices for a reasonable price. Definitely a place to consider for lunch. Most of things I tried were good, outside the asian salad I wouldn’t recommend. Give a try to the lobster nachos or chicken lavash. Daily soup are good but I would expect to get a little more quantity when being charged for a «upgrade» as a side. But not a big deal. Tables outside are protected by the building itself, so it stays cool and make the lunch break even more enjoyable. Service as always been good and food come pretty fast.
