Ever since I moved walking distance to Kays I have been coming here a couple times a month. When I walk in I am usually seated really fast. I actually done have to look at the menu because I always get the same thing the breakfast burrito with gravy on top. I have also tried the burger as well and that’s really good too. I more and likely keep coming back for the breakfast burrito.

I was in the mood for some biscuits and gravy and stop by here. I had called in my order and was told that as soon as I come in to pick up they will make it for me there was no wait time. Got home with my breakfast and let me tell you the biscuits and gravy were delicious! The café looks like an old diner it’s pretty cool. The staff was very nice as well. Reasonable prices too! If you are in the area or on your way to Big Bear make sure you stop here first!

Been coming here for a long time. Quality of food in always good. The service is great all the waitresses seem very friendly. My favorite meal is the biscuit and gravy meal just wish it came with hashbrowns. I just order them on the side and have them pile it all together.

Love their breakfast n our server Stacie. Always smiling, very friendly n outgoing, the owner on the other hand… she is the rudest, slant eyed Asian BITCH I hav ever seen or met. She does NOTHING to make ur visit comfortable. It’s like going to a $.99 store wer the Asians are just watching over you. All she is worried about is taking ur money. If it wasn’t for the service we get from Stacie we wouldn’t be back!

I didn’t want to finish my food. It was bland. The polish sausage ruined the«omelette». Didn’t care for it. It was inexpensive for an omelette, hash browns, and a biscuit with gravy. But I still felt like we overpaid

I liked this place. It is down the street from another popular diner but this place is a good price for the food. I had the pastrami sandwich and it came rarely quickly. Parking is okay. Waiting staff is good. You basically seat yourself whoever you want when you walk in. My friend got the pancakes. They are huge so beware!

Horrible service. I was attempting to place a to go order and an Asian lady with a heavy accent would not answer any questions I had. She told me it was busy and she couldn’t take my order. What kind of restaurant says it’s too busy to take your order? The patrons in the restaurant must be more important then the ones on the phone.

This place is so good, stopped on my way back to Arizona, will stop here in the future. Staff very nice & friendly. I got the basic breakfast and ordered a pumpkin pancake, way too much food! Portion was huge, the home fried potatoes & the pancake was my favorite, pancake was served with cinnamon butter, no syrup needed!

This place is pretty good. Diner type atmosphere. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with a side of biscuits and gravy and I was pleasantly surprised. The corned beef was home made and they serve fairly large chunks of it. I also got a lot of coffee refills when I visited. Good service too. Not sure when I will be back, but if I am in the area, I will go again.

Classic café with great food and reasonable prices. We always stop here on our way to Big Bear and after several visits they deserve a great review. Service is always fast and friendly. Very clean restaurant. Try the corned beef hash or breakfa st burrito. Our favorites!

The breakfast here is good, but not great. Their downfall is the service. The servers tend to stand around chit-chatting with regulars while ignoring other customers. This has been an issue on every visit. I have had to wait to be acknowledged for seating or wait for a menu or my coffee mug sat empty or my meal sat on the counter while my waitress stood at a nearby booth holding a conversation. I have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years and have only eaten here a handful of times because the service stinks. I’d rather go to Denny’s – same quality food, same prices, but much better service.

Bummer. My husband and I have been going here for years. Like other reviews, the wait staff is awesome. I don’t know what the name of lady who functions as hostess is, but she is sometimes difficult. Today, there were many tables open. We requested a specific table and were initially denied because we stayed too long last time. We did stay longer than normal the last time we were in. We were in a section with other tables both full and open. Had there been a wait to be seated, we would have expedited our dining. Most times we are«efficient» when we eat at Kay’s. This may be a sense of entitlement, but I feel like a combination of the wait staff saying, «there’s no hurry, take your time,» the thousands of dollars we’ve spent at Kay’s, our polite behavior and reasonable tips warranted the tolerance of an extra 45 minutes. When the food is actually cooked through(raw pancakes happen occasionally), it’s good. I’m no longer interested in patronizing Kay’s. So, we’ll find an equally delicious diner, and this will give us an opportunity to explore other diners in the area. Thank you, Kay’s hostess!

I’ve been a loyal customer ever since I was wee chap. However, the last 3 times I’ve been to the restaurant I have been served raw pancakes and waffles. By raw, I mean the outside being a light brown and the inside of the food being pure batter. Until Kay’s gets their act together I will not be dining here again.

I stopped by for a late lunch today(breakfast, actually) and was disappointed in the lack of service. It was still 90 minutes before closing, and it looked like the servers were all getting ready to leave for the day. Only the owner remained, and she was trying to do everything herself. At some point, the owner slid a menu onto my table, and walked away without asking if I’d like anything to drink. After 10 minutes I got up and went to Jenny’s, who will be getting my future business. There is a «Help Wanted» sign in the window. I’d say, help desperately needed, would be a better wording. Small wonder that the parking lot is more than half empty when I drive by at lunchtime. It’s a shame, because I really enjoy their biscuits and gravy, even though the biscuits are obviously not baked on the premises, and the SOS is a great addition to the menu. I’d give them 4 stars the food, and zero for the service.

Food is pretty consistent. My favorites are corned beef hash, s.o.s, and biscuits and gravy. Been going there with coworkers for over 10 years. I have had most dishes and portions are nice sized and quite tasty. Good place to have breakfast.

Kay’s Café has become a breakfast staple for me, I love being close to a good mom and pop diner. My boyfriend and I have started to become regulars almost going once a week. The food is simple, great American style food, they are open for breakfast and lunch. Their omelets, French toast, egg plates and biscuits and gravy are all excellent choices. Kay’s offers daily specials about 4 or 5 different items listed on their board. One of the specials the they made were strawberry pancakes and let me tell you these were DELICIOUS! I loved the waffles it was like a burst of sweet goodness, a mixture between captain crunch and pink cake mix. This has definitely become a favorite and I will continue to go while living in Highland.

I like to take my kids out to breakfast individually. I took my son to breakfast this morning and tried this place because it was close. This place reminds me of the small diners I went to in tiny farming towns in Idaho: Visually not great, but it is open and spacious inside and had super friendly waitresses. Service was good. There was plenty of parking on a Saturday morning. I had an omelette and my son had French toast. He ate everything and my omelette was good. Bacon was big and thick and perfect. No complaints. It’s only 3 miles down baseline so I expect to be back regularly.
