I’ll never go back. After they gave me rotten, rancid, smelly chicken I was sorry I ate 3 bites.

Service polite. Food«burnt» «smoky.» Not sure if this is intentional or not. Fried rice had a dark smoky taste and fried dumplings had black specks from the frying pan and smelled smoky. Like he fried at too high of a temperature. Sweet and sour chicken was fine. With green pepper, tomato, pale pineapple, no onion. Huge portions. I would be willing to try again but let them not to overfry but rice was inedible it was so dry and overlooked.

Great Chinese Food and such nice people who own it and cook all the food. Try the egg rolls, they are the best!

This restaurant was recommended, however I greatly disagree with the reviews! This had to be some of the worst Chinese food I have experienced. The meat to vegetable ratio in all dishes was non-existent, there is also an underlying flavor in all dishes that tastes like bad canned vegetables. The breading on the Orange chicken was way to thick for that dish, the«Tenderloin» beef was stringy & not worth the price, I question whether the ownership has any idea of what tenderloin is! Pork fried rice should have had pork in it, the amount that was there was minimal. I would not recommend this restaurant, and ownership should evaluate there current products they are using. The quality makes any dish!

I’ve lived in Highland Park for a few years now, and I’ve tried literally every take out in the area. twice. at least. Somehow, Lung Wah never made it into the rotation. until recently. And hot dang do I regret all those other meals. Fast, hot, actual flavor(not just msg!!!), fried foods aren’t overwhelming greasy, I can’t hear anyone in the back coughing up a lung… Try not to waste anymore time.

I’m from Hong Kong, and I am very picky about my Chinese food… I’m at this place at least once a week… Need I say more? Sure I’ll tell you more. they’ve just renovated with in restaurant seating. so if you want to just stay out of the office for a while they have a bar type seating along the wall. Owner is in the mist of getting a table he said. They’ve lowered their lunch menu prices but you do not lose quality. Their food is excellent. Great portion size and they have specials just ask what their daily one is. While they were under construction I tried other places near by but they’re not even close to being as good. Maybe because I go there a lot. they make my food just the way I like it. Cantonese style, not too Americanized. I am definitely a regular.

Lung Wah has been in Highland Park for decades. For many years they had a nice sit down restaurant in downtown Highland Park, then they ended up in their current location as a carryout only spot. The food is the same(that I can tell), which is what I call American Cantonese style. One thing I can tell is that they do use better quality meat than typical carryout joints. If you are looking for simple old-school Chinese like they’d have in the 1940’s, you’ll probably like it. If you are looking for exotic, more authentic Chinese, probably not. The lady that has run Lung Wah all these years is a wonderful, sweet person who always remembers her regulars. They have absolutely no problem tweaking any recipe or dish however you like. You can literally invent your own dish if you want.

Based on the reviews for this place, we gave it a try last week. Like the other posters, we have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Highland Park.(We are Chinese food aficionados and haven’t found one to our liking since Panda Panda closed.) Sadly, we were totally underwhelmed. The egg rolls everyone raved about were doughy with a tasteless filling. The Pot Stickers had some odd-tasting spice in them that was very unpleasant. The Mongolian Beef was covered in a thick, almost black pasty sauce with nary a rice noodle in sight. And the Cashew Chicken consisted primarily of green peppers, which aren’t traditionally even in Cashew Chicken. As others have mentioned, the lady taking orders was very nice and the portions were plentiful. But we threw our leftovers out and left most of our first servings untouched. Time to rename it 2 Star Lung Wah. Guess we’ll continue to search for great Chinese in the area…

Great little take out place that’s very conveniently located. They have fantastic BBQ Pork & Potstickers! If you like shrimp, try the Shrimp with Lobster sauce! Also be sure to try their signature egg rolls! You won’t find ones as good as these anywhere else!
