Classic breakfast has always been pleasant. Have visited many times. They tell you to sit wherever you want, not wait outside for 45 minutes. Portions are generous(I have to take some home), however I am not a fan of plastic plates as food goes cold fast. Will visit again soon.

I was on their first customer when they opened and while they where trying to find a direction for their food, the service and food was excellent. The owners where always there checking up on you to see if you needed anything and if your food was great. The dinner was awesome, their fillet mignon was to die for. In the last few months I’m not sure if they had a management change or replaced the cook but their quality of food and service took slight slip. They don’t have a dinner service anymore and the food that I ordered took a long time to be served and when I asked for lemon for my water I was informed that they do not have any lemons. I was surprised, I hope they can get their act together and go back to being like they when they first opened.

This place is terrible!!! The menu is a mess and bathroom was dirty! My family and I went on a Tuesday night when no one else was in there. 2 of my family members ordered breakfast which both plates were cold. My husbands Ribeye steak had no seasoning and he asked for scrambled eggs and was brought sunny side up. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger that came with chedder no swiss, the burger had no seasoning either and the mushrooms were raw! My sister in law originally ordered fish and chips, the waitress came back 5 mins later and said they had no fish, so she ordered the French Toast breakfast. The french toast wasnt cooked through, her hasbrowns were burned and cold and the eggs that it was supposed to come with never came. Needless to say my family and I will not be returning. I wish them luck but they really need to get their menu together and a new cook!

My initial review is 2 stars, giving this new place the benefit of the doubt during start up. Nick’s Café is a restaurant searching for an identity. The printed dinner menu has basic café food, from burgers, to patty melts, to fish sandwiches, along with fries and the basics. Ok, so that explains the«Café» in the name. But then there’s a few French-inspired items, like Filet Mignon and Shrimp Scampi. And, the waitress brought an «off menu» menu that included a wide range of French items, from French Onion soup to Coq au Vin. She explained that these items were going to be added to the regular menu. She also noted that they have a breakfast menu. Wow. Just what is this place? With this varied menu, and with the restaurant in the place of a former Dairy Queen, my first thought was«amateurs» searching for an identity. I’d be hard pressed to put down good money for the $ 13 to $ 15 entrees on the French Menu while inside a converted Dairy Queen with a TV running in the background. But perhaps is could be pulled off… it just hasn’t been yet in this place. The burger menu was interesting too. The regular Hamburger plate was priced at $ 9 and regular cheese burger plate was priced at $ 7. Is that a typographical error? At most places, the cheese burger is a buck or two more. I went with the patty melt, which is clearly listed on the menu as being on sourdough bread(the norm is for it to be on rye bread). When it came, it was on rye bread, which I dislike, and the bread was over toasted to black on one side. The taste was just so so, as the rye detracted from the food. The fries were thick, but could have used another minute in the fryer. The waitress did bring me a salad, which was not on the menu, but was beautiful. It had crisp greens, apple wedges, radishes, and other items artfully arranged on the plate, but there was no dressing. The waitress later brought what tasted like bottled Italian dressing. I doubt this salad was supposed to come with the dinner: had the dressing been homemade, this would have been a $ 8 salad, which is too costly to serve with a patty melt and fries and drink priced at just $ 6.99. My guest had the Shrimp Scampi. The pasta and shrimp were cooked to perfection and made a nice meal for $ 12.99. The vegetables that came on a side plate were clearly a frozen medley and detracted from the quality of the dish. I want this place to succeed, but it will need to find an identify to do that. If they can make the French food work in a fast food ambiance, great, I’d be back for that. Suggestions to the Owners: 1. Get your menu together. Read it and make sure it makes sense. Make sure that someone fluent in Engiish reads it and it makes sense to them as well. And if the menu says the patty melt is on sourdough, then make it that way even though that is unusual(I went for it because it was listed as being on sourdough, which is not the norm). 2. Ban the frozen vegetable medley from restaurant. 3. Make sure the waitstaff listen to your customers. When the customer says that they will put their leftovers into the take home container, don’t jump in and do if for them. 4. Think carefully. In this location, can you really pull off«Café» breakfast and dinner AND«French Cuisine»? 5. And what’s with the chips and salsa? They don’t seem to fit in anywhere on the menu. I“m looking forward to trying the place for breakfast. For now, 2 stars and I’ll be back in a month or so to see if they have worked out the start up kinks.
