Although I have yet to pick up the pottery my girlfriend and I painted here for our anniversary, I have nothing bad to say about Make Me Take Me. We came here on a Saturday to paint a couple of items with a deal I had actually gotten right off Unilocal.Never had any issues with that and the girl working there applied the deal without any issues. As for the painting and selection of pottery I give 4.5 stars if I could. There is always room to have more section of course but here we found what we were looking for and they had a lot of different types of things you could choose to paint. They allow you to choose up to 6 paint colors to use, which at first I thought was not many, but I soon realized that this was more than enough colors. Unless you are painting a rainbow you don’t really need more than 6 colors. The staff was attentive and always came over to refill our paint. Nice little place; I would recommend it in an instant to anyone looking for a nice activity for any occasion!

I’d totally go back in a heartbeat! I seriously LOVED it. I can’t believe it’s just minutes from Rutgers and I never even knew it existed. I have to give the credit to my boyfriend for finding this spot for a four year anniversary afternoon activity– I was SO impressed. The Unilocal Deal $ 30 for $ 50 was a huge plus. There’s a $ 7 cover charge per person, which includes 6 paint colors each. You’re able to choose from a wide selection of items to paint– mugs, jewelry boxes, piggy banks, plates, and others. All the prices are on the bottom of the items; Items ranged from as cheap as a few bucks to $ 50+. For an item actually worth painting, expect to pay $ 15 – 20 per item. My boyfriend and I went with penguin figures & a cupcake cake box. The shop was SO cute; lots of natural sunlight came inside through the large windows. It was also impeccably clean. Our only complaint was that the girl running the shop was playing annoying Disney music the entire time… we seriously wanted to rip our ears off. I guess she needed to keep it G rated, but we have pretty much preferred ANY other music. I’m sure some of you would love that though hahaha. Regardless, we still loved our experience! This is definitely something I wouldn’t do too often because I really don’t have $ 50 to be spending painting jewelry boxes every weekend, BUT I totally recommend it for a special occasion. It makes a perfect keepsake to remember a special day! Once you’ve painted your items, they’ll take a week to be done so make sure you plan ahead.

I’m a little disappointed in the end result of our painted pottery. It was pretty pricey for 3 people to come in and paint some mugs and bowls(over $ 60), and so for the price I was expecting a bit more. We all had fun while we were there, but the end product was smudged in places and also had extra paint marks that were definitely not there when we left the store. Overall, the things we painted did not look the same once we got them back. Maybe it’s the glaze or the person glazing, but it doesn’t seem very high quality for the price.

Chinese owner that’s a real jerk. I wouldn’t do any business this jerk! My friend who had a stroke wanted to learn to paint, he told me to get out! This place is a joke!

I went for their BYOB canvas painting class and I had so much fun! This is a great place to go with your friends or on a date. The employees are super nice :)

The girl working there was super nice. Clean and cute inside. Street parking or public lot. Many different options and deals. Used a groupon. Took my little cousins, they enjoyed it. Prices are good.

I really wanted to love this place since I am always looking for things to do with my nieces and nephew. The website is so poorly developed and has inaccurate information on it. It states you can make t-shirts and other things besides painting pottery, but when we arrived, the only choice available was painting. The pieces vary in price and we chose an $ 11 cup and a $ 13 cup… little pricey in my opinion. They let you choose 6 paint colors and pour them onto a tray for you. They charge a $ 5 fee for the project and when I asked how long it would take to get the cups back she told me «weeks». Weeks? You don’t look that busy, people. The place is also lacking some energy and/or excitement. This is a place where kids will come to do something creative and the energy in the place is miserable. The person working should really consider coming out from behind the register and being visible and engaging. It should really be part of the job responsibility that the employees try to interact with the kids! Lastly, I had to use their bathroom and boy was I sorry. It was very dirty and there was dried urine on the toilet seat. The end. No really, the end. Not going back there and not recommending it to anyone.
